Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Davon is back!

Lucian’s POV

Alina leaned back against the pillows, her sharp eyes studying the tense line of my jaw. "Do you know him, Lucian? You look like you just saw a ghost."

I forced the muscles in my face to relax, plastering a tight, awkward smile over my panic. "No. No, I don’t know him." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

My chest burned. I couldn’t fucking believe that name still existed.

"Listen to me, Alina," I said, my voice dropping into a firm, unyielding tone as I leaned closer to her. "You don’t need to go anywhere near him ever again. Do you understand?"

Confusion knitted her brows, and she shook her head. "Why? Why would you say that?"

"No reason," I deflected quickly, looking away from her intense gaze. "It will just be much better that way."

Alina let out a small, breathless laugh, her eyes filled with utter bewilderment. "Lucian, you aren’t giving me a valid reason at all."

"Just do as I say, please," I pleaded, my voice softening as I took her hands in mine, practically begging her with my eyes.

She stared at me for a long, heavy moment, trying to read the locked vault of my expression. Finally, she gave a slow, reluctant nod. "Okay then."

"Finish your meal," I murmured, squeezing her fingers before standing up from the mattress. "I need to step out for a bit."

Alina nodded, picking her fork back up. The very millisecond I stepped out of the bedroom and closed the door behind me, the fake smile faded instantly from my face. My features twisted into a dark, murderous scowl as I stormed down the hallway.

I marched straight into the private office where Boca was waiting. The moment the door clicked shut, Boca violently whipped his head around, his voice a harsh, angry whisper. "We shouldn’t bring our business back home, Lucian! I can’t risk Alina finding out that we sell fucking drugs!"

"Davon is back," I stated flatly.

Boca froze. His arms dropped to his sides, and his eyes went completely wide in absolute shock. "What? How? When and where... how the hell do you know that?"

"Alina just told me," I hissed, clenching my fists so hard my knuckles cracked. "A man jumped in front of a car to save her today. His name is Davon. And she said he’s a foreigner with a very strong accent."

Boca’s jaw tightened, a dark realization washing over his face. "That fucking accent... it can only be him. What on earth? He really came back here after what he did to us? After his absolute betrayal?" A wave of pure venom laced his tone as he scoffed. "I guess he came back to die this time."

"I don’t want him anywhere near Alina," I growled, my wolf thrashing wildly beneath my skin. "And I am completely certain that him risking his life to save her today was definitely not a coincidence. He’s plotting something."

Boca looked at me sharply. "Should we hunt him down?"

"No," I commanded coldly, shaking my head. "He means absolutely nothing to us anymore. As long as he doesn’t cross our path, we shouldn’t give him any importance. We don’t waste our time on garbage." I paused, my eyes narrowing as I thought of my Alina. "And as for Alina finding out about our business... we will be much more careful from now on. Tell the rest of the men we need a completely different place for our operations. We aren’t doing any transactions here anymore."

***

"You know, Lucian... this place is significantly more secured," Ragnar said, a relaxed, approving smile playing on his lips as he looked around the damp walls of our new warehouse.

Boca nodded in agreement, leaning against a stack of crates. "He’s right. It’s hidden perfectly."

Daniel, however, crossed his arms and let out a frustrated sigh. "Why the hell do we have to move our entire business all the way out here anyway?"

I shot Daniel a sharp, icy glare that instantly silenced the room. "Don’t ask stupid questions. Get the drug shipments ready for sale right now and stop talking."

"Right, boss," they muttered in unison, immediately moving to unlock the heavy cargo crates.

I stood back, watching them work with an impatient knot in my stomach. I checked the time on my wrist, realizing I needed to leave soon. I looked over at Ragnar. "Ragnar, did you bring the phone I asked for?"

Ragnar didn’t respond. He was standing completely still, his eyes wide as he stared intently at Boca.

I frowned, my gaze moving back and forth between the two of them. The silence in the warehouse became suffocatingly heavy. "Ragnar," I barked out.

Ragnar flinched violently, snapping out of his trance. He looked at me, a nervous sweat breaking out on his neck. "Y-yes, Lucian?"

"Where is the damn phone?" I demanded.

"Oh, yeah. Right here." He reached into his leather jacket, quickly pulling out a brand-new box and handing it over to me.

I took the phone, giving him a deeply suspicious, lingering look. Something was definitely off with him, but I didn’t have the time to dissect it right now. "I’ll be off now," I announced, pocketing the box. "I’m going to go pick up Alina from her work at the bakery."

"Bye, boss," the men echoed as I turned and walked out into the afternoon air.

I drove quickly through the city traffic, parking my car directly in front of the bakery shop. The moment I stepped out onto the pavement, the screech of tires drew my attention. Another car pulled up aggressively into the adjacent slot.

The door flung open, and Aiden stepped out.

His eyes instantly locked onto mine, his posture turning rigid and hostile. "What the hell are you doing here, Lucian?" he demanded.

I scoffed, taking a step toward him. "That is absolutely none of your business, Aiden. But it is my business why you’re here. You have no right to be hanging around this place."

Before Aiden could even open his mouth to snap back at me, the clear, melodic sound of Alina’s laughter echoed from the side of the building.

Both of our heads violently whipped toward the sound.

My chest completely locked up, and my eyes went wide in absolute, paralyzing shock. Alina was walking down the sidewalk, a bright, genuine smile on her face—and walking right beside her, leaning in close, was Davon.

The shock hit me so hard that my fingers went entirely numb. The brand-new phone slipped right out of my hand, smashing loudly against the cold concrete pavement.
