Chapter 382: Chapter 380: Wizard Identity
"Hmm?"
Jiang Chen froze at the words of the black-robed Mr. Gu.
’I should have killed you back then to silence you?’
He mulled over the meaning of that sentence.
He was suddenly lost in thought.
"You’ve seen me before?"
An intense light suddenly burst from his eyes as he stared intently at Mr. Gu.
Mr. Gu let out a sudden, hoarse laugh.
"I’ve done more than just see you. Have you forgotten how you lost your Martial Vein?"
"Haha, I was the one who dug it out."
At this point, Mr. Gu no longer bothered to hide the truth.
He stated it as fact.
He wanted to see Jiang Chen become flustered and fly into a humiliated rage.
In that moment, a tremor shot through Jiang Chen’s body.
In truth, ever since his rebirth, he had known that this body’s Martial Vein had been stolen.
He even had a vague suspicion as to who was capable of such a thing.
After all, very few people in the Lower Realm were capable of excavating a person’s Martial Vein and transplanting it into someone else.
And Jiang Chen knew exactly who they were.
Now, he was certain of the identity of the black-robed man before him.
His gaze turned ice-cold as he stared at the man in the black robe and said coolly, "You’re a Wizard?"
It was both a question and a statement of fact.
He watched intently for any change in the black-robed man’s expression.
As soon as Jiang Chen finished speaking, Mr. Gu’s whole body trembled violently.
He stared at Jiang Chen in disbelief.
He couldn’t believe that Jiang Chen had actually guessed his identity.
It was true. He was a Wizard, an extremely bizarre type of Martial Cultivator.
He had always believed no one knew of his status as a Wizard, until Jiang Chen had just revealed it.
Even the ever-confident Mr. Gu was reeling from the shock.
He stared at Jiang Chen, dumbfounded.
He asked, aghast, "Kid, how did you know I was a Wizard?"
He was starting to panic.
Wizards had their weaknesses. If someone knew his identity, it was highly likely they also knew what those weaknesses were.
If his opponent targeted those weaknesses, a Wizard would be in danger, no matter how bizarre their Divine Techniques.
His expression changed drastically beneath his black robe.
He even took a few silent steps backward.
He was on guard, worried Jiang Chen knew his weaknesses and would use them to attack.
In fact, Mr. Gu’s identity as a Wizard was his greatest secret. Even the Second Prince, Wen Shixi, was unaware of it.
Yet now, Jiang Chen had exposed it just like that.
Jiang Chen took in Mr. Gu’s every action.
This only strengthened his conviction that the man in the black robe was a Wizard.
He sneered. "Since you’re a Wizard, why hide your identity?"
"Did you do something you’re ashamed of?"
Mr. Gu seemed to recall something, and his body trembled.
He quickly composed himself, however.
"Kid, so what if you know I’m a Wizard?"
"You’re still going to die by my hand today."
"I didn’t kill you when I dug out your Martial Vein last time. This time, you won’t escape death."
Jiang Chen was now determined to kill this Wizard.
At the same time, he was also quite interested in the Wizard’s Divine Techniques. Jiang Chen felt it would be even more worthwhile to capture him and study them.
Unfortunately, this Wizard was very cunning, and Jiang Chen knew he wouldn’t be easy to handle.
In fact, this man posed a significant threat to him.
"Since you’re the one who dug out my Martial Vein, I will make sure you die today."
"Do you dare to fight me?"
Black Fire erupted around Jiang Chen’s body. Almost no one in the City Lord’s Mansion could stop him.
Mr. Gu sneered. "Someone else is here to deal with you. We’ll see if you can survive that."
With that, Mr. Gu immediately retreated, pulling Qin Muxue along with him.
Jiang Chen’s expression darkened.
"Trying to leave? You’ll have to get through me first."
「Inside a room in the City Lord’s Mansion.」
A dashingly handsome young man lounged in a large armchair.
It was none other than the Crown Prince, Wen Shixuan.
Grand General Ming Zhe stood beside him.
Wen Shixuan asked, "How are things? Any news about the Black Fire?"
Grand General Ming Zhe nodded. "Your Highness, we’ve found him."
"Just a short while ago, the kid incinerated the Qin Family. Now he’s fought his way to the City Lord’s Mansion."
"He’s setting fires outside the City Lord’s Mansion as we speak."
WHOOSH!
Wen Shixuan abruptly leaped up from his armchair.
He asked in astonishment, "Really?"
He had always coveted the Black Fire, so he was overjoyed to learn it was right here in Guyue City.
Grand General Ming Zhe pointed outside. "Your Highness, please look. The Black Fire is besieging the mansion."
"The kid must have a grudge against the City Lord’s Mansion, and now he’s come to attack."
"It’s like a big fish swimming right into our net. We didn’t even have to look for him; he delivered himself to our doorstep."
Wen Shixuan looked out and, sure enough, saw the City Lord’s Mansion besieged by Black Fire. He immediately burst into laughter.
"Excellent! This is perfect!"
"It seems this Black Fire is fated to fall into my hands."
Just as he was celebrating, he saw City Lord Zhao Bing rushing over.
Seeing Wen Shixuan, he said urgently, "Your Highness, a kid covered in Black Fire is attacking the City Lord’s Mansion!"
"The City Lord’s Mansion is in grave danger! I beg you to lend us a hand, Your Highness!"
Zhao Bing already knew that Crown Prince Wen Shixuan was searching for the Black Fire.
So he was certain Wen Shixuan would intervene.
Wen Shixuan cut Zhao Bing off.
"I’ve seen enough. You’re a bunch of useless trash. You can’t even defend a city; you just let someone waltz in and attack."
"You’re a disgrace to the Fire Sparrow Kingdom."
He couldn’t resist giving Zhao Bing a harsh tongue-lashing.
He tore into Zhao Bing, cursing him out completely.
Naturally, Zhao Bing didn’t dare say a word in his own defense. He could only bow and scrape like a lapdog, accepting Wen Shixuan’s tirade.
His status was so low he wasn’t even considered a part of the Wen Family.
The Crown Prince, on the other hand, was a person of exalted status.
He could only look up to him from far below, so silence was golden.
"Yes, Your Highness is right."
"It is I, Zhao Bing, who is incompetent."
Then, his tone shifted.
"Your Highness, that kid is incredibly powerful."
"He’s covered in Black Fire, and it’s an evil power."
He kept mentioning the Black Fire, wanting to ensure Wen Shixuan took notice.
Wen Shixuan didn’t need Zhao Bing’s reminder; he had already set his sights on the Black Fire.
He pondered for a moment, saying nothing for the time being.
Instead, he looked toward Grand General Ming Zhe.
Grand General Ming Zhe understood his unspoken command and nodded. "Your Highness, I believe we can make our move."
"We can resolve the crisis at the City Lord’s Mansion and obtain the Black Fire at the same time."
Wen Shixuan said quietly, "Then make your move."
"I’ll have to trouble you again."
When he said "make your move," it was naturally Grand General Ming Zhe who would act. The Grand General was a master of the Martial King Eighth Layer Heaven, a terrifyingly powerful figure.
All Wen Shixuan had to do was wait for Grand General Ming Zhe to capture Jiang Chen.
"Serving Your Highness is my duty," Grand General Ming Zhe said in a deep voice.
Wen Shixuan smiled. "I understand your loyalty."
"You must capture that kid alive. We cannot afford to lose the Black Fire."
"Move out!"
At that moment, Zhao Bing was ecstatic. He knew full well how powerful Grand General Ming Zhe was. With the Grand General making a move, wouldn’t capturing Jiang Chen be as easy as reaching out and grabbing him?
He immediately followed Wen Shixuan and the others, striding quickly out of the room and toward Jiang Chen.
