Chapter 5131: A Vengeful Hayden?
Davis could only scratch his head and bring Jillian Hayden to her favorite bed yet again.
He genuinely pitied her as she was caught between a war of the giants and also got abandoned by her family, even though they said that they didn’t abandon her. Anyone with a brain cell could tell that they were just using her at this point, but it didn’t seem like her parents themselves were able to realize this.
He didn’t know if their ignorance was the work of fate or just their instinct to survive.
After all, there were many cases of parents realizing their mistakes later on in life.
He also couldn’t imagine what his own daughters would feel like if he were to make a decision like that one day. It doesn’t necessarily have to be selling them off, but just as obvious as prioritizing his wives over them. They would be shattered, just like Jillian Hayden.
However, as much as he felt pity for her, he was also unapologetically basking in her emotions like a soul devourer.
The variety of emotions, consisting of the destruction of hope and the endless sorrow that followed after it, was just the finest dish he had ever tasted in this month.
As a Heart Intent user, although he had gone up to the point where he should be imposing his Will a lot to improve his Heart Intent, he shouldn’t forget the basics and hence still needed to experience the wide range of human emotions, so he didn’t forget to bask in the emotions of others even while they clearly needed help. It was an occupational hazard, even though he felt disgust for himself for doing it at this time.
Regardless, he felt that he should at least keep Jillian Hayden’s mentality hovering so that she could help Evelynn in due time. Therefore, he made her cry and release her sorrow instead of bottling it all up and causing her to be truly broken beyond redemption.
Only after some time did Jillian Hayden awaken.
As she sat up, she saw the City Lord also turned to look at her as he came out of meditation.
Jillian Hayden just wanted to fall back and sleep again since the bed was so comfy. She didn’t even have the energy to get up anymore, but her instinct as a cultivator still remained. She silently glared at the City Lord, wondering what he was going to say now.
However, her lips moved, "Why haven’t you still violated me yet? Isn’t this the peak of my fall you waited for?"
Davis’s expression churned as he heard that question. Even if he was a horny hydra at this moment, he wouldn’t take advantage of her for personal reasons such as still being draped over an identity that didn’t belong to him!
He coughed, "I know you might not even care for your parents anymore and plan to self-destruct, so I’ll let you in on a little secret."
"What secret?"
"The City Lord has been dead for an entire day now."
"...!?" Jillian Hayden’s indifferent expression showed a crack as her eyes widened.
"Yeah, you don’t need to worry about your safety unless you want to expose me and bring everything down with you. What do you think? Since you have something over me, feel like cooperating now?"
Davis offered her the sensation of security while still hanging the scythe over her neck, ready to reap her life should she try to expose him.
Meanwhile, Jillian Hayden was still trying to comprehend the part where he said the ’City Lord is dead for an entire day’. She felt inclined to believe it since this man clearly behaved differently than the one she knew, but his aura clearly was one that of the City Lord.
How could they be different? What kind of insane possession arts was this other person using?
"Then who are you?" She asked, her heart trembling.
At that moment, she barely managed to see the visage of a blonde-haired young man clad in a purple robe, his sapphire eyes gazing at her. He was stunningly mesmerizing, but before she could even see properly as she blinked her eyes in disbelief, he was back to being the old coot again.
"You are..." Jillian Hayden narrowed her eyes, vividly looking at him.
Davis nodded. He had briefly connected a karmic thread to her and even used an illusion to portray his original features instead of the disguise, allowing her to see his true appearance.
"Who are you?"
However, she asked again, causing his smile to freeze.
This woman... how come she didn’t know the Divine Emperor of Death? His wanted posters were everywhere! Even the city gates had his posters! Could it be that she didn’t even see it when she entered before she got kidnapped?
Davis could only sigh, "Never mind. If you don’t know, you don’t know. So, are you willing to help me?"
Jillian Hayden instantly answered, "I decided to help you the moment I realized I got sold twice. Screw the Hayden Family. They could rot in the underworld for all I care. In fact, if I became your mistress, I’ll make it hell under the heavens for them to live here."
"Oh?" Davis looked intrigued, "Then what about your parents? Willing to make it hell for them?"
"..."
Jillian Hayden went silent. She slowly got out of bed and walked towards the balcony, stopping right before entering it as she looked at the moon in the night sky.
"Since they wish for me to become your mistress and help the Hayden Family, my little brother... I think... I should take the little brother away from them. Let’s see if they can sacrifice their favorite heir for the greater good of the family."
Davis blinked, "That’s a dark path. You could just disown them and have nothing to do with them."
"I could..." Jillian Hayden silently said, "But I don’t have the heart in me to spare people who have betrayed me twice."
"And then what?" Davis shook his head, "Complete your fall to the darkness, which is just what fate exactly wants? If I were to tell you that they care about you but just haven’t realized their mistakes yet, would you regret this decision later on?"
"..." Jillian Hayden’s gaze shook.
She clenched her teeth and turned around to glare at him, "Why does it matter to you!?"
"Because I honestly want to make amends with you for my own satisfaction. In my opinion, you don’t deserve what happened to you. Besides, I already said if you could help the important person, I promise I will release you and even aid you in your cultivation to reach the apex you have imagined."
Jillian Hayden sneered, "I have always imagined reaching the World Hegemon Stage as the apex for my background. Do you still dare claim that you can aid me?"
"I dare to claim it."
"..."
Davis inclined his head with a scoff, leaving Jillian Hayden stunned.
She could only wonder if he was planning on silencing her after she finished helping him or if he was a big shot, a scion from a major power in the Greater Realm, for him to be able to promise this. Otherwise, she found it hard to make sense.
