Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Reduced to the Ordinary Class
"He’s a true diamond in the rough... Excellent. Although his foundation is weak, with careful polishing, he’s certain to break through to the Primordial Ocean Realm," the elder in the sky said with a satisfied smile, looking at Qin Feng.
Ninety breaths. This was Qin Feng’s final score, and it was his Limit. The moment the result was out, even the Qi Sea Realm teachers were left dumbfounded.
"Ninety breaths... That’s incredible," many people exclaimed in admiration.
As Qin Feng left the Array, he had already bitten through his lip from the strain, and a trickle of blood ran from the corner of his mouth.
"Brother Lin, not bad, huh?" Qin Feng asked with a smile, looking at Lin Yun.
Lin Yun returned the smile. "Not bad at all. This score is good enough for the Elite Class. A Primordial Ocean Realm expert might even take an interest in you."
Qin Feng’s score caused quite a stir, but it wasn’t long before an even more outrageous result emerged.
It was Li Tian. Inside the Array, he activated his True Illusory Eyes and found the spot where the pressure was weakest.
"He’s passed ninety breaths... Am I seeing things? We actually have two people who’ve reached ninety breaths this year," a teacher said in shock.
Likewise, the eyes of a middle-aged man in the sky lit up as he watched Li Tian.
The man had fair skin and held a paper fan, giving him the appearance of a scholar. However, no one would be foolish enough to believe he was merely a frail intellectual.
"I’m taking this boy," the man said with a faint smile.
"Heh. This is the first time you’ve ever considered taking a student," the elder who had taken a liking to Qin Feng replied with a chuckle.
"My path is not one ordinary people can walk, but he is a perfect fit." A faint smile remained on the man’s face.
"One hundred breaths... He’s at one hundred breaths!" someone shouted excitedly once the mark was passed. It was an astounding score, especially when most others could barely last twenty breaths.
Li Tian’s final score settled at one hundred breaths. When he left the Array, his face was quite pale, but he was in much better shape than the others—at least he didn’t look completely wretched.
"Not bad. Looks like you still had energy to spare," Lin Yun said with a smile.
"I just found a shortcut, that’s all," Li Tian replied.
"Being able to find a shortcut is a skill in itself." The two chatted as the test continued, but there was nothing more worth watching. The remaining participants weren’t very strong, most of them lasting just over twenty breaths.
"That concludes the test. Class assignments will be announced tomorrow and posted in the Academy’s main square." Everyone had completed the test, but Lin Yun’s name had not been called.
Frowning, Lin Yun had a good idea of what was happening. ’I’ve been set up. Someone is trying to mess with me.’ As for who, Lin Yun didn’t even have to guess.
’Besides Tang Wushuang, who else could get an Academy teacher to frame a student?’
’It seems Tang Wushuang is being quite cautious with me. First, he gets me relegated to the General Class. Then, without any backing, wouldn’t I be at his mercy?’
’Tang Wushuang, you truly are a vile man,’ Lin Yun thought, a flicker of anger rising within him. ’People like him don’t care about promises or oaths. They’ll stop at nothing to get what they want.’
"Sir, I haven’t been tested yet," Lin Yun said, addressing the teacher in charge, even though he knew the outcome was already set in stone.
The teacher glanced at Lin Yun. It was obvious from the look in his eyes that he recognized him, but he put on an act and asked, "What’s your name?"
"Lin Shan."
"Lin Shan, let me see... Ah, you’ve already been tested. A score of three breaths. What a piece of trash. If you hadn’t completed the Trial Road, you wouldn’t even make it into the General Class," the teacher sneered.
Having said his piece, he ignored Lin Yun and departed with the other teachers.
As Lin Yun watched their retreating backs, his face was devoid of anger. His expression was frighteningly calm.
"Brother Lin, someone is obviously pulling strings behind the scenes! We should go to the Academy’s higher-ups and expose them!" Both Qin Feng and Li Tian could see that something was wrong, and Qin Feng’s voice was filled with rage.
A warmth spread through Lin Yun’s heart. Qin Feng and Li Tian were genuinely looking out for him. He looked at them and a small smile touched his lips.
"It’s no use. Since he dared to do this, he must have other plans in place. If it’s the General Class, then so be it. I’m curious to see what other tricks he has up his sleeve."
"But he framed you! Are we really just going to let it slide?" Qin Feng insisted.
"Don’t worry, I have my own way of handling this," Lin Yun said, patting them on the shoulders. "Your scores, on the other hand, are excellent. Let’s see what classes you get into tomorrow. Now that you’re in the Academy, you must train hard and strive to break through to the Qi Sea Realm as soon as possible."
Without dwelling on the matter any further, Lin Yun led Qin Feng and Li Tian back to their courtyard. Since the classes hadn’t been assigned, the three of them were still living together, but they would likely be separated after tomorrow.
After all, once they were assigned to classes, they would receive permanent rooms. Based on their scores, Qin Feng and Li Tian would be placed in the Elite Class at worst, and even had a shot at the Genius Class. As for Lin Yun, the best he could hope for was the General Class.
"Brother Lin, we can’t just swallow this insult! We have to let the Academy’s higher-ups know. This is just too much!" Back in their room, Qin Feng was fuming just thinking about what happened to Lin Yun.
"Report them? Who are you going to report to?" Li Tian said calmly. "Tang Wushuang is from a branch of the Royal Family. He definitely has plenty of teachers in the Academy on his side. I bet you’d be sent packing before you even got to see the higher-ups."
"Then what do we do? Just accept it?" Qin Feng demanded. "This is about the resources we’ll get in the Academy! You know how pitiful the resources for the General Class are."
Qin Feng was genuinely furious. In his heart, he already saw Lin Yun as his own big brother. To see him framed so inexplicably, his rage was palpable.
Lin Yun remained silent through Qin Feng’s tirade. ’The most important thing is not to expose my identity,’ he thought. ’Everything else is acceptable.’
’So what if I’m a General Class student?’ Lin Yun firmly believed his cultivation speed wouldn’t be the least bit slower than those in the Elite Class, even with their abundant supply of Academy resources.
"Alright, don’t worry about this. I know what I’m doing," Lin Yun finally said. "As for you, Qin Feng, you need to focus on your training in the Academy. Don’t just work on your strength; you need to hone your temperament as well."
Hearing Lin Yun’s words, Qin Feng, who had been about to complain more, just nodded obediently. If Lin Yun said he had a way, then Qin Feng believed him.
"Looks like your life at the Academy is going to be very interesting," Li Tian said to Lin Yun with a smile.
At that, Lin Yun looked at Li Tian, a smile also appearing on his face. But no matter how one looked at it, his smile held a distinct chill.
"Yes, it certainly won’t be boring. I’m even getting a little excited myself. I just hope Eldest Young Master Tang doesn’t disappoint me."
