Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Reunion After a Long Wait

Wan Tai rejoined the Wuji Sect. His Elemental Power was completely sealed; it would take several days at the very least to break free. In the meantime, aside from his formidable physique, Wan Tai was no different from an ordinary person.

"Palace Master Luo, since you have your compensation, please be on your way. My Wuji Sect will be sure to pay a visit another day," a Supreme Elder of the Wuji Sect said coldly.

Hearing this, Luo Feng showed no intention of leaving. He looked at Wan Tai and said, "Master Wan, we are your guests. Rushing us out the door like this would be a breach of etiquette, don’t you think? We were hoping to stay in Jincheng for a few more days. Surely you won’t refuse to host us?"

As he spoke, Luo Feng let his gaze drift meaningfully toward Mo Qingshui. At this, Wan Tai pointed at Luo Feng and roared, "Luo Feng, you—"

But before Wan Tai could finish, a Supreme Elder from the Wuji Sect cut him off. The elder then turned to the Mo Family Head. "Patriarch Mo, please arrange for your finest guest rooms and host Palace Master Luo and his retinue properly. You must not neglect them."

After speaking, the Supreme Elder shot Wan Tai a glare. He then approached the Semi-Evil Daoist Master and Abbot Lian Fo, forcing a pained smile. "Semi-Evil Daoist Master, Abbot Lian Fo, we have been terrible hosts today. Since you are here, why not stay in Jincheng for a few days? It would give us a chance to properly apologize."

Upon hearing this, the Monk and Daoist began shooting glances at their respective masters, clearly eager to stay. The two masters glanced at their apprentices.

Abbot Lian Fo smiled faintly. "If that’s the case, then we shall be in your care."

"It’s no trouble at all," the Supreme Elder said. "Abbot, Daoist Master, please make yourselves at home and don’t worry about a thing."

By the time these matters were settled, the sun was rising. It had been a truly staggering night. The guests of the Mo Family were all thrilled to have witnessed such an earth-shattering battle.

The Mo Family arranged rooms for Luo Feng, the Semi-Evil Daoist Master, and the others. The guests followed a maid away, and soon, only the members of the Wuji Sect and the Mo Family remained in the main courtyard.

The group entered the main hall, Wan Tai’s expression grim. ’Why did Luo Feng want to stay? Did he think I couldn’t guess his motives?’ Wan Tai was in a foul mood. Not only had he lost face, but now he had to entertain his rival, a rival whose target was the very woman he loved.

’At this thought, killing intent surged uncontrollably within Wan Tai. Luo Feng was simply taking things too far.’

"Wan Tai, now is not the time for an all-out war with the Flawless Palace," said the Supreme Elder who had stopped him earlier. "A moment’s impatience can ruin a great plan."

"I know, but Martial Uncle..." Wan Tai began, but the Supreme Elder cut him off.

"I know what you want to say. But do not forget, you are the Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect! How can you ignore the bigger picture for one woman? If we truly go to war with the Flawless Palace, who do you think will be celebrating? The other Four Great Forces! Do you want the Wuji Sect to be ruined at your hands?"

Scolded by the Supreme Elder, Wan Tai said nothing. By this point, Mo Qingshui and Mo Qingliu had already made their excuses and departed.

The Flawless Palace contingent was settled into a charming private courtyard, while the Monk, the Daoist, and their masters were given an adjacent one.

Lin Yun and Little Ape had been taken to their rooms to rest and recuperate. The Six Supreme Elders had also departed, leaving Luo Feng sitting alone in the small courtyard.

Luo Feng was drinking quietly when his expression suddenly grew complex. A figure had appeared before him—the figure of a woman.

"I was starting to think you wouldn’t come." The two looked at each other for a long time, their eyes filled with a storm of complex emotions. Finally, Luo Feng was the first to speak.

It was, of course, Mo Qingshui. Hearing Luo Feng’s voice, tears betrayed her and streamed from the corners of her eyes. Her voice was choked, laced with resentment as she spoke. "Why did you have to come to Jincheng?"

Looking at Mo Qingshui, so pitiable yet so stubbornly refusing to bow her head, a hint of tenderness surfaced in Luo Feng’s eyes. If he truly had no feelings left for her, he would not have waited alone in the courtyard for her arrival.

"I was the one who failed you, all those years ago," Luo Feng said in a low voice after a long silence.

"I didn’t come here to hear that," Mo Qingshui asked coldly. "I want you to tell me, what was the real reason you sent your disciple to Jincheng?"

Luo Feng fell silent at Mo Qingshui’s question. ’Did he really send Lin Yun to Jincheng just to test him, as he’d claimed? ...Of course not.’

Few people truly understood Luo Feng’s character. He seemed arrogant, wild, and promiscuous, but in reality, he was a man who valued his relationships deeply. If that weren’t the case, he never would have sent Lin Yun to Jincheng in the first place.

"Sigh. That boy, Luo Feng... he’s never been able to forget what happened all those years ago. Did he really think he could hide it from us old-timers?" one of the Six Supreme Elders said softly as they drank tea in their room.

"Luo Feng has been like that since he was a boy," the old woman among them added. "He never says what’s bothering him, always shouldering his burdens alone while pretending to be afraid of nothing. Sending Lin Yun to Jincheng... that was likely his plan all along."

The Six Supreme Elders left Luo Feng to himself.

In the face of Mo Qingshui’s question, Luo Feng chose silence. He simply stared at her, and she met his gaze, tears continuing their silent trail down her cheeks.

After downing another cup of wine, Luo Feng slowly rose and walked over to Mo Qingshui. His voice was hoarse as he said, "I came... to tell you I’m sorry, face to face."

"Sorry...?" Hearing his words, Mo Qingshui suddenly lost her composure and screamed, her voice dripping with a deep-seated hatred for him. "Do you think saying sorry makes any difference?"

Seeing her crying so brokenly, Luo Feng could only repeat softly, "I’m sorry."

Gradually composing herself, Mo Qingshui looked at Luo Feng and asked, "If you could go back in time, you would still choose to break off the engagement, wouldn’t you?"

With a conflicted gaze fixed on the weeping Mo Qingshui, Luo Feng gave a slight nod.

At this, Mo Qingshui let out a self-deprecating laugh. "I knew it. You would never change for my sake. Even if you had a second chance, you’d still choose to break off the engagement..."

Mo Qingshui, who had always presented an icy facade to the world, was now crying like a child before Luo Feng. The moment he appeared, the years of grievances, memories, heartache, and tears surged up in her heart like a bursting dam. It was precisely for this reason that she had sought him out.

’She no longer knew what she wanted. Did she still love Luo Feng? Did she still want to be with him? Could she ever let go of what happened back then? At this moment, Mo Qingshui didn’t even know her own heart.’

’And yet, seeing Luo Feng, she just wanted to cry. She wanted to tell him about the injustices she had suffered for his sake over the years, about the loneliness she had endured. She wanted to tell him that she still loved him.’
