Chapter 5091: Too Poisonous

"Uhm..."

Davis reached out with his hand, but he stopped it mid-air with a soft smile, "Let’s calm down, okay? We do not want violence here."

In front of him was Jillian Hayden, her figure literally half-naked. She stared at him with a cold gaze that contained a bottomless abyss filled with hatred, yet there wasn’t even a hint of that anger visible in her eyes.

If it weren’t for Davis possessing Heart Intent, the one who saw her might take pity on her despondent look and think she was broken, only to think of protecting her, unaware of the vengeance lurking in deep in her heart.

Jillian Hayden slightly inclined her head, "City Lord, my cultivation is sealed. Even if I am released, my Level Nine Empyrean Stage cultivation would surely not be a problem for you to deal with."

She said slowly, her voice soft yet full of charm.

"Sure, sure. Fairy Jillian, don’t worry about it."

Davis threw a white outer robe at her, "Get dressed. I’ll send you back to your home later when I have time."

"...!?"

For the first time, her expression wavered before she hurriedly knelt down.

"My Lord, forgive my impudence. Please don’t send me back and take it out on my family. I, Jillian, am ready to serve you with my heart and soul."

’And then stab that hairpin right on my forehead while doing naughty things with me? Yeah, I’m not buying it...’

Davis’s brows twitched.

His sense of danger had heightened the moment she had entered the room. He guessed this wasn’t an ordinary poison, even among High-Level Exalt Grade poisons, since it was being used to take down a Level Eight Primarch with some level of battle prowess.

’A Peak-Level Exalt Grade poison... sigh, the Six-Headed Hydra Realm and the ancient families sure are terrifying...’

Most major families in this realm more or less had a connection with poison, curses, and the like. He now doubted if this poison was obtained by the Steward or the ancient Hayden Family.

In any case, he didn’t like to get hit with this poison now. Even if he didn’t die a gruesome death and revive, it would undoubtedly expose him. He hadn’t tested if the impersonation would continue even after his own death, but he guessed it wouldn’t, as death ended the cycle.

Nonetheless, he supposed he shouldn’t be taken out by some unknown character before he even started the mission.

Davis shook his head and walked to her, touching her shoulder as he made her stand up.

But unbeknownst to her, her jade hairpin was swiped by him and replaced with another within a moment as he used Misdirection to gain her full attention.

It was just too easy to fool a Level Nine Empyrean for Davis.

Jillian Hayden didn’t notice anything amiss as he patted her head after that, making her confused over the uncomfortable feeling on the back of her head from the touch of his hand. When he turned around, she touched her hair to make sure the jade hairpin was still there, but her hand froze mid-air as she noticed the jade hairpin wasn’t the same as the one she used.

Her heart sank.

"..."

Davis went speechless as he stopped walking away and turned to look back.

She was too careful and perceptive, even noticing the minute details of the hairpin’s structure. He had even specifically searched for one that was similar in the City Lord’s spatial ring, as he seemed to have collected their hairpins in remembrance of his victims for reasons that Davis didn’t bother searching for, but felt it might have to do something with inviting negative karma to fuel the lustful nature of his yang and thereby increase his virility.

Davis believed some people got desperate and did crazy things, and this was one case, and so was the current one ahead of him.

He sighed and raised his hand.

"Die!"

Jillian Hayden screamed out, her green eyes turning bloodshot while her light purple hair rose and swayed like poisonous strands. Her body was instantly overwhelmed with darkness energy.

She activated her bloodline to the utmost, instantly increasing her power to the furthest of her capability. It seemed like her cultivation wasn’t sealed but concealed, obviously the Steward’s work. Her Level Nine Empyrean Stage cultivation instantly soared, almost entering Level One Exalt Stage in terms of prowess.

Amazingly, this meant her battle prowess had reached ten levels higher at this moment. This was a level even supreme geniuses wouldn’t normally have!

However, she used all that power to grab hold of the ordinary jade hairpin and redirect the sharp end of it directly at her own forehead.

A suicide attempt!

However, her wrist was captured instantly, and the jade hairpin was pried from her hands.

"You vile demon! You won’t even let me die! You will die a miserable de-"

Jillian Hayden’s expression turned pale as she struggled.

After easily taking the jade hairpin from her hands, he backhanded the back of her neck and made her faint, causing her to collapse.

"Just be quiet and sleep... by the time you wake up, this will all be over, hopefully..."

Davis waved his hand, using his soul force to haul her body to the bed.

When he dropped her, Evelynn’s voice could be instantly heard.

"Oh? What an unscrupulous way of saying you’ll take advantage of her. I should’ve known my vile husband wouldn’t let go of this chance."

"Hoho, you think I wouldn’t dare?" Davis’s gaze flickered, "If I connect my karmic thread with her, then I can allow her to see me instead of City Lord Kain."

Evelynn pouted, "Alright, I was kidding, but I already told you’re free to do whatever you want. I really want you to be safe, as I’m afraid you might simply disappear if you keep using power. Beware of the Dream Dimension." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"..." Davis paused for a moment.

It wasn’t as if he hadn’t considered this. The Dream Dimension was also known as the Karmic Dimension.

This scary power of usurping fate- there was no way there wasn’t some kind of limiter on it.

However, he was beyond that point of consideration and needed to take risks no matter what. It was unavoidable.

Evelynn’s voice turned solemn, "If you suddenly disappear from my sight, this woman might be my only clue in reeling you back. I feel sorry for her, but if you were intimate with her in this state of impersonation, then you two could be karmically connected. But she just signed her death sentence now. Her pitiful circumstance aside, she just tried to poison you to death when you were clearly trying to help her. You think I will ignore that? How strong is that poison?"

A suppressed tone of anger could be felt from the other side.

In Evelynn’s view, poison was poison. It didn’t matter whether it was strong or weak. Even a weak poison could seriously affect a cultivator who was strong as long as it managed to get into the system. From that moment, unless they could get rid of the poison, it was the start of a slow and agonizing race to death.

Hence, she rarely ever misused her powers, always keeping them within as much as possible, even though she herself was a walking calamity because she was a fey who would emit poison. She was afraid even her children would get poisoned while hugging, so she had maintained distance from them more than she could remember.
