Chapter 61: Twenty-Nine Noblewomen on Their Knees: Are You Serious?
Cloth rustling sounds followed by dark amusement blasted through the sanctum as Maya Sirius stepped forward. "Diana."
She stretched her right arm calmly toward the high-tier noblewomen and drummed her fingers in the air, pointing straight at Empress Diana. "You look old when you panic."
Sharp crimson threadlike glows dashed out from the tips of Maya’s fingers when she laughed mockingly. "You and your toys should lower your guard... The rightful King has arrived to claim his awaiting throne."
The high-tier noblewomen’s faces hardened as they looked between the Crimson Sovereign and their Empress.
A bright colorful beam dashed out of them as they channeled their spiritual essence from the floating Aegis, and formed an impenetrable wall before Empress Diana and her daughter.
Metal clicking sounds echoed as the crimson threadlike glows landed on the wall, igniting sparkling embers.
The floor beneath the Empress gleamed with silver light as she turned and cast a cold gaze to Maya. "You..."
Faint bone-crackling sounds radiated from her as she pointed a sharp finger at her. "You traitorous whore!"
Sharp glows dashed out of her emerald eyes as she squinted at Maya’s neck. ’What is that...’
Saliva snaked down her throat when she saw the faint blackened energy flashing out of Maya’s skin like a corrupted spirit. "MAYA!"
Thick veins appeared on her wrist as she clenched her fist. "You bowed your knee to a useless utility slave!"
Chilled air flashed out of Empress Diana and vibrated on the impenetrable wall at her front. "You have disgraced the bloodline of mages!"
Skin-to-skin sounds erupted from behind Maya Sirius as Levi moved two steps forward, clapping. "Wow, what a glorious show."
A wide smile tore across his face as he blinked once at the twenty-nine high-tier noblewomen. ’They are all wonderfully made.’
The ground at his front glowed with a faint blue light as he stopped and leaned on the council table. "Didn’t imagine hearing all this."
His eyebrows narrowed as he squinted at the black, sparkling-haired lady with the fluffy cloak tugged on her shoulders. ’Damn... that’s every man’s type of lady.’
Hot air escaped Isabella’s mouth as she sighed and looked back at Levi with a sharp gaze. ’Does he think he’s someone special because he has whores around him?’
Cloth rustling sounds erupted from Isabella as she folded her arms under her heavy breasts, causing the fluffy cloak to screech against her tight silver gown.
Her chest rose and fell in heavy, silent frustration. "What are you standing there for... fools!"
Her face reddened when she turned her gaze to Agatha and the nineteen mages standing there like statues. "GO make him know his place!"
A tongue-clicking sound flashed through the chamber as Senna Drae moved a step forward, stopping right at Levi’s side. ’Your arrogance ends now, Isa.’
Her tugged dagger belt tore as she wrapped her fingers around the hilt and pulled it without even watching.
Sparkling dark glows seeped out of the blackened jagged dagger’s blade as she raised it and pointed it straight at the Empress and her daughter.
The moment Senna moved a step forward, Levi grabbed her by her left arm and shook his head. "No, no need for that."
Strands of her hair clicked against her forehead as she turned and threw a confused expression at Levi. ’Why... Master!’
Chills ran down her spine as beads of sweat began to form on her face. Her fingers went numb for a second when the warmth from Levi’s palms seeped into her bones.
Boots crashing sounds and screams filled the chamber as Agatha and the nineteen mages charged toward Levi and his four-woman group.
Just as Agatha closed within two feet of Mother Beatrice and Maya Sirius, she froze. With a single stamp of Levi’s boots, all moving particles fractured for a second.
The moment he raised his leg, time resumed, but the inner sanctum had lost its glorious essence.
Thick crack lines spread through the floor and shook the very foundation of the palace, followed by a faint blue glow that gashed out from his boots.
Metal clicking sounds erupted from Agatha’s back as one-third of the mages she was moving with rushed out of the chamber, leaving their swords dangling and rolling on the silver cracked floor.
Strands of Agatha’s white hair tugged themselves at her forehead as she slowly looked between the empty space and the faces of the four strong-looking women standing beside Levi. ’I’m cooked.’
A hot gasp flashed out of her mouth as she eyed the scared and trembling bodies of the high-tier noblewomen standing fifteen feet away. ’If I stand still, I’m dead.’
Agatha looked down at the silver sword held tight in her right palm, then blinked at its glowing blade. ’But I can still live when I lower my guard.’
Her eyes rolled in their sockets as tears welled up. Her vision hazed as she looked away from the sword and watched the Empress and her arrogant daughter standing at the other end of the protective wall, watching her with unfazed gazes. ’What will I even gain serving this wretched Empress?’
Alien heat radiated through her as the blue glows spreading across the floor wrapped themselves around her boots.
’After all, I will get my freedom.’ Her heavy chest rose and fell as she closed her eyes with a sharp exhale.
The moment she cracked her eyes open, her fingers slipped off the hilt of the silver sword, causing it to tumble on the cracked ground with a Shunk! Shunk! Kring!
Levi pulled himself off the council table and relaxed his shoulders. ’Now, that’s a loyal mage to have.’
He blinked and nodded once at Agatha before turning his gaze to the trembling high-tier mages.
Faint bone-crackling sounds lanced through the knees of the mages as their ankles buckled. They hesitated for a moment before the sheer force of the blue glow sent them down. A loud clicking sound erupted like drums as their knees hit the ground in unison.
Levi’s head snapped back for a second when he saw the last mage blink at him. ’These people are not serious...’
The hems of his cloak swiped through the hitched air as he moved forward with his arms spread sideways. "You asked for a true king... yet you weren’t ready for one. Are you even serious?"
