Chapter 1713 - Mysterious Broken Blade

Liu Wuxie's answer naturally caught Ye Linghan by surprise. She hadn't expected him to respond so directly.

"Then, do you know who's the mastermind behind my father's poisoning?" Ye Linghan asked. Her purpose was to determine whether Liu Wuxie had any connection to the Wen Clan.

After all, Liu Wuxie had only joined the Peace and Stability Merchant Association yesterday, and he had no background to speak of. He seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, so she naturally couldn't help suspecting him.

Ye Linghan fixed her gaze firmly on Liu Wuxie. As a profound immortal, she believed she would naturally detect any lie from him.

"I don't know," Liu Wuxie replied, shaking his head with a helpless look in his eyes. If he had known, he never would have entered the City Lord Mansion in the first place.

Ye Linghan found nothing suspicious in Liu Wuxie's eyes and could confirm that he had no connection to the Wen Clan. His appearance had merely been a coincidence.

"How did you appear in the depths of the Dragon Burial Mountain Range then? You couldn't have entered such a deep area with your cultivation," Ye Linghan asked. She was still brooding over what had happened yesterday and couldn't be certain whether Liu Wuxie had seen anything. After all, he had already climbed ashore by the time she emerged from the water.

"No comment on that," Liu Wuxie replied.

"You're not afraid that I'll search your soul?" Ye Linghan asked, her face turning cold as she released a surge of chill toward Liu Wuxie.

However, Liu Wuxie remained unmoved beneath her suppression. The Heavenly Dao Book easily neutralized the pressure, and he rose to his feet.

"Young Lady Ye, if you have nothing else, I'll be taking my leave," Liu Wuxie said as he stood up. Since Ye Linghan had agreed to let him go, he walked toward the exit.

"Hold on!" Ye Linghan said, rising to her feet.

"What else?" Liu Wuxie asked, turning around with displeasure.

"I'm grateful to you for treating my father, and this is a token of gratitude from me. Please accept it," Ye Linghan said, taking out an interspatial ring and handing it to Liu Wuxie.

Liu Wuxie only glanced at it before accepting it. He urgently needed resources, and this could ease his immediate crisis.

"I won't stand on ceremony then," Liu Wuxie said, slipping the interspatial ring onto his finger.

That casual action caught Ye Linghan off guard. After all, even a lowly guard would usually possess an interspatial ring, yet Liu Wuxie didn't have one. Did that mean he didn't even have a single immortal stone on him?

Liu Wuxie pushed open the doors and walked out of the hall.

Chen An was chatting casually with the steward, who had personally delivered the escort payment.

"Are you done?" Chen An asked, ending his conversation with the steward when he saw Liu Wuxie come out.

"Yeah," Liu Wuxie replied with a nod. With that, the group of seven left the City Lord Mansion.

Everyone in the group felt as though they had lived through an entire lifetime, enduring both ice and fire in a single night. Just when they thought they would die in the City Lord Mansion, matters had taken such a turn. The steward even told Chen An that the City Lord Mansion would cooperate more with the Peace and Stability Merchant Association in the future. Aside from escorting immortal beasts, the City Lord Mansion would also entrust the Peace and Stability Merchant Association with other forms of cooperation.

The group didn't linger in Fourfold City. They planned to purchase some goods before beginning their journey back to Moon Reverence City.

When Liu Wuxie scanned the interspatial ring with his divine sense, his eyes narrowed slightly. Aside from ten thousand immortal stones, he also found several decent second-grade immortal pills inside. As expected of the City Lord Mansion, they were truly generous.

With those second-grade immortal pills, Liu Wuxie wouldn't have much trouble reaching the ninth-level Heavenly Immortal Realm.

"I'll give you all two hours to make purchases. We'll gather at the city gate in two hours," Chen An said to everyone.

Fourfold City prospered far beyond Moon Reverence City, and many items sold here did not exist back in their own city.

Liu Wuxie strolled along the streets, intending to purchase a suitable weapon. He had left Heretic Blade in the mortal realm, and since he had just arrived in the celestial realm, he didn't have a weapon he could properly use.

For now, he planned to stop using techniques like the Nine Absolute Fist and the Great Five Elemental Immortal Art. It wasn't that they lacked power; he worried that using them might expose his identity.

He still didn't know whether news of him had already reached the celestial realm. Back then, the Grand Unity Sect's avatar phantom hadn't appeared among the Grand Unity Sect's group, and he suspected that the avatar phantom had returned to the celestial realm.

With his talent, it was only a matter of time before his name spread throughout the celestial realm. If he revealed his identity before reaching the Immortal Emperor Realm, enemies would surround and attack him from all sides.

He could still use the Divine Mystic Yin Needle, since everyone who had seen it had already died. Moreover, the Divine Mystic Yin Needle had originally been an immortal art from the celestial realm.

When Liu Wuxie entered a blacksmithing shop, a dazzling array of goods filled his vision. The shop was also bustling with customers, and many cultivators were choosing suitable weapons. Most of them had reached the High Immortal Realm, since the Heavenly Immortal Realm stood only at the bottom of the food chain.

......

"Where are they now?" Ye Linghan asked in the main hall, constantly seeking updates on Liu Wuxie's group.

"They have split up to buy supplies. None of them had any interaction with the Wen Clan," a guard reported.

"Pay close attention to them, including their purchases. I want to know everything," Ye Guhai said this time. His complexion had improved greatly compared to yesterday, and he had basically recovered.

"Understood!"

The guard left to continue watching Liu Wuxie's group.

Liu Wuxie naturally noticed that someone had tailed him after he had left the City Lord Mansion, but he pretended not to know. He circled the counter once, where most of the displayed weapons were longswords.

It wasn't that Liu Wuxie disliked swords. On the contrary, sword techniques moved with more cunning trajectories. However, he still preferred blades because they were convenient to carry and possessed both the slyness of a sword and the dominance of a blade.

Blades naturally came in many forms as well, and Liu Wuxie had no intention of choosing a broad saber.

"Can I have a look at that blade?" Liu Wuxie asked, pointing toward a short blade hanging on the stone wall.

The shopkeeper glanced at Liu Wuxie before taking the short blade down. This blade was expensive, priced at eight thousand immortal stones, far beyond what ordinary heavenly immortals could afford.

Liu Wuxie drew the blade from its sheath. It was an excellent, razor-sharp blade. He swung it lightly through the air, producing a loud whistle as it sliced forward. However, it felt too light in his hand, so it didn't suit him well, though he was satisfied with the blade's shape and handle.

"Do you have a heavier blade in the same style?" Liu Wuxie asked after placing the blade down.

If there were no other options, he could only settle for this one and reforge it when he had the chance. He lacked materials now, but once he gathered enough, he could easily forge a blade for himself.

The shopkeeper was stunned. This blade catered to high immortals, yet Liu Wuxie, an eighth-level Heavenly Immortal, actually found it too light?

How could Liu Wuxie not understand what the shopkeeper was thinking? However, his immortal energy differed from that of ordinary cultivators, and his physique was also extremely powerful. Ordinary weapons naturally couldn't satisfy him.

"We don't have any," the shopkeeper said, putting the blade away and turning to attend to other customers. He clearly assumed Liu Wuxie had come to cause trouble.

Liu Wuxie didn't care about the shopkeeper's attitude and continued strolling around the shop. All of a sudden, the Heavenly Dao Book stirred and drew him toward a corner.

Ever since Liu Wuxie had entered the celestial realm, this was the first time the Heavenly Dao Book had taken the initiative to warn him of a treasure. This was unusual, and he believed he had discovered something.

He quickened his pace and headed toward the corner on the right, where a pile of damaged weapons lay stacked together. Most came from cultivators who had replaced their weapons and left the old ones there for the shop to sell on their behalf.

Some of the weapons were too damaged to sell, so the shop treated them as scrap metal.

Liu Wuxie began rummaging through the pile of damaged weapons. The mysterious force came from somewhere beneath them.

"Shopkeeper, can I pick one from here?" Liu Wuxie asked.

"Go ahead and pick whatever you want," the shopkeeper said.

He had basically concluded that Liu Wuxie was broke and couldn't afford a proper weapon, so he could only choose something from the trash pile. The old weapons here were sold cheaply at ten immortal stones each, regardless of size or grade.

Liu Wuxie moved the weapons on top aside and searched through the pile. The Heavenly Dao Book's reaction grew stronger with each passing moment. If it had come from the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron, then the item had to be a treasure worthy of devouring. But since it came from the Heavenly Dao Book, the object was likely a rare material or something similar.

The Heavenly Dao Book contained all kinds of sequences, especially those belonging to long-lost materials. Every additional sequence would make the Heavenly Dao Book more complete.

After rummaging through the pile for fifteen minutes, Liu Wuxie finally found a segment of a broken blade. It looked like an ordinary firewood chopper with its tip snapped off.

The moment Liu Wuxie gripped the broken blade, an icy aura swept through his body. The blade was only about thirty centimeters long, but it weighed ten times more than the short blade he had tested earlier. Rust covered the entire blade, and Liu Wuxie couldn't understand why the Heavenly Dao Book had chosen this broken weapon. Even so, he put his faith in the Heavenly Dao Book.

Holding the blade, Liu Wuxie emerged from the pile of damaged weapons, handed ten immortal stones to the shopkeeper, and left with the broken blade. His actions naturally drew disdainful looks from the surrounding customers when they saw him so excited to buy a piece of junk.

An hour had passed, and Liu Wuxie had already familiarized himself with Fourfold City's layout. He purchased some dry rations and daily necessities before heading toward the city gate.

He had put the broken blade away because there were too many people in the city, and he didn't want to attract unnecessary trouble.

The other guards had already gathered at the gate and were waiting for Liu Wuxie.

"Now that everyone's here, let's make our way back," Chen An declared.

The group left Fourfold City and began their journey back to Moon Reverence City. At their speed, the journey would take two days.

......

In the City Lord Mansion, the guards had organized all the information on the group and delivered it to Ye Guhai.

"This is strange. Why did he buy scrap metal?" Ye Linghan murmured after taking the information from Ye Guhai, who had finished reading through it.

She had given Liu Wuxie ten thousand immortal stones, which were more than enough for him to purchase a decent weapon.

"Father, I plan to personally make a trip to Moon Reverence City and continue my investigation. I have a feeling that he's not ordinary, and he likely has something hiding on him," Ye Linghan said, rising to her feet.
