“Explain.”
Keith Knight Pittman glared at Grayson, who was sitting across from him, gritting his teeth.
“Explain, about this article.”
The mansion where Grayson lived was a so-called large complex where only the rich lived, so the entrance was completely blocked. Thanks to this, the reporters who had gathered were blocked in front of the management office and were unable to even come near the top where Grayson lived. Because of this, even normal visitors had a hard time entering and exiting, but for Keith, it was impossible to wait in line like everyone else, follow the procedures, endure the boring time, show your ID at the management office, and get permission from the owner before passing through.
Grayson yawned and greeted the visitor, who had not yet shaken off his sleep, because of the visitor who had arrived early in the morning on a helicopter. Keith pushed Grayson away and barged into the house, standing in the middle of the hall and looking around.
“Where’s that guy?”
At the sudden question, Grayson scratched the back of his head and yawned again. Of course, Keith immediately noticed that this time he had made up his mind.
“You......!”
“Second floor.”
When Keith, who was about to shout, stopped, Grayson pointed upward with his second finger and said.
“Wait in the reception room on the second floor, I’ll be there soon.”
Grayson whistled and went up to the second floor first, leaving Keith behind who was seething inside. While Keith was calming down in the reception room, he brewed coffee in the snack room and brought it to him. And now, the two of them were sitting facing each other.
Keith gritted his teeth without even looking at the triple shot of espresso that Grayson had made.
“Spence asked us if we were getting a divorce.”
Spence, or Spencer, was Keith and Yeonwoo’s first child. Grayson looked surprised at the harsh words. What is this kid doing, did he realize the seriousness of the situation? When Keith hesitated, he immediately continued.
“You guys weren’t meant to be together.”
Keith’s face immediately turned grim as he sighed and shook his head. However, Grayson ignored him and continued to offer advice, uncharacteristically, while bringing his coffee to his mouth.
“If it’s alimony, you should go to Nathaniel, Keith. I’ll make sure you don’t lose a single penny. The legal fees might be a bit high, but it’s better than giving up half of your assets......”
“I’m not getting a divorce. Damn it, Yeonwoo and I will never break up!”
Keith shouted, unable to control his temper. His knuckles clenched into a fist, but Grayson’s reaction was calm.
“I don’t know what Yeonwoo thinks.”
The blood in Keith’s neck rose. Grayson continued to talk casually, even though his deep purple eyes were mixed with gold.
“If you’ve lived this long, Yeonwoo would have lasted a long time. You admit it too, just by putting up with your temper, you can tell how much Yeonwoo loves you.”
I should have brought a gun.
If Yeonwoo were here, she might have slapped Grayson in the face. Yeonwoo is usually gentle, but when she has to, she acts.
When Yeonwoo imagined slapping Grayson with all her might, Grayson added.
“If Yeonwoo’s heart has cooled, you must have done something too. You should have just killed your temper a little.”
I should have shot her with a gun.
She was about to take out her cell phone, thinking that she should call Whittaker, the head of the security team, and ask him to come up with the gun. The bell rang just then, and when she checked, it was from Yeonwoo. The face that had been filled with rage softened a little.
“It’s me, Yeonwoo.”
- Keith.
As soon as he spoke, Yeonwoo’s voice flowed out from the other end. He continued in a worried tone.
- Whatever Mr. Miller says, just ignore it. That’s just how he is. Don’t get too angry... ... Okay?
Yeonwoo urged him as if he had seen the situation right in front of him. As if he was worried that Keith might kill someone. In fact, since he was on the verge of doing that, Keith didn’t say much. Instead, he just sighed in frustration and swept his forehead with one hand. In fact, Yeonwoo had told him not to respond at all and just ignore it. He said it was just gossip and that this kind of rumor had come out more than once or twice, so it would be the same this time.
However, when he heard about the divorce from Spencer, his remaining patience completely ran out. He couldn’t stand it any longer, whether it was grabbing Grayson by the collar or blowing Dane Striker’s face off.
Yeonwoo, who knew his temper well, had no choice but to let him go, but she kept a worried expression on her face. Even in the midst of all this, there was no doubt that he cared about her. He loves Keith so much, what? Divorce? This damned punk... ... .
- Keith, it’s okay to be angry, but don’t use violence, okay? Think of me and the kids.
“......I know.”
Keith tried hard to suppress his boiling anger and barely managed to blurt out a word. Yeonwoo said as affectionately as usual.
- Yeah, I think you’ll do well. Come on, the kids want to see you. I’m waiting to have breakfast with you too.
When she heard those words, her anger subsided in an instant. Of course, it didn’t completely subside, but some sense returned.
“I love you, Keith.”
At Yeonwoo’s last words, Keith returned the same words.
“I love you, Yeonwoo.”
After hanging up the phone, his head was as cold as usual. After letting out a breath, Keith warned him again.
“Don’t let me and Yeonwoo get involved in your private life anymore, okay? If this happens again, I’ll sue you.”
“I didn’t publish the article?”
Grayson asked Keith, who was standing up, as if he was wronged. Keith glared at him with a scary gaze as he buttoned up his suit jacket.
“Is that piece of trash a piece of trash now?”
It meant that he had already taken care of it. After giving his final warning, Keith left the reception room. As soon as he got on the helicopter, the heavy aircraft took off with a loud noise.
As he looked up at the helicopter that was moving away after causing a commotion, Grayson suddenly felt a strange feeling. His face brightened as he looked up. Dane was leaning against the balcony railing of his room and looking down at Grayson.
Dane lightly waved one hand at Grayson who was waving both arms happily and said with a calm face.
“Let’s talk.”
The moment Grayson’s eyes sparkled, Dane added.
“While eating breakfast, in the snack room.”
The light in his eyes disappeared. Not wanting to hear what he imagined, Dane simply pushed himself away from the railing and went into the room without saying anything.
*
“The chief gave us a vacation.”
“A vacation? Suddenly?”
Grayson asked, unable to take his eyes off the plate containing Dane’s breakfast. The perfect fried eggs, lightly cooked bacon, and bread ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) were all perfect, and today Dane even brought out a salad. The reason was that the vegetables in the fridge were about to spoil. Without telling him that he had stopped making sandwiches, he put the bowl of vegetables on the bar table and started eating.
“There are reporters lined up in front of the fire station. It’ll be over in about a week, so don’t go near the fire station until then.”
“Then let’s go on a honeymoon.”
“Instead, I’m ordering you to go volunteer.”
Grayson froze with his bread at Dane’s indifferent words. Dane continued.
“There are a few organizations that have ties with the fire department. They go and do fire inspections, give education, and play with the kids... Damn it!”
Dane suddenly slammed his fist on the bar table with a curse as he spoke.
How did this happen?
Dane couldn’t understand it at all. Up until now, his life had been satisfactory. He had lived a quiet, ordinary life without being noticed, earning a decent amount of money, having sex to his heart’s content, and living peacefully.
What the heck is this all of a sudden?
