Chapter 538: Chapter 538: Mika Summers VS Tristan Grayson (38)

Hearing Tristan Grayson, Ian Shaw grew even more brazen. "That’s simple. Drag her into bed and go at it until she can’t get up for a week or two."

"Haha, Ian Shaw, Miss Joyce isn’t like those other women you mess around with. She has the Joyce Family backing her. Don’t go too far, but you don’t need to hold back, either." The implication was clear: Ian Shaw could pursue her by any means necessary. As long as she stopped bothering him, it was fine by Tristan.

’Still, he should be mindful of his limits while pursuing her. After all, the Joyce Family isn’t a family just anyone can afford to cross. It’s best not to antagonize them unless absolutely necessary.’

’Sigh, and with Tiana in the picture now, even if I wanted to cross them, I couldn’t do it openly.’

After his call with Ian Shaw, Tristan Grayson didn’t head home. He went straight to the office.

「Meanwhile, in the villa district of Newcroft.」

Mika Summers and the two little ones had just finished dinner and were sitting on the sofa watching TV when the doorbell rang.

Hearing the bell, Mika Summers frowned slightly. She got up to answer the door, and when she opened it, she saw a delivery man in a yellow uniform.

Seeing that it was a food delivery, Mika Summers’s frown deepened. "We didn’t order anything. You must have the wrong address."

Hearing her, the delivery man took two steps back and glanced at the house number to make sure he was at the right place before speaking. "Isn’t this Mika Summers’s home? I was sent by Mr. Lockwood."

"Yes, I’m Mika Summers. What did my brother have you deliver?"

The delivery man craned his neck to peer inside. "Mr. Lockwood said I must see the little girl, Rory, and personally hand this to her."

"So mysterious?" Mika Summers furrowed her brow, confused. ’It’s just a food delivery. Why all the trouble?’

"Mr. Lockwood gave specific instructions. I can’t do anything about it."

"Alright then, I’ll call Rory over." The delivery man seemed sincere, so Mika Summers didn’t suspect much. After all, Rory had been living with her for a long time, but her brother had only met the girl once, at Mika’s engagement party. He hadn’t even called to check on her since. ’He’s probably worried about what she’s eating, so he sent someone to bring her food personally,’ she thought.

However, before she could call out to Rory, the delivery man took the initiative. "It would be better if I just came inside."

Mika Summers nodded and stepped aside to let him in.

After the delivery man entered, Mika Summers didn’t close the door. ’He’s just dropping something off and will leave in a moment,’ she thought. So she followed him inside, curious to see what tasty food her brother had sent.

But she had only taken two steps when the man in front of her abruptly stopped and spun around. He threw a handful of white powder in her face. Instantly, her vision blurred, and her body went limp.

Kiki and Rory were engrossed in the TV show when they suddenly heard a loud THUD.

Kiki and Rory whipped their heads around to look. They saw a strange man in the house, and behind him, Mika Summers lay collapsed on the floor.

The delivery man looked at the two children in the living room, their faces pale with fright, and the corner of his mouth curled into a cold, wicked smile. He gave the boy a cursory glance before fixing his attention on the girl. He walked over and snatched Rory up from the sofa.

Rory, who had been too frightened to speak or cry, was suddenly swept into the strange man’s arms. The shock caused her to burst into loud sobs, her small hands beating against the man as she struggled to get down.
