Chapter 123: Peaceful Jade
Jade wanted to hug Ray, tell him how much she missed him, and sit by his side while they went on with their stupid points at times. But their lives were not like that.
At first after hearing that Ray was still alive, her stress didn’t let her leave her room even, but as the time went on, she decided to fully indulge in her powers.
In the past two years, her days mostly passed with sleeping and the rest training her magic. After a lot of thought, she had decided the best way to find meaning in her life was to sleep. Her other option was to join the goddess squad; acting as an explorer could have been fun too.
All of that had to stay for later as she followed the aura of a level 9 inside the prison; instead of a prison, it looked more like a huge mansion with someone singing a song that was played in every place.
Her intention was clear; she didn’t want to fight the Kraken. A negotiation could work much better.
Faced with a huge wooden door, her target was behind the door; with a kick to the door, she burst inside.
The room was designed with wood; on the other side of the room, two stairs led to upper levels, and in front of the stairs, an old man sat in a wheelchair; his face was covered with wrinkles and had no hair and no eyes at all. She seemed like the ones that Ray was fighting before, and next to him a bubble of water in the air held Marian captive.
"I assume you are the kraken of this era." Jade said with a loud voice while walking closer to the old man.
"And I assume you should be the chosen one of heaven." The old man’s voice was so feminine that for a second Jade doubted her ears.
"Let’s get to the point." Jade opened her arms, letting the aura of her level 9 magic leak out. "We can fight; none of us will come unscratched. This place will be destroyed, and I will save her anyway. Or you just give her to me and I will get the hell out."
The old man thought for a few seconds. "What about your friend outside?"
"After he sees that I’m out with her, he will leave simply."
"Deal." The bubble of water moved toward Jade as the water left the bubble, with Marian’s body falling on the ground.
Jade knew from her memories of her past life what a monster the small figure in front of her was; as her eyes opened slowly, her magic started to change.
"Witch..." Marian smiled; to control the prison kraken would have kept them in a bubble that would have fed them nightmares. She had lost the count of how many times she had died in the dreams.
For a long time she refused to activate her level 9; immortals were creatures that disgusted her more than anything, but at that moment, after two years of being tortured, she finally accepted her system’s offer.
Most prisoners’ minds were already broken to a point with no return, but Marian had endured all this time with only one goal: to kill the person who made her go through this.
"Let’s get out first; you can do that from outside of here." Jade’s voice rang in her head; with no reply, she tried to stand up, but her body had been weakened for too long.
In the middle of falling on the ground, Jade, with her waist, making a white orb of magic around them, started to travel through the mansion toward the exit.
"Is that Ray outside?" Marian asked with her eyes wide, "Two domains were colliding in the distance; one belonged to Alexanderia, yet the superior of the two obviously was the one that had the same frequency as Ray."
Jade sent the most important information that happened in the past two years to her. "They just left you here to rot?"
"Don’t act like we are friends." Marian snapped back as she gathered her magic.
Jade raised an eyebrow; she was still cocky as ever. "Doing it right is suicide, and I’m not going to waste my time anymore to save your ass; come back at a later time."
She wanted to yell and tell her to fuck off, but deep down she knew the logical way. Letting go of her purse, she said with a whisper, "Thank you."
Her thoughts started to analyze the data she had received; to her surprise, the military didn’t come to get information out of her. They had certainly had their hands on the artifact. Jade’s sources had told her that not even a single immortal had come to earth in the past two years.
"Sooner or later a war would start..." Marian sighed inwardly; in a fight with immortals, all life on earth would vanish in an instant.
He asked the woman helping her to stand on her feet, "What is Ray’s plan?"
Jade shrugged, "There are a few details that you don’t know, like killing a bunch of corrupt generals, turning into immortals, and leaving planet Earth for good."
Leaving the prison, the orb traveled with the speed of light upwards. Some submarines were around the waters, but none dared to attack them.
In minutes they came out of the ocean; with white clouds swallowing them, both teleported to a place that was unknown.
"Where the hell is this?"
"I guess it’s his vault..." Jade’s eyes went wide; in a large room, both of them stared at the lines of gold coin and diamonds that filled the room to the ceiling. Billions of dollars of material were in that room.
Marian left the room, not caring about the money, while Jade went through the vault, picking some stuff for herself.
Her strength slowly returned; finally, as a level 9, her magic embraced her once more.
"What should I do with Ray now?" It was obvious that Ray had used her to get to his own goals, but the ones that had betrayed her even more were military. She had picked up Alexandria from an orphanage house and raised her until she reached the level to be a general, and Armstrong had asked for her help thousands of times only for her to be thrown out like a piece of garbage.
With an angry frown, she clenched her fists. "Maybe Ray is the way to go."
