Chapter 1842: War God Body!

Damian Voss narrowed his eyes. "His body is far stronger than I expected."

Orion Starfall’s smile grew brighter. "He really is fighting Rakan with nothing but his body."

Kaiden Voidmere watched with deep and thoughtful eyes. "There is no visible bloodline armor, no sword path, and no external force at work. What we are seeing is his base body."

Ervin kept his gaze fixed on Max. "That is no ordinary dragon physique. There is something else beneath it."

Revona’s eyes opened a fraction wider, and even she appeared somewhat surprised.

Aurelian Lareth’s expression turned colder, while Selene Vaeloria stared at Max with her hands clenched tight. Her earlier defeat at his hands suddenly felt even more humiliating than before. If Max’s body alone was enough to trade blows with Rakan like this, then how much had he truly held back during their battle near the Witch God Tree?

Outside the Eternal Hourglass, the viewing plaza of the Black Dragon Clan erupted.

"He took Rakan’s punch!"

"He did more than take it. He pushed Rakan back!"

"Max never even drew Dragonheart!"

"He is genuinely fighting the first Warlord with his body alone!"

Lady Virelia’s eyes gleamed faintly, and the seven family heads standing beside her looked far more animated than before. Matthew Grimes slowly curled his hand into a fist, unable to conceal the shock in his eyes.

"This boy," he muttered. "Just how many foundations is he hiding?"

At the War God Palace, the disciples no longer shouted so carelessly. They still believed in Rakan, but the easy confidence they had carried into the match had been shaken. Their first Warlord had failed to crush Max instantly, and that fact alone was enough to plant disbelief in many of their hearts.

On the central stage, Rakan drew a slow breath, looked at Max, and laughed once more. This laugh was different from the ones before it. It was not casual in the slightest, for it overflowed with genuine excitement.

"Max Morgan," Rakan said, his voice deep and resonant, "you are the first person in this entire conference who has made me happy in a contest of body against body."

Max smiled. "Then continue."

Rakan shook his head. "No. Not like this."

Max raised an eyebrow.

Rakan slowly lifted both arms and clenched his fists. The bronze markings running across his arms began to glow with growing intensity. At first they resembled old scars, but soon they took on the appearance of ancient runes seared directly into his flesh.

A crushing pressure radiated outward from his body, and the faint rhythm of a war drum seemed to echo from somewhere deep within his bones.

Outside the Eternal Hourglass, the disciples of the War God Palace shot to their feet.

"He is using it!"

"The War God Body!"

"The first limit! He is opening the first limit!"

"Rakan is finally taking him seriously!"

Across the Divine Realm, countless spectators snapped to attention. The War God Body stood among the greatest body cultivation inheritances of the War God Palace. It was said to contain seven limits, and each limit represented a shackle bound around the physical body.

For an ordinary body cultivator, breaking even the first limit was enough to transform them into a terrifying genius. Breaking the second could allow a cultivator to dominate an entire generation within the same realm, and breaking the third was a feat reserved for the true monsters of the War God Palace alone.

Rakan Thorne, the strongest inheritor of the War God Body in the current generation, had already broken three of those limits. Now he was opening the first.

A deep rumbling rose from Rakan’s body. It was not the sound of flowing energy. It was the sound of flesh, bones, blood, muscles, tendons, and organs awakening in unison.

"War God Body," Rakan said slowly.

The bronze light surrounding him erupted.

"First Limit. War Blood Awakening."

Boom!

The stage sank beneath him, and a terrifying wave of physical pressure swept outward like a storm. Rakan’s blood seemed to roar within his veins, and his skin gleamed with a bronze luster that made him resemble a living statue of war.

His muscles did not swell grotesquely, yet the density of his body had visibly changed, as though a single layer of the power sealed within every inch of his flesh had just been unlocked.

Max’s eyes sharpened. He could feel it with absolute clarity. Rakan’s strength had increased, and not by some slight or trivial margin. The instant the first limit opened, Rakan’s physical power had climbed to an entirely different level.

Rakan sank into his stance, and his grin returned.

"Now, Max Morgan, let us see how long that body of yours can keep up."

He vanished.

Max’s pupils contracted. Rakan reappeared directly in front of him and struck, and Max crossed both arms to block.

Boom!

The impact crashed into him like a divine mountain falling out of the sky. For the first time in the battle, Max was driven backward. His feet dragged across the dark gold stage and carved two deep trenches into it before he finally steadied himself.

The Divine Realm erupted once again. At the War God Palace, the disciples roared until the battlefield plaza itself seemed to shake.

"That is it!"

"The First Limit!"

"War Blood Awakening!"

"Crush him, Rakan!"

At the Black Dragon Clan, the disciples grew anxious once more, and their earlier excitement hardened into tense, clenched-jaw silence.

"He was pushed back."

"The first limit raised Rakan’s strength by too much."

"Can Max really keep this up without drawing Dragonheart?"

Lady Virelia watched in silence, but her eyes never strayed from Max for even a moment.

On the stage, Max lowered his arms. A faint red mark lingered on his forearms, and then it vanished almost as quickly as it had appeared. Rakan noticed, and his eyes lit up.

"Even that failed to injure you properly?"

Max rolled his shoulders and regarded Rakan with unmistakable interest. "That was better."

Rakan stared at him for a moment, and then he laughed louder than before. "Good. Then do not disappoint me too quickly."

Max smiled faintly and closed both fists. "I was about to say the same to you."

In the next instant, both of them moved, and the true battle of bodies finally began.
