Chapter 360: Chapter 358: Secret
Hearing that everyone was willing to submit, Jiang Chen slowly withdrew his Sword Intent.
His Sword Intent had swept through the prison. No one could hide from it, and he could kill anyone with a single strike.
What shocked him even more, however, was that when he tried to use his Sword Intent to break open the prison, he discovered an extremely powerful force blocking it.
"Is that it?"
"No way. This new guy is too fierce. He just showed up and already became the leader."
"Unbelievable. This kid is interesting."
The prison guards were stunned, shocked that Jiang Chen had intimidated every inmate with his swordsmanship.
They looked at each other, then hurried back to their posts.
They paid no more attention to what was happening inside the prison.
After all, no matter how strong Jiang Chen was, there was no escaping this prison.
"Boss."
"Hahaha, a pleasure to meet you, Boss."
"From now on, you’re the big boss here in the Devil’s Prison."
Scar now led his underlings, approaching Jiang Chen with broad smiles.
They no longer dared to oppose Jiang Chen.
They had finally learned just how formidable Jiang Chen was.
That Sword Intent could kill them at any moment.
Jiang Chen nodded indifferently.
"Boss, you’re amazing! You’ve actually comprehended Sword Intent."
Scar scurried forward, fawning. He only acted tough in front of the weak; when faced with a true expert, he was a total coward.
Jiang Chen’s strength had terrified him.
Naturally, he tried to suck up to Jiang Chen.
The others also greeted him with smiling faces.
They had completely forgotten the man Jiang Chen had killed earlier.
Jiang Chen was clearly unfazed by Scar’s brown-nosing.
But Scar continued to exclaim in amazement, "Sword Intent! Boss, I heard that even among Martial King Experts, very few have comprehended Sword Intent. I never thought you would have done it."
Jiang Chen cut Scar off.
He asked, "Tell me, what is this place?"
He still didn’t know what crime he had supposedly committed to be locked up.
Scar immediately explained, "Boss, this place is called the Devil’s Prison. It’s where Guyue City locks up its death row inmates."
What?
A tremor ran through Jiang Chen.
Death row inmate. The words made his expression darken considerably.
Seeing Jiang Chen’s face darken, Scar grew a little worried.
He asked, "Boss, what crime did you commit to get thrown in here?"
"No one who comes in here ever leaves alive."
Jiang Chen’s expression grew even darker.
He had been abruptly brought here by people from the City Lord’s Mansion. Thinking about it now, there had to be a reason.
But no matter the reason, being locked up here made the killing intent in Jiang Chen’s heart surge.
’City Lord’s Mansion... I, Jiang Chen, have no quarrel with you, yet you’ve thrown me into the Death Prison.’
’Very well. This won’t end until one of us is dead.’
It was too baffling. Jiang Chen was still wondering why he had been thrown into the Death Prison.
However, the place was heavily guarded and surrounded by powerful restrictive formations. He had no way of breaking out.
But he knew he had to get out of here, or he would truly die.
Then, he looked at Scar.
He said helplessly, "I was locked up in here without even knowing what crime I committed."
Scar and the others stared with wide eyes.
"Boss, you really didn’t do anything?"
Seeing Jiang Chen nod, they gritted their teeth in anger.
"The City Lord’s Mansion is just too corrupt."
"There are people here who were framed, too. Made into scapegoats for others."
"But Boss, if you die in here, you’re really dead. There’s nowhere to appeal for justice."
Scar sighed.
He had seen too much in this place. The City Lord’s Mansion didn’t treat the condemned prisoners as human at all, killing them at will.
After talking with his fellow inmates for a long time, Jiang Chen finally came to understand the Devil’s Prison.
It was called the Devil’s Prison, and it was truly as dark as a Demon Cave.
Because the people here were all on death row, the men from the City Lord’s Mansion could kill them whenever they pleased.
"Don’t you guys want to escape?"
Jiang Chen looked quizzically at the prisoners, who seemed to have resigned themselves to their fate.
Scar gave a bitter laugh. The tough-looking muscles on his face twitched, making the scar on his face look even more hideous.
He shook his head. "This place is full of powerful restrictive formations. There’s no way to break through them."
"We’ve thought about escaping, but it’s just impossible."
Jiang Chen’s expression turned extremely grim.
If he really couldn’t leave this place, the only outcome for him was death.
He would die for nothing, an unjust end.
How could he be resigned to that?
Jiang Chen fell silent.
He began to look for a way to leave.
Just then, Scar pulled Jiang Chen aside and leaned in close. "Boss, if you really want to get out, we know a secret place."
Jiang Chen was surprised.
He looked at Scar suspiciously.
"If there’s a way out, why haven’t you left?"
Jiang Chen suspected that Scar might be trying to set him up.
But Scar just smiled bitterly and waved his hands. "Boss, keep your voice down."
"Follow me."
Scar led Jiang Chen to the darkest corner of the prison.
The moment they arrived, Jiang Chen immediately sensed a dangerous aura emanating from that very corner.
This aura was extremely terrifying, making his heart pound.
He was even more puzzled. It was incredibly strange for such a place to exist within the prison.
Scar gave a sheepish grin and moved a stone slab in the corner.
WHOOSH...
After he moved the slab, a pitch-black opening was suddenly revealed.
The heart-pounding aura was coming from this opening, and now, at close range, it was even more intense.
Scar pointed at the hole, his tone growing serious. "Boss, it’s not that we don’t want to leave. We don’t dare."
"The aura inside is terrifying. We don’t know where it leads, and we’re afraid we’d die the moment we entered."
"If we stay in this prison, at least there’s a chance we’ll live."
Fortunately, the terrifying aura seemed to be confined to this area; the guards outside had no idea.
Jiang Chen’s expression turned grave.
’No wonder they’d rather stay here than take the way out.’
He asked, "Have you sent anyone inside to scout it out?"
Scar nodded. "We sent people to check. None of them ever came back."
"Besides, the people from the City Lord’s Mansion know about this passage, but they haven’t sealed it. It seems they can’t do anything about it either."
"And since the people from the City Lord’s Mansion seem to know about it but aren’t worried we’ll escape, we guessed there must be something incredibly dangerous inside."
This was Scar’s speculation. They had, of course, sent people to investigate, but unfortunately, none had returned.
Jiang Chen’s expression finally changed.
’Even the City Lord’s Mansion knows about this, yet they haven’t sealed it. That means they’re confident, not worried at all about prisoners escaping this way.’
’Even with his experience, he could sense a terrifying creature below. Anyone who went in would be walking right into a trap.’
He fell silent.
’Aside from this, there seems to be no other way out.’
’I have to leave.’
Jiang Chen was absolutely not willing to wait here to die.
Once he got out, he would settle the score with the City Lord’s Mansion.
But for now, the priority was to leave this place.
"I’m going in to take a look."
Having made up his mind, Jiang Chen gritted his teeth and prepared to enter the hole.
"Boss, you should reconsider."
"It’s definitely extremely dangerous in there."
Scar and the others all tried to persuade him.
But Jiang Chen was resolute in his decision to enter the secret passage.
"It’s fine. If worse comes to worst, I’ll just come back."
Of course, he knew that coming back was almost impossible.
The City Lord’s Mansion wasn’t stupid. If this were truly an escape route, they would have sealed it long ago. The fact that they left it open could only mean a great danger was hidden inside.
Under a flurry of strange gazes, Jiang Chen leaped and plunged directly into the pitch-black passage.
Seeing this, Scar and the others could only give bitter smiles.
"Another one desperate to escape. I’m afraid he’s not coming back."
"What a shame."
It wasn’t that they had set Jiang Chen up. In truth, it was a real passage; they just didn’t know where it led.
