Chapter 85: Chapter 85: The Old Profligate, the Young One Even Worse

According to Qin Shitian, after he returned to the small town, his immense power, combined with his good treatment of the townspeople, earned him great admiration. The once-modest Qin Family began to develop rapidly.

Group after group of Martial Artists at the Opening Realm joined the Qin Family. That period, Qin Shitian said, was the happiest time of his life.

But as fate would have it, not long after Qin Shitian had developed the Qin Family into the most powerful family in town, his wife fell ill and left him forever. Heartbroken over the loss of his beloved wife, Qin Shitian poured all his love into their son, Qin Shanlin.

Due to Qin Shitian’s doting, Qin Shanlin grew up to be arrogant and incorrigibly spoiled. His own son, Qin Feng, inherited his father’s character, becoming a notorious young hedonist known throughout the town.

"I’m counting on you, Young Brother Lin Shan." With that, Qin Shitian bowed to Lin Yun—who had, of course, given him a fake name.

The words had barely left Qin Shitian’s lips when an old man of about the same age walked in. "Master, Shanlin is out fighting again."

The man was the Qin Family’s old butler, who had been with Qin Shitian for decades. Hearing his words, Qin Shitian’s face hardened. "That worthless son. He’ll never change his rotten ways."

With that, Qin Shitian hurried toward the entrance. Curious to see the infamous father and son for himself, Lin Yun followed behind them.

Just outside the Qin Family’s main gate, a crowd had gathered in the distance. Upon seeing Qin Shitian approach, many of the town’s residents called out, "Master Qin, you’re finally here."

From their expressions, Lin Yun could tell that Qin Shitian still held considerable sway in the town—certainly far more than his son and grandson.

"Shanlin, you worthless son! Have you forgotten everything I’ve told you?" Parting the crowd, Qin Shitian saw Qin Shanlin beating two of the town’s Martial Artists to within an inch of their lives and immediately roared at him.

The two victims were both town residents, each with a Cultivation at the Fourth Layer of the Opening Realm. Now, thanks to Qin Shanlin, they were barely breathing.

Hearing his father’s voice, Qin Shanlin froze and stopped his assault. Qin Shitian strode up to him and, without a word, slapped him squarely across the face.

"You animal! Can you do anything besides prey on the weak?" Qin Shitian roared.

"Father, I was angry! Can’t I even find someone to take it out on?" Qin Shanlin argued.

"You... You... And you think you’re in the right? Do you have any respect for me as your father?" Qin Shitian was livid, and began to rain kicks and punches on Qin Shanlin.

"Who?! Who’s the blind fool who dares to defy my father? I, Qin Feng, will tear him limb from limb today!" Just as Qin Shitian was berating Qin Shanlin, Qin Feng’s voice rang out from the edge of the crowd.

A moment later, Qin Feng appeared, his face swollen like a pig’s, flanked by four Qin Family guards.

"You little beast, what did you just say?" Seeing Qin Feng’s insufferably arrogant expression, Qin Shitian was practically fuming.

Facing Qin Shitian, Qin Feng was clearly even more of a spoiled brat than his father. He replied without a trace of fear, "Grandpa, they’re pushing our Qin Family around, why are you siding with outsiders?"

Hearing Qin Feng’s words, Qin Shitian raised his hand to strike him. Yet, Qin Feng remained utterly defiant. "Go on, hit me. It’s not like you haven’t done it plenty of times before, right?"

At this, Qin Shitian’s hand did not fall. Finally, he spoke dejectedly to the old butler beside him, "Take these two back to the house. They are not to leave without my permission."

After that, Qin Shitian pointed to the two men who had been beaten to a pulp by Qin Shanlin. "Arrange for the best doctor to treat their injuries. The Qin Family will cover all expenses."

With everything arranged, Qin Shitian slowly walked back toward the Qin residence, accompanied by the old butler. Watching his slightly stooped back, Lin Yun could only imagine how miserable he must be feeling.

His only son and grandson, each more incorrigible than the last. It was enough to make Qin Shitian’s heart grow cold.

"Sigh... What misfortune for Mr. Qin’s family, to have raised two such worthless sons."

"Indeed. He’s such a good man, yet his son and grandson turned out like this. The Celestial Dao is truly unjust."

The Qin Family members departed, and the two injured Martial Artists were taken into the Qin residence. The onlookers sighed, all feeling the injustice of it for Qin Shitian. It was as if the heavens were deliberately mocking him.

’The father’s a spoiled brat, and the son is even worse.’ Shaking his head, Lin Yun also returned to the Qin residence.

"Young Master Lin, the master has already arranged a room for you. Please, follow me." The old butler appeared before Lin Yun just as he stepped through the main gate.

He followed the old butler to a meticulously arranged room. While not opulent, it was very neat, and the furnishings were clearly the finest the small town had to offer.

"I’m sorry to trouble you, elder, but could you prepare a Tier Two Demon Beast for me? I’m a little hungry," he said to the old butler.

The old butler, hearing this, was stunned for a moment. Then, he asked in disbelief, "Young Master Lin, did you say a Tier Two Demon Beast? An entire one?"

"Yes, that’s right." Lin Yun had clearly anticipated the butler’s shock.

"Very well. Please wait a moment." Since Qin Shitian had ordered that Lin Yun’s every request be met, the old butler assented and went to make the preparations.

About an hour later, plate after plate of roasted Demon Beast Flesh was delivered to Lin Yun’s room. A hundred plates in total, holding the flesh of a Tier Two Demon Beast that weighed over a hundred pounds. Even the Qin Family Maids who brought it looked on in disbelief.

Never mind one person—even dozens of strong men couldn’t possibly eat all of this.

"Alright, you may all leave now." Ignoring the Maids’ astonishment, Lin Yun waved his hand, dismissing them.

Once everyone had left the room, the Little Ape, which had been perched on Lin Yun’s shoulder, instantly leaped onto the table and began to wolf down the food.

"I swear, you glutton. Can’t you show a little restraint?" Lin Yun said with a helpless laugh, watching Little Ape devour the meat. "Do you have any idea what I went through to satisfy that appetite of yours?"

"ROAR, ROAR, ROAR..." Little Ape growled as it ate, an aggrieved look on its face as if to say, ’Is it my fault I have a big appetite?’

Little Ape ate at an incredible speed. Lin Yun only managed to eat a single leg before Little Ape had devoured the rest.

Contentedly patting its full belly, Little Ape looked at Lin Yun with a brilliant smile.

For Little Ape, nothing was better than having a full stomach.

’Sigh. Well, since I’ve eaten their food, I suppose I have to help them out. But that father-son pair of spoiled brats is really something else...’ He thought to himself, pondering how he might change the personalities of Qin Shanlin and Qin Feng.

’This won’t be easy,’ he mused. ’They’re both spoiled to the core. It seems some drastic measures will be necessary.’
