Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Such a Narrow Mind
Wan Tai didn’t know why Mo Qingshui was hiding Lin Yun’s identity, but he refused to believe she didn’t know Lin Yun was a disciple of the Flawless Palace.
’Cultivating the Flawless Flesh Body requires immense resources. In the entire Flawless Palace, only the Ten Core Disciples are capable of it. For Mo Qingshui to be hiding this brat’s identity like this... could he be Luo Feng’s disciple?’ Wan Tai guessed to himself.
Although Luo Feng had always publicly claimed to have no disciples, Lin Yun had appeared out of nowhere. Wan Tai had every reason to believe that Luo Feng had secretly been grooming him all along, with the goal of raising a Demon Fiend for the Flawless Palace.
His expression darkened. It was a well-known fact throughout the Mo Family that Wan Tai was in love with Mo Qingshui. He had fallen for her at first sight, back when she was still with Luo Feng.
Wan Tai had once given up hope, believing he had no chance. But then, to everyone’s surprise, Luo Feng rejected the marriage.
Ever since Luo Feng broke off the engagement, Wan Tai had pursued Mo Qingshui relentlessly. On several occasions, he had even tried to use force, wanting to take her body first, but Mo Qingshui had always cleverly managed to evade him.
He couldn’t help it; Mo Qingshui’s allure was simply too much for him to resist.
Gazing at Lin Yun in the distance, a murderous glint flashed in Wan Tai’s eyes. Regardless of Lin Yun’s identity, if he truly was Luo Feng’s disciple, what was his purpose in coming to the Mo Family on Mo Qingshui’s birthday?
’Could it be... they still have feelings for each other?’ At this thought, Wan Tai swore to himself that he would never allow such a thing to happen. ’Mo Qingshui is mine. No one is allowed to have designs on her.’
Killing intent was already brewing in Wan Tai’s heart. Meanwhile, the battle in the center of the courtyard was drawing to a close.
Although Lin Yun had sustained some injuries and had a trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth, he was in much better shape than the Monk and Daoist.
The Monk and Daoist were now slumped on the ground, panting heavily. Lin Yun looked at the pair, smiled, and asked, "Still want to fight?"
Hearing this, the Monk and Daoist shot Lin Yun an angry look, but said quite bluntly, "You’re a monster. We’re done. No more fighting."
In truth, the Monk and Daoist never really intended to kill Lin Yun, and Lin Yun had no desire to kill them either. If the pair had truly fought with their lives on the line, Lin Yun might have won, but he certainly wouldn’t have escaped unscathed. After all, the Monk and Daoist were by no means weak.
How could one describe their relationship? They were like frenemies. Ever since they first met, the three had been openly and secretly trying to undermine one another, but deep down, there was still a bond between them.
It was just a very peculiar bond—part friendship, part brotherhood, part rivalry. Even the three of them couldn’t quite put their finger on it.
The fight was over, and everyone assumed that was the end of it. But then, to their surprise, Wan Tai shot a meaningful look at his disciple, Song Tianyang.
Having followed Wan Tai since childhood, Song Tianyang knew his master well. That look meant one thing: kill Lin Yun.
Although he didn’t understand his master’s reasoning, from Song Tianyang’s perspective, killing someone like Lin Yun would be absurdly easy.
Mo Qingshui happened to see the look pass between master and disciple, and her heart instantly sank. She knew Wan Tai all too well. The man was incredibly narrow-minded, and his possessiveness was so extreme it was pathological.
’Did he figure it out?’ Mo Qingshui’s heart was in her throat. If Wan Tai had already guessed that Lin Yun was Luo Feng’s disciple, he would certainly not let Lin Yun off the hook today.
In Wan Tai’s mind, Luo Feng was his rival in love. Even though Mo Qingshui and Luo Feng hadn’t seen each other in many years, Wan Tai still saw him as such.
Sure enough, upon receiving Wan Tai’s order, Song Tianyang rose to his feet and said to Lin Yun, "Brother Lin Yun, your strength is impressive. Are you interested in a friendly spar with me?"
Song Tianyang’s words were polite, sounding like an invitation to spar, but before Lin Yun could even respond, Mo Qingshui shot to her feet and said coldly, "Lin Yun is already injured. If you wish to spar, perhaps another day."
Lin Yun was no match for Song Tianyang even at his peak, let alone now that he was injured. The gap in their cultivation levels was simply too vast. Moreover, Song Tianyang was one of the Five Great Demon Fiends; his Combat Power was so monstrous that even Mo Qingshui wasn’t confident she could defeat him.
Being so coldly rebuffed by Mo Qingshui only made Wan Tai’s killing intent surge. He immediately spoke up, "Qingshui, the young men are just sparring. Why must you interfere?"
Looking at Wan Tai, who still wore a smile, Mo Qingshui had never found him more repulsive. So petty, so narrow-minded. Compared to Luo Feng, Wan Tai was a world apart.
"Wan Tai, don’t think for a second I don’t know what you’re scheming. I said, the sparring ends now. Lin Yun is my guest." Mo Qingshui had already made up her mind. Even if it meant offending Wan Tai, she could not let any harm come to Lin Yun today.
But in her haste, Mo Qingshui forgot one crucial thing about a man as narrow-minded as Wan Tai: the more she protected Lin Yun, the more convinced he would be that Lin Yun had to die.
At that moment, Wan Tai was all but certain that Lin Yun was Luo Feng’s disciple. Why else would Mo Qingshui be so desperate to protect him?
"Lin Yun, you’re injured. Go and tend to your wounds," she urged. Ignoring Wan Tai, Mo Qingshui’s top priority was getting Lin Yun away from the situation.
But just as the words left her mouth, Song Tianyang, acting on Wan Tai’s command, exploded into motion. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of Lin Yun.
"Infinite Killing Fist!" he roared, unleashing a punch at Lin Yun.
The attack was so sudden that Mo Qingshui had no time to act. She could only scream in fury, "Song Tianyang, you dare!"
However, Song Tianyang paid her no mind.
It wasn’t just Mo Qingshui who was caught off guard; even Lin Yun couldn’t react in time. Song Tianyang had launched a sneak attack without any warning—not the kind of conduct expected from a Demon Fiend.
Lin Yun didn’t know that this was all at Wan Tai’s command. Song Tianyang himself had no personal interest in Lin Yun, but if his master ordered him to kill, then kill he would. It was all the same to him.
Lin Yun only managed to react as Song Tianyang’s fist was already upon him, throwing his arms up to shield his chest.
He took the full force of the punch, and with it being a sneak attack, a sickening CRACK of bone echoed from the arms shielding his chest.
The bones in his arms were shattered. Song Tianyang’s fist then broke through his guard as if it were splitting bamboo, smashing violently into Lin Yun’s chest.
Song Tianyang’s power was truly extraordinary, shattering the bones in Lin Yun’s formidable body with a single punch.
A mouthful of fresh blood sprayed from his lips as Lin Yun was sent flying back several dozen meters, not stopping until he slammed into the courtyard wall.
He had been grievously wounded by a single punch. Lin Yun didn’t know why Song Tianyang had attacked him so suddenly, but the act filled him with a cold, murderous rage. Though severely injured, Lin Yun’s eyes remained locked on Song Tianyang, burning with killing intent.
