Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Little Ape Awakens
After settling the other three in, Lin Yun began to cultivate in his room. Even though he had successfully entered the Academy, he hadn’t relaxed his training in the slightest. The path of a Martial Artist was like rowing a boat upstream—if you don’t advance, you fall behind.
Lin Yun spent the entire night immersed in his cultivation. Although his cultivation speed was already over ten times that of an ordinary person, he still had a long way to go before breaking through to the Qi Sea Realm.
’It’s still too slow. If only I had a Gathering Element Array,’ Lin Yun sighed, slowly opening his eyes.
If anyone else knew what he was thinking, they probably would have been at his throat. To complain about being slow with such a cultivation speed was just absurd.
His thoughts turned to the Gathering Element Array that Ye Yunlong had let him use back at the Death Row Shelter, and he began to wonder if he could find one at the Academy.
He had been at the Academy for a while now, but he was still completely unfamiliar with his surroundings. ’As the greatest power in Yanhuang Country,’ he reasoned, ’they must have something like a Gathering Element Array, right?’
Just as Lin Yun was about to leave his room and take a look around, Little Ape, who had been sleeping for half a month, suddenly began to change.
A burst of Elemental Power, far exceeding that of a Tier One Demon Beast, erupted from Little Ape’s body. Even Lin Yun was startled by its intensity.
’Is it about to advance?’ Lin Yun wondered, a flicker of excitement in his eyes. Once Little Ape became a Tier Two Demon Beast, his own ability to protect himself would be significantly boosted.
He watched Little Ape without blinking. A quarter of an hour later, the fluctuations of Elemental Power around its body slowly subsided, and its eyes gradually opened.
Upon waking and seeing Lin Yun, Little Ape let out two roars. It was clear the newly advanced ape couldn’t control its power well yet; those two simple cries made the room tremble slightly.
Now a Tier Two Demon Beast, Little Ape hadn’t changed in size and was still only as large as a fist. Lin Yun knew, however, that it could now freely control its body’s size.
"So, little guy, you broke through?" Lin Yun asked with a smile.
"ROAR ROAR ROAR..." Little Ape roared a few times and nodded, then with a nimble leap, it landed back on Lin Yun’s shoulder.
ROAR ROAR ROAR... The first thing on the newly awakened Little Ape’s mind was that it was hungry. Very, very hungry.
Hearing Little Ape’s roars, Lin Yun’s expression immediately soured. A hungry Little Ape needed to eat at least one Tier Two Demon Beast. Here, inside the Academy, where was he supposed to find one for it?
As luck would have it, there was a knock on the door just then. When he opened it and saw Li Tian, Lin Yun felt as though his savior had arrived.
He pulled Li Tian into the room and asked if he had any way to get his hands on a Tier Two Demon Beast. Upon hearing "Tier Two Demon Beast," however, Little Ape, who was perched on Lin Yun’s shoulder, grew displeased.
"ROAR ROAR ROAR..." Little Ape roared.
"A Tier Three Demon Beast? Little guy, are you insane? Where am I supposed to find a Tier Three Demon Beast for you?" Lin Yun said, exasperated.
"ROAR ROAR ROAR..."
"I don’t have any."
After a brief argument, Lin Yun was utterly exasperated. Fine, no Tier Three Demon Beast. But now Little Ape demanded two Tier Two Demon Beasts, and that was the absolute minimum.
Lin Yun looked at Li Tian, his eyes filled with hope. His only hope was Li Tian. As a Genius Class student, if even he had no solution, Lin Yun would have to take Little Ape into the mountains and hunt Demon Beasts himself.
"Alright, I’ll see what I can do," Li Tian finally said with a sigh, having been stared at by Lin Yun for quite some time.
Li Tian departed, presumably to find some Tier Two Demon Beasts.
"You little glutton," Lin Yun said to Little Ape after Li Tian left. "With an appetite like yours, is this ever going to end?"
In response, Little Ape roared twice, as if to say, ’If you don’t have any Demon Beasts, I’ll eat Primordial Stones instead.’
A look of surprise flashed in Lin Yun’s eyes. ’This Demon Beast can eat Primordial Stones?’ If Little Ape really could eat Primordial Stones, then things would be much simpler. He currently had several dozen Low Grade Primordial Stones on him.
At that thought, Lin Yun’s Space Ring flashed, and ten Low Grade Primordial Stones appeared in front of Little Ape. Seeing the stones, however, Little Ape looked very disappointed, giving them a disdainful glance.
"Alright, don’t be picky. Make do with these for now. I’ll get you better ones later," Lin Yun grumbled at Little Ape’s reaction.
Little Ape didn’t argue. Soon, however, it was Lin Yun’s expression that changed drastically. It took him at least half an hour to refine a single Low Grade Primordial Stone.
And that was already ten times the speed of an ordinary person; it was considered incredible for a normal person to refine just two Low Grade Primordial Stones in a single day.
For Little Ape, however, the Low Grade Primordial Stones were like candy. It tossed them into its mouth one by one and swallowed them whole.
In just twenty breaths, all ten Low Grade Primordial Stones were gone. After eating them, Little Ape let out two dissatisfied roars, complaining to Lin Yun, ’There’s no Energy in these at all! They’re not even as good as a single Tier Two Demon Beast.’
Hearing Little Ape’s complaint, Lin Yun nearly stumbled. This little guy was a complete money pit! Ten Low Grade Primordial Stones, gone in less than twenty breaths.
"Just wait, Little Ape, just wait. There will be Tier Two Demon Beasts soon." Lin Yun didn’t take out any more Low Grade Primordial Stones. He only had a few dozen left, which he needed for his own cultivation. Besides, from the looks of it, giving Little Ape all of them would be a drop in the bucket.
An hour later, Li Tian returned. But when Lin Yun saw he was empty-handed, his heart sank a little. It seemed Li Tian hadn’t managed to get any Tier Two Demon Beasts.
"Young Master Lin, this is the Academy. It would be a bit strange for me to be running around carrying two Tier Two Demon Beast carcasses, wouldn’t it? But don’t worry, I brought something else," Li Tian said, noticing Lin Yun’s disappointment.
With that, Li Tian took two Elixirs from his Space Ring. As soon as they were in his hand, a rich, medicinal fragrance filled the entire room.
Seeing the two Elixirs in Li Tian’s hand, Little Ape let out two excited roars and swallowed them without a moment’s hesitation. With the Elixirs down, it took on a look of pure satisfaction, patting its little belly with its paws.
"This is..." Lin Yun was stunned.
Seeing Little Ape’s reaction, Li Tian’s suspicion was confirmed. He explained to Lin Yun, "It needs Tier Two Demon Beasts for the Energy in their bodies. The two Elixirs I just gave it were Earth Level Three-Stars Elixirs, and the Energy they contain is no less than that of a Tier Two Demon Beast. So, from now on, you don’t have to find Demon Beasts for it. Elixirs and Primordial Stones will work as substitutes."
Li Tian’s explanation was perfectly correct, but Lin Yun was groaning inwardly. ’Earth Level Three-Stars Elixirs...’ Each one of those was worth over a thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones.
Well, that was just perfect. The resources Little Ape required were simply an astronomical figure. The Energy it needed every single day was equivalent to over a thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones.
