Chapter 2497: Chapter 2498: Invitation
More and more hidden Divine Beasts are appearing, plunging the Main World into turmoil. Feng Yuan knows the truth but feels helpless, as they cannot reveal it. Nations outside of the United Army in the Alliance are anxious, and even the Alliance itself is not faring well.
With the formation of the United Army, the Alliance’s planned counterattack has long been abandoned because those willing to fight have already joined the United Army and exited the Alliance’s action group. The remaining ones are just a mob, unable to suddenly change their stance.
With these people alone, the Alliance cannot organize an effective counterattack. Especially in the current situation, they are more concerned about the Divine Beasts’ intentions.
Whether they admit it or not, the Alliance’s biggest reliance remains on the Divine Beasts. Without the Divine Beasts, they are not completely doomed, but they struggle to manage various aspects as before.
"Such a big commotion, is Agunas really planning to kill a few chickens to scare those guys?"
Feng Yuan naturally couldn’t ignore the commotion caused by the Divine Beasts, or indeed, he found it strange because he already knew what they were going to do.
This approach is likely to provoke someone even if the Temple hasn’t appeared.
"I’m not sure, the Little Crocodile’s actions this time feel odd."
Veronia said with some helplessness. Although she wasn’t involved in their actions, Agunas specially notified her beforehand. Yet, in the blink of an eye, the Divine Beasts were creating a terrifying atmosphere. Veronia couldn’t grasp what they intended.
Indeed, in Veronia’s eyes, these beings were creating a depressing atmosphere through their actions. The chaos on the internet was evident, as humans received no information amidst the growing number of Divine Beasts appearing. Feeling calm was impossible.
Who knows what so many Divine Beasts intend, considering their last collective action was during the World War. Although this event resembles a World War, it’s essentially internal conflicts.
Thus, initially, many Divine Beasts chose not to meddle in this, but now their sudden emergence naturally leads to suspicion.
"Hope they don’t act recklessly and escalate things. But with such commotion, how do they plan to handle the Temple challenge?"
With a sigh, Feng Yuan didn’t intend to intervene; surely Agunas and others have their sense, even if they don’t, he has no choice but to let it be. Disrupting their plan could easily create chaos.
Feng Yuan was indeed curious about how they plan to address the Temple’s challenge amidst this commotion, knowing the Temple doesn’t simply appear but requires Beastmasters to pass the challenge to unlock it.
Even if Feng Yuan knew how to establish the Temple, he couldn’t correctly build it or let the Divine Beasts bestow blessings.
Due to the limitation of the Beastmaster identity, Agunas and the others cannot violently break through the challenge. Thus, they need human assistance.
Amidst such upheaval, suddenly seeking help makes Feng Yuan suspicious that people might misunderstand.
"Could it be they’ll ask you for help?"
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia casually remarked. She didn’t consider it likely as Agunas is not the type to play surprise attacks. If there were a true plan, they would have informed Feng Yuan earlier, otherwise, it could be troublesome if he was occupied when help was needed.
If it were a minor issue, it’s okay; but for a major one, Feng Yuan might not make it back in time.
"Probably not; they never mentioned this to me. Hmm, could be Divine Pact Makers?"
Thinking about Wu Feng and others, Feng Yuan speculated. Compared to seeking his help, utilizing Divine Pact Makers seemed simpler, as they are easier to contact and keep secrets.
Since the Divine Beast Contract isn’t casually signed, Divine Beasts recognize Divine Pact Makers before they agree to the contract.
However, unbeknownst to Feng Yuan, Agunas indeed didn’t plan to involve him but instead chose a person surprising to most.
Old Wei returned from The Imperial Timeline, observing the scene fallen into chaos due to Divine Beasts constantly appearing, showing a slight cold smile. Those people haven’t changed.
"Didn’t ask him, but instead, asked me for help... Heh, this time I’ll let it go."
Gazing at the blue sky, Old Wei walked into the shadows. If possible, he didn’t wish to wait for so-called teammates, but this operation was too critical. Having promised the other party, he won’t let personal likes and dislikes cause complications unless provoked.
Gladys looked at Anna continuously peering from the Cocoon of Destiny with concern. As the war unfolded, Anna’s daily divination became routine for them.
However, starting a few days ago, the previously slightly chaotic future web underwent a transformation, where the threads indicating probable futures turned into a dense Cocoon of Destiny.
This implied a sudden rise in future possibilities, and although Gladys didn’t know the cause, she knew one thing: such change surely signifies massive alteration in the Main World, resulting in an unclear future.
Events indeed aligned with her prediction, as the prolific emergence of Divine Beasts indicated this change, albeit uncertain whether it’s good or bad.
The Cocoon of Destiny slowly faded, revealing Anna’s weary form. Gladys worriedly supported her, saying
"Are you alright?"
"Still unable to peer into the future."
Anna softly shook her head and spoke. Unlike before when obscure insights into the future were possible, now she can’t glimpse any traces of it. She had a feeling that the future seen through the Ultimate Move differs entirely from the actual future.
"Wonder if he knows anything."
Gladys sighed, casting a curious glance towards the window where a special cat sat quietly with an envelope. The cat appeared more an energy body, though its form was feline.
Its semi-translucent body glowed faintly, while the envelope remained a tangible entity. Gladys approached, puzzled, and picked up the envelope, the cat meowed, seemingly waiting for something.
Anna floated over, vigilantly watching the cat. Though not a Spirit Beast, it vaguely felt threatening, indicating trouble.
"An invitation from Agunas? Participating in a significant matter? Keep quiet, even Lanadi is invited?"
After reading the letter, Gladys pondered momentarily, then asked Anna beside her
"What do you think?"
"It must be them; no one can impersonate Divine Beasts easily. Even if we don’t know the appearance of their messenger."
"But why choose you?"
Anna didn’t doubt the letter’s authenticity from Agunas. As Divine Beasts, they naturally have certain privileges, including warnings against impersonation. If someone attempted it, they would promptly be aware.
Moreover, this could be verified with Feng Yuan, unless immediate action was demanded.
The only puzzling aspect was, why did they choose Gladys? Among Beastmasters, Gladys wasn’t exceptionally strong. Given Agunas’ status, Anna couldn’t fathom the reason for needing Gladys’ assistance.
With Agunas’ authority, they could easily seek help from the United Army, unless there’s a special reason.
"The unknown is intriguing. Besides, she received the invitation too. Knowing her, she wouldn’t refuse, so let me see what actually necessitates Agunas personally inviting us for assistance."
Taking a pen, Gladys marked "Agree" on the letter, returned it to the envelope, and handed it to the cat. The cat leapt and vanished before her eyes.
"The power of time, likely indeed its messenger. Should we verify?"
Anna looked at Gladys, who subtly smiled, saying
"Certainly. Maybe he knows what Agunas is truly planning."
