Chapter 2495: Chapter 2496: A Shroud of Mist

The rain had not ceased. After completing their patrol, Qi Chen and his group hurried to find Feng Yuan. Although they could inquire via phone, they realized from their previous experience that some matters required face-to-face communication. After all, Feng Yuan couldn’t possibly assess their situation over the phone.

The doorbell rang, and Feng Yuan opened the door, a bit puzzled, only to see Qi Chen and his group looking somewhat confused, yet those expressions quickly transforming into surprise.

"I didn’t expect you would come to find me, though it seems it’s quite a coincidence. It looks like this matter isn’t that simple."

Feng Yuan spoke in words that left Qi Chen and his group somewhat perplexed. He directly welcomed them into his home, where they saw Zhanzheng Qichen sitting on the sofa. Both were momentarily stunned. Zhanzheng Qichen merely glanced at them without much concern.

The version of himself in this world had a good relationship with Feng Yuan, so it wasn’t unusual for the other party to seek Feng Yuan at this time. Instead, Tamur watched Qi Chen and then Zhanzheng Qichen with a puzzled expression.

"Is something wrong?"

Originally intending to privately ask Feng Yuan upon seeing his parallel timeline self, Qi Chen noticed Tamur’s strange gaze, wondering if Tamur was staring at him and the others.

"You should have realized."

Tamur’s words left everyone bewildered. Feng Yuan nodded, examining Qi Chen and his group before saying,

"Very unbelievable; I don’t know why they ended up involved in the same incident. Moreover, this event carries such clear omens. I don’t believe my luck is good enough to be friends with the savior, even if the savior arranged it."

"Savior? Incident?"

Qi Chen was completely at a loss. What was Feng Yuan talking about? Dou Yanlan also didn’t understand the meaning behind Feng Yuan’s words, while Zhanzheng Qichen pondered. He had a rough idea of what was happening due to previous conversations; although his understanding couldn’t compare to Feng Yuan, he could analyze some aspects based on the available intelligence.

The fact was that both he and the version of himself in this world had unwittingly entered into a matter significant enough to affect global affairs due to some strange reason.

If it were just him and Bai You, it wouldn’t be an issue. Their strength barely suffices for participation, but the version of himself in this world clearly shouldn’t possess such strength.

However, if Feng Yuan wasn’t joking, then it must indeed be the case. So, what kind of event was it to involve the version of himself in this world?

Looking towards Feng Yuan, Zhanzheng Qichen quickly cast aside those thoughts. It was impossible if it were due to Feng Yuan; he couldn’t be unaware, and even if confused, he would still realize the circumstances.

"Well, how should I put this, it’s just..."

Explaining the existing intelligence once more, Feng Yuan felt a bit of a headache. If it were other people, it wouldn’t matter, but Qi Chen and his group were significant to him in this world. If they were involved, he couldn’t simply stand by and watch.

However, the current problem was that while they knew something was about to happen, they had no idea what exactly was happening.

After a round of discussions, they couldn’t reach any useful conclusions, though halfway through Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan explained the strange premonitions they experienced. But that merely confirmed things; it did not allow them to deduce a credible explanation.

Ultimately, the group had to bury their concerns deep in their hearts. Given the current intelligence, they had no inkling of what would happen, and although the incident would influence global affairs, it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Just like with the Temple, Feng Yuan did not speak directly but hinted at the existence of this matter. It had a significant impact, yet judging its nature—good or bad—remained challenging.

"Hey! Do you think the Main World is totally undefeatable?"

On the way back, Bai You couldn’t help but ask. Zhanzheng Qichen hesitated slightly, then continued walking without turning his head.

"The chances of winning are very low, and more importantly, we have no reason to be enemies."

The situation of East Continent Great Xia in the Imperial Timeline wasn’t particularly favorable. Under such circumstances, Zhanzheng Qichen couldn’t figure out a reason to oppose the Main World.

Is it simply because they belong to different worlds?

Ha, that’s laughable. Unlike the Imperial Timeline, grudges among nations in the War Timeline had long become irreconcilable. Moreover, they had yet to see any indication that everything within the timeline shares a fate of mutual prosperity and decline.

Rather than starting as enemies, it would be better to cooperate. Even if there’s a risk of betrayal, compared to confronting the Main World, it might actually prove beneficial for East Continent Great Xia.

Furthermore, Zhanzheng Qichen did not believe that various nations would unite wholeheartedly against the Main World. This time, their actions against the Main World and the Imperial Timeline by themselves served as the best example.

Perhaps due to the previous attitude, the United Army did not list East Continent Great Xia as an enemy, although they raised their guard against them.

This further convinced Zhanzheng Qichen that cooperating with Great Xia might not be a bad thing.

On the other side, after Zhanzheng Qichen’s group left, Qi Chen’s group did not immediately leave. Instead, they stayed in Feng Yuan’s dormitory. Qi Chen couldn’t shake the feeling that Feng Yuan had left certain things unsaid. While he didn’t want to pry into Feng Yuan’s privacy, he sensed that Feng Yuan possibly wanted to share something privately with them.

Pouring a cup of water for them, Feng Yuan glanced at Veronia and said,

"Although I shouldn’t tell you, since it’s a very dangerous secret, considering the current situation is already quite troublesome, it wouldn’t hurt to add a bit more."

Looking at Feng Yuan with curiosity, Qi Chen didn’t quite understand his meaning. Veronia understood, expanding the Mirror Space from the World of Mirrors. No means could pry into this space.

"Well, how should I say this, actually, there’s something Agunas is considering how to handle..."

After pondering for a moment, Feng Yuan explained the matter about the Temple. Originally, he didn’t intend to tell Qi Chen’s group, given that knowing too many secrets wasn’t necessarily good. However, now that they’ve been involved in a bizarre event, although the likelihood is low, what if it relates to the Temple?

"Do you think our premonitions relate to the Temple?"

Looking at Feng Yuan with curiosity, Dou Yanlan couldn’t connect the two matters.

"Not certain, just better to be prepared, since such omens can’t be taken lightly."

With a helpless smile, Feng Yuan confessed. Indeed, if it were a mere trivial matter, he wouldn’t have received omens himself. Yet, he didn’t understand what the actual matter was.

"A warning... Should we temporarily leave Maomu City if every crisis will chase us?"

Looking at Feng Yuan, Dou Yanlan decided, but Feng Yuan shook his head and said,

"No need, stay here; I can provide support if anything happens. Moreover, it might not be the event chasing you, since the omen merely indicates involvement, including Zhanzheng Qichen from the War Timeline and Bai You."

"It’s quite strange that Bai You is involved; she doesn’t know us, nor is she from the same world. Why would she be concerned? Have you seen anyone else?"

Lightly pinching her chin, Dou Yanlan querying. Feng Yuan understood and thought for a moment, saying,

"Had a quick check; Maomu City isn’t the focus. At least, there’s no evidence of others being drawn into the incident, so I don’t understand the situation."

An incident must occur at a location; however, through Divine Sense, Feng Yuan didn’t see anyone else at the Academy involved in the omen. Although it might not happen at Maomu Academy, it might instead occur in Maomu City, yet Feng Yuan felt this possibility was low.

Since even Zhanzheng Qichen from the War Timeline got involved, such a small range isn’t plausible. Regardless, Maomu Academy should be unavoidable unless the incident doesn’t relate to Maomu City.

"This incident doesn’t relate to Maomu City, yet involved us. Could the Domain be at fault? But how did Zhanzheng Qichen from the War Timeline get involved?"

Despite previous discussions about this matter, Dou Yanlan still sensed its significance. Unfortunately, due to a lack of clues, everything felt like a tangled mess.

"Agunas already made a decision regarding the Temple, but why notify me specifically? Is it uncertain?"

At that moment, Veronia suddenly spoke. Though she expanded the special space, it did not interfere with receiving special transmissions. The transmission from Agunas temporarily shifted attention away from the omen towards the matter of the Temple.
