Chapter 2490: Chapter 2491: Doubt
Just like Feng Yuan wasn’t worried about any unexpected consequences by telling Veronia this news, even knowing it was important, Veronia didn’t tell others or the Divine Beasts, not even Agunas, she didn’t specifically sound him out.
Tamur was even less involved. He had little connection with most Divine Beasts; the only ones he knew better were because of Feng Yuan and Agunas.
Under such circumstances, he naturally wouldn’t blabber, so when Qiu Hanmo saw Veronia’s serious demeanor, they thought something bad had happened again.
Of course, strictly speaking, something not particularly good was indeed about to happen.
This attack was only meant to stop Maomu City from sending reinforcements; thus, with the white-robed man being killed, Liantang Town returned to peace again, and Feng Yuan didn’t linger there for long. Even though other places haven’t been patrolled yet, Veronia needed a place to calm down.
In Kui Shan Town, An gazed at the sky in silence. He didn’t know why he received this enlightenment or warning. Looking at the light pillar behind him, he remembered the previous arrival of Feng Yuan, and he sighed.
Compared to Liantang Town, Maomu City’s district, due to Feng Yuan’s absence, even though there were more capable Beastmasters, they were held back longer than those in Liantang Town. Upon returning to Maomu City, seeing the city evidently ravaged by warfare, Feng Yuan helplessly said:
"I didn’t expect the district to have fought so fiercely."
"During this time, I must trouble you."
Gently patting the White Shadow Wolf beneath him, Feng Yuan smiled and said. Since he plans to travel in the coming days, Feng Yuan chose to use the White Shadow Wolf temporarily as a ride to save time and energy.
The Fluffy Fire Wolfhound didn’t feel anything special; even in Liantang Town, it and Xiao Ji could only deal with those armored demons. Even so, it still felt very exhausted, and under such circumstances, it didn’t plan on carrying Feng Yuan through all places.
Back at the academy dormitory, Feng Yuan found Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan guarding at the door and said somewhat strangely:
"Why are you here? If you have something to find me for, just call me."
Although Feng Yuan had gone to the surrounding towns today, this didn’t mean his phone was unreachable. With the help of the Data Domain, as long as it’s in the Main World, there are hardly any places where there would be no signal.
"Um, Feng Yuan..."
Looking at Feng Yuan, Qi Chen hesitated to speak, Feng Yuan frowned slightly, what happened here? Dou Yanlan hesitated for a moment, glanced at Qi Chen, then stepped forward and said:
"Actually, just now, Ah Chen had a bad premonition, like encountering something very terrifying, but we don’t know what it is."
"Uh, a bad premonition?"
Puzzled, Feng Yuan studied Qi Chen, feeling somewhat puzzled. The other party didn’t have talents for prophecy or foresight, and his combat intuition mostly gave him direct perception and acute instinct for battle, which had nothing whatsoever to do with prophecy.
Feng Yuan also knew they wouldn’t joke with him, much less about such matters, carefully observing, Feng Yuan rubbed his chin and said:
"Seems like there’s nothing here."
"What is the premonition exactly, can you describe it?"
Staring at Qi Chen, Feng Yuan tried to gain clues through questioning, but Qi Chen tried many times and failed to accurately describe that kind of fear, which seemed like staring death in the face, yet carried endless regret or even guilt and sadness. Not only was it hard to describe, but recalling it repeatedly made Qi Chen feel very uncomfortable.
Stopping Qi Chen from recalling that feeling again, Feng Yuan looked at Tamur and said:
"Any discoveries?"
Slightly swaying his body, Tamur said:
"No, everything is normal."
"Very strange, lacking prophecy ability, yet suddenly having such strange premonitions, if it were a curse or something, it couldn’t be without any trace."
Scanning Qi Chen with an examining gaze, for a moment, Feng Yuan couldn’t understand the situation; if it were things like precognitive dreams, that would involve the entanglement of temporal forces.
From the occurrence until now, not much time has passed at all, if truly precognitive, it couldn’t leave no traces.
Feng Yuan now understood why Qi Chen and the others were waiting for him here instead of calling him.
They were unclear what he was doing at the time, and they couldn’t confirm certain things over the phone; if they directly called Feng Yuan back, not only would Qi Chen feel bad, but they were also afraid of causing a chain reaction.
"Shouldn’t be illusionary, nor related to foresight..."
Dou Yanlan thought aloud; although they could rely on Feng Yuan, at this point, they were trying to find the answer themselves too. Unfortunately, even Feng Yuan was clueless; naturally, they couldn’t figure out the result.
"Unrelated to time, nor illusion, or foreboding like curses, could it be..."
Beside them, Veronia seemed to think of something, and indeed, it was related to her Authority, considering that her Authority made her lean towards that direction.
"Which one?"
Curiously turning to Veronia, Feng Yuan genuinely didn’t understand what she meant.
"Special isotope intersection."
Unlike Feng Yuan, Veronia had no fondness for teasing; she directly said the answer. Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan exchanged puzzled glances and said:
"Isotope?"
Lightly pinching his chin, Feng Yuan muttered while lowering his head:
"Isotope? This is indeed possible—the experiences of Parallel World isotope? Could it be Zhanzheng Qichen? But why did an isotope intersection occur? Could Zhanzheng Qichen have done something?"
Feng Yuan knew that Zhanzheng Qichen was currently not in the Main World, thus in theory, the isotope intersection of Parallel Worlds shouldn’t be happening.
Isotope intersection refers to the same target, existing in different temporal or spatial layers or other special levels, due to various reasons, undergoing information swaps between isotopes. Often, this leads to unusual conditions.
In Qi Chen’s case, experiencing strange memories or perceptions, it was actually considered relatively mild; in severe cases, there could be identity and relationship network chaos.
However, generally speaking, even if two isotopes stood together, an isotope intersection wouldn’t happen; otherwise, Zhanzheng Qichen wouldn’t have stayed in Maomu City so long.
However, if a superposition occurs between different levels, isotope intersection can randomly appear, meaning the Main World is currently manifesting an obscure superposition with Zhanzheng Qichen leading to Qi Chen’s strange perception.
Once Feng Yuan explained the situation of isotope intersection, Qi Chen queried:
"So, this fear is something experienced by me in the Imperial Timeline? But..."
For some reason, Qi Chen felt something wasn’t quite right, but at this moment, Veronia appeared and checked, confirming that it was indeed an isotope intersection happening in Qi Chen.
Previously, they hadn’t discovered it because Feng Yuan’s instinct was to track it in the direction of time, hence naturally missing clues involving spatial hierarchies, even if the intersection involved the temporal stream Qi Chen, its essence remained a spatial hierarchy intersection.
And that was precisely why Feng Yuan suspected Zhanzheng Qichen also couldn’t remain idle and intended on doing something.
"Seems that we’ve got little time to hesitate now."
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia said in a low tone. Feng Yuan understood her meaning; if Zhanzheng Qichen enters play, the Temple situation most likely becomes urgent because facing this bifurcated time or rather this single timeline war, the Temple can effectively limit the unrestricted time line jumping, significantly reducing pressure of guarding the backlines.
This would allow the United Army to free more forces to engage with the Imperial Timeline on the direct battlefield.
However, Feng Yuan didn’t have thoughts of urging or advancing this matter, because the Temple’s existence would have enormous impacts, not to mention how the entire Main World was currently unsettled, so it’s hard to predict what might happen, and Feng Yuan felt it wouldn’t be something good.
"Little time left?"
Qi Chen and Dou Yanlan didn’t comprehend what Feng Yuan and Veronia were discussing, and Feng Yuan had no intention of explaining. After some casual conversation and comforting Qi Chen briefly, Feng Yuan parted with them back to his dormitory.
Though Qi Chen got the truth from Feng Yuan, he still felt something was off; however, for now, he couldn’t get a precise answer to this question.
