Chapter 5155: Luring Old Enemies Into The Spirit Essence Spring
"Heh, those stupid guards weren’t our match at all."
A white-robed, gray-haired man said with a light smile as he walked an underground path where the heaven and earth were dense. This person was none other than Girias.
Girias narrowed his eyes before he turned to look at Harmon, his gaze flickering, "You even crippled one of them."
The black-robed, crimson-haired man’s expression was lethargic as though he was sick, but there was a strange glint in his eyes similar to that of a predator, "A pity. The City Lord didn’t even come out, even though we crippled one of them. It’s quite strange since I heard the City Lord is protective of his men."
"Who cares?" Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Crown Prince, Wilxes Ingrimm, spread his hands, "He’s just a commoner. Don’t you know he’s bound to love the vice that comes with being a City Lord that rules the Bastion City?"
"Hahaha!" Pretzen Grayscale laughed loudly as though he was afraid he couldn’t be heard, "Crown Prince has a point. Who can withstand the power and the influence that the City Lord status gives you? Even people who were praised as Saints turn into-"
"Shut up." From behind, the Grayscale Poison Hound Clan’s Patriarch roared.
"Ahahaha!"
However, it just caused the youths to laugh more.
"You-"
"It’s fine." The Blackcurse Voidfang Eel Clan’s Patriarch said smilingly, "The darkness I command will not allow the words spoken here to spread. Let them have fun."
"Indeed." The Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Grand Elder agreed, "We don’t need to suppress their enthusiasm lest it affect their absorption of the essence spring and the Celestial Luminescence Pill. Let them tackle this trial head-on.
The Morvane Family’s Patriarch didn’t comment but nodded.
However, he asked about something else as his eyes narrowed, "Is there a chance for the Saint to be healed?"
After he said it, he felt so weird.
A Saint needed another Saint to heal him?
The injuries left on Saint Riyal Mendez were extremely tough to deal with. They feared that someone at the layer limit had attacked him using nothing else but pure physical force, which left him with traumatic injuries that were not difficult to heal. Still, it would take time for the trauma to be forgotten by the body, since even if the flesh and blood were restored, the pain would still echo like it was a soul injury.
Moreover, the attackers appeared to be two people whose identities were unknown and they didn’t seem to want any Divine Techniques, which gave them the chills.
They didn’t even want to even investigate this since they sensed danger.
The Abyssal Radiance Empire’s Grand Elder responded, "Hard to say, but the Hexadra Clan will send some people quickly. His hidden ambitions for the future are in jeopardy, so our small alliance will also be in splinters if the Saint were to be taken away. Regardless, it’s best we make use of this opportunity while we still can before the City Lord repeals his words and takes this chance away from us."
The others nodded, agreeing.
This was why they had hurried here. After hearing that the Celestial Luminescence Pills were distributed, how could they sit still? The other allies from the alliance could only cry that they didn’t have suitable youths to send here.
Soon, they appeared in a secluded underground cave after they walked through a concealment formation.
"Holy...!"
"Heavens! It really exists!"
"The thickness and density of the heaven and earth energy have reached a high level and turned into a liquid pool. It is equivalent to that of High-Level Primarch Grade Essence Spring Pool...! Disregarding the benefits our bodies and soul will experience, it’ll certainly bring us to Level Nine Autarch Stage and even allow us to breakthrough to the Primarch Stage."
"Hss... a pity... we’re still young. We should aim for Absolute Primarch Stage, so we should suppress ourselves!" Crown Prince Wilxes Ingrimm said excitedly.
"Yes!"
The other three agreed as they nodded their heads, watching the essence spring as though they were looking at a naked beauty, barely holding themselves back from jumping in.
Even the elders held their breaths, suddenly feeling some envy as they didn’t get to experience such extravagance during their younger years.
"Haha, I’m glad you’re all still sane. Otherwise, this old City Lord would really be disappointed. Good!"
At this moment, a luxurious purple-robed, white-haired man entered the scene from the shadows and walked across the wet ground.
It was none other than City Lord Kain Waterland.
"Many thanks for letting us enter the Spirit Essence Spring!" Crown Prince Wilxes Ingrimm hurriedly cupped his hands and bowed, and the others followed suit.
The elders were a tad bit late but still saluted the City Lord, both thanking him and mocking him in their hearts.
If the City Lord knew the Saint was bedridden and no longer able to uphold his end of the bargain, would he still allow them to enter?
By all rights, he should know as the City Lord, but these days, they heard that he was also cooped up in a room with that Young Mistress known as Jillian Hayden.
They guessed she must be impeccable for him to stay inside all day long, nearly getting their thoughts wild as well.
City Lord Davis smirked, "Not many get to experience these cultivation grounds, and you four are going to be the first. I do think it’s a pity that if this Spirit Essence Spring is allowed to accumulate energy, it could even reach Peak Primarch Grade. Unfortunately, with the Zenith Convergence Summit coming up, I don’t dare hoard this for myself and my city. If any one of your four can get into the top ten, consider me amazed for a lifetime that I wouldn’t even want my investment back."
"Haha, well said."
The elders laughed while the youths looked more confident.
"Alright," City Lord Davis continued with a deep smile, "Before we continue, I need the elders to vacate this space. This lavish cultivation ground cannot be taken advantage of by anyone else. I’m afraid that is the rules, or even I would be punished by the Hexadra Clan."
"Of course, we won’t overstay our welcome. Thank you, City Lord." The Grand Elder cupped his hands again, looking grateful.
The others also thanked and said.
"Please call us when it’s done."
"You can stay right outside the concealed space. I would argue this won’t take long considering how brilliant the four of them look."
"Hahaaha! I didn’t expect the City Lord to have a true eye for talent!"
"I’ve seen so many talents among all of you during my time on the battlefield. Even among them, these four would shine bright like a pearl."
"Well said! They are indeed gems, but for you to be able to see them-!"
The elders all praised the City Lord as they took turns almost endlessly, looking all pleased before they left.
The only ones left were the four youths.
"Well then, shall we get down to it?"
The City Lord’s smile only grew more strange, but the four youths didn’t realize at all; their gazes were fully affixed on the Spirit Essence Spring.
They threw their robes aside, only wearing their pants.
"Yes!"
They roared, appearing to want to jump in any moment the word was said.
"But before we do that, come out." The City Lord said calmly.
Immediately, the youths were alarmed as they looked around and quickly spotted a white-robed man.
"Thousand Windblades!" Pretzen Grayscale yelled out.
"Why are you here?" Crown Prince Wilxes Ingrimm narrowed his eyes before casting a glance at the City Lord.
Harmon and Girias also narrowed their eyes.
They felt doubtful.
Was Thousand Windblades switching sides now that the Saint was harmed?
Thousand Windblades laughed, "The City Lord has acknowledged my talent and value, so I’m naturally here to take part in this treasured opportunity, but don’t worry, I will not enter until you all reach Level Nine Autarch Stage."
"Fair enough..." Crown Prince Wilxes Ingrimm harrumphed coldly, "As long as you don’t interfere with our advancement, I don’t care, but if you don’t step out when I say you’re not allowed in, don’t blame me for being ruthless outside."
"..." Thousand Windblades stared at him but eventually cupped his hands and bowed, "Yes, your highness."
City Lord Davis nodded smilingly as though he couldn’t be any happier.
"Now that you’re all gathered, let’s start!"
