Chapter 428: Chapter 428: A Late-Night Rescue
After leaving Puzhu, Lin Yun walked back alone. It was already late, and the Direct Disciple Area was completely deserted.
Walking alone on the path to the Core Disciple Area, Lin Yun’s mind was on the conflicts among the Core Disciples.
To be honest, Lin Yun hated this kind of scheming and infighting. He would much rather spend the time on his Cultivation.
But there was nothing to be done. The world wouldn’t change just for one person. Wherever there are people, there is conflict, and the world of Martial Artists was no exception.
Fortunately, Lin Yun had Li Tian’s help. Li Tian had planned almost everything for Lin Yun regarding these matters, so all he needed to do was focus on his Cultivation.
"I hope Li Tian can deal with Bai Zhicheng quickly," Lin Yun muttered. The words had barely left his lips when a young woman suddenly burst out from a small path nearby.
The young woman was dressed in the attire of an Inner Sect Disciple and was quite pretty. However, her clothes had been torn to shreds, exposing her chest. She ran while desperately trying to cover herself with her hands.
"Help me! Help...!" she cried out in a choked voice, running toward Lin Yun.
A moment later, four Direct Disciples emerged from the same path in pursuit. It was obvious they were the ones who had torn her clothes.
Witnessing this scene, Lin Yun didn’t have to guess what had happened. These four were likely trying to force themselves on the young woman, but she had managed to get away.
The young woman ran right up to Lin Yun and, as if clutching at a lifeline, hurriedly hid behind him, staring in terror at the four pursuing Direct Disciples.
The four men stopped in front of Lin Yun as they pursued the young woman. Upon getting a clear look at Lin Yun’s face, they all froze. Who in the entire Flawless Palace didn’t know that Lin Yun was Luo Feng’s disciple?
"Senior Brother Lin, you’ve misunderstood. It’s not what you think. We were just joking around with our junior sister..." one of them explained cautiously, not daring to get too close.
At these words, Lin Yun gave a slight smile. He glanced at the young woman hiding behind him before saying coolly, "Oh, joking around? Don’t you think your ’joke’ went a bit too far? Are the disciples of our Flawless Palace all so shameless?"
Hearing this, the four Direct Disciples exchanged glances. Lin Yun was Luo Feng’s disciple, a status far higher than theirs. Now that he had caught them, they all knew this matter wouldn’t be resolved easily.
It was late at night with no one else around. As the four men looked at each other, Lin Yun couldn’t make out their expressions in the dark. He had no idea that instead of the expected nervousness, a cold smirk was playing on each of their lips.
After exchanging a glance, the four turned back to Lin Yun. They said nothing, simply standing there dumbly.
Lin Yun took a spare robe from his Space Ring and gave it to the young woman to put on. Only then did he get a proper look at her.
Although she couldn’t compare to Lu Bingning or Lan Xi, the young woman was still very attractive—an undeniable beauty.
She had a slender figure, a classic oval face, and fair, smooth skin. A beauty mark on her cheek added a touch of enchanting allure.
"Senior Brother, they... they were trying to force themselves on me," the young woman stammered, pointing at the four men after draping the robe Lin Yun had given her over her shoulders.
"You’re safe now. Just calm down," Lin Yun said gently. He then turned back to the four men.
Seeing the cold glint in Lin Yun’s eyes, the four men began to back away slowly. They truly looked terrified of him.
Lin Yun was no saint, and he didn’t make a habit of meddling in others’ affairs. But now that he’d stumbled upon something like this, he couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
Besides, he couldn’t just turn a blind eye to such despicable people existing within the Flawless Palace.
"Are you going to the Punishment Hall on your own, or do I have to take you?" Lin Yun asked them coolly.
Hearing this, the four men were silent for a moment before one of them plucked up his courage. "Senior Brother Lin, this was our mistake. But no real harm was done. Please, let us off the hook this once. In the future, we will go through hell and high water for you and be at your beck and call."
As soon as he finished, the other three quickly chimed in with similar promises, saying that if Lin Yun let them go, they would follow his every command from now on.
Lin Yun listened to their begging without a change in expression. ’Wretches like these aren’t even qualified to run errands for me.’
"Enough," Lin Yun said coldly. "I’ll ask you one last time. Are you going to the Punishment Hall to accept your punishment, or am I sending you there?"
Hearing this, all four knew Lin Yun wasn’t going to back down. He wouldn’t be satisfied until they were sent to the Punishment Hall.
After a brief silence, a strange light flashed in all four of their eyes, but it was too dark for Lin Yun to notice the change.
"Since Senior Brother Lin refuses to give us a chance, then don’t blame us for what happens next," one of them said.
Before Lin Yun could reply, the four men attacked. As Direct Disciples, their Cultivation was only at the Eighth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm. Their Combat Power was likely even lower than that of Senior Brother Zhang and his companions, whom Lin Yun had thrashed before.
As they lunged, Lin Yun grabbed one man’s arm and brought a knife-hand strike down, shattering the bone. He followed up with a swift kick to the man’s knee.
In a single exchange, Lin Yun had crippled the man’s arm and leg. He fell to the ground, screaming in agony.
Lin Yun had no intention of killing them. He just wanted to get them to the Punishment Hall. Their punishment would be a matter for the Hall to decide.
He disabled the other three in a similar fashion. The Combat Power of these four was on a completely different Level from Lin Yun’s. Defeating them was no difficult task.
Lin Yun had crippled one leg on each of them, leaving them with no chance to escape. He looked down at the four men and said calmly, "Let’s go. You’re coming with me to the Punishment Hall."
Hearing this, the four men ignored him, continuing to lie on the ground and howl in agony.
The men’s agonized cries soon attracted a group of Direct Disciples. But the moment Lin Yun laid eyes on them, he knew something was wrong.
There were more than twenty of them, all Direct Disciples. Strangely, they were all still in formal attire at this late hour, not dressed for rest. Instinct told Lin Yun that this group hadn’t just happened by; they had been waiting.
He realized something was amiss. ’What are more than twenty people doing hiding here so late at night?’ It didn’t take long for Lin Yun to understand. This entire incident had been planned from the start. And as for the target... it was him.
