Chapter 1613: Chapter 1613: Elegy
Some external force?
Sol Rott raised an eyebrow, a surge of inexplicable joy rising in his heart. Could there still be others like him in this world?
With his mouth slightly open, Sol Rott was about to ask when he suddenly recalled what Yang Yu had said earlier.
This was not the time to use the Luka Language; instead, he should communicate using the language of this era.
Before Sol Rott could speak, Yang Yu continued:
"I wonder if this gentleman knows about the Nine-Life Cat Demon, such a wonderful creature?
They are the Fairies that maintain much of the Magic in this world and record the entire world.
I have ventured to their kingdom to understand the history of the past.
I have a certain task, which only you can accomplish. If you are willing to assist us, I am willing to tell you all that history.
(Luka Language)
Yang Yu took out the pages he had gathered and quickly flipped through them.
Sol Rott’s gaze was instantly drawn to the pages. He was just about to reach out and grab the book from Yang Yu, but with a gentle wave of his hand, the book vanished without a trace.
"If you are willing to help with this task, nod your head. If you are not willing, shake your head. (Luka Language)"
Sol Rott withdrew a step, his eyes turning into sharp Dragon Eyes, staring intently at Yang Yu:
"Give me two judgments.
Let me choose from them, thereby reducing my judgment ability...
These little tricks, don’t use them in front of me.
First, let me hear what you want me to help with!
I won’t casually promise anyone anything."
Sol Rott spoke not in Luka Language but in the language of this era.
Yang Yu squinted his eyes without any surprise and said:
"It seems that this gentleman hasn’t been idle in these months but has tried to understand this world.
It’s just that the situation here is complicated, and speaking in this world’s language is somewhat troublesome.
Moreover, it may take time, so I will briefly state my needs!
(Luka Language)
Upon hearing Sol Rott speak in the modern language, Yang Yu did not immediately switch to the modern language but confidently continued to communicate in Luka Language.
"I hope you will temporarily become our partner and help us defeat the ’Evil Dragon.’ (Luka Language)"
"’Evil Dragon’?"
Yang Yu sighed: "Approximately ten thousand years have passed since your era.
You were born on the eve of the complete demise of the Luka Civilization.
The soldiers who underwent transformation with you have long transformed into giant dragons.
After making a pact with someone, they watched over and protected the Human legacy, becoming the recorders and observers of this world.
They generally do not participate in the world’s conflicts.
Some dragons have, over the long years, violated their pact, and therefore became known as the ’Evil Dragons’ by others.
But the Evil Dragon I speak of today is not those Evil Dragons.
It was not Human at its core but a goblin. It underwent a transformation by others and became a transformed giant dragon like you!
(Luka Language)"
"Goblin?"
Sol Rott was all too familiar with this term. As wars raged on, some mass-produced Demons were deployed on the battlefield. They were more agile and cheaper than machines and could utilize various Skills to a certain degree, making them the perfect cannon fodder.
Before bombing the enemy’s main general, Sol Rott would often have to kill hundreds of such Magic Creatures.
Unexpectedly, such goblins actually became giant dragons.
"If it were just an ordinary Evil Dragon, the world should have a way to deal with it.
But that goblin-turned-dragon can reproduce asexually and spawned several extraordinarily powerful offspring within a few years.
If allowed to grow unchecked, one day they might threaten the current dragons’ status and ultimately rule the world.
The dragons who currently view themselves as superior have not intervened because the goblin-turned-dragon exploited a loophole in the dragons’ rules.
If you ask why the goblin became such, the deeper reason for my coming here, it is quite a lengthy issue.
Placeholder for what you might want to ask, I have written it all here. (Luka Language)"
Yang Yu took out a thick stack of notes and handed it to Sol Rott.
Sol Rott hesitated slightly but eventually accepted Yang Yu’s notes, allowing them to float in the air displaying before him.
To Sol Rott’s surprise, Yang Yu’s initial words were also recorded on the first page of the notes.
The last page of the notes read:
"I believe that as one of the Luka Civilization’s last descendants, you will make the right decision.
Even though I don’t know what kind of life you have led, you should strive in that direction.
Reading that history profoundly moved me.
It also made me somewhat understand why that young man said what he did on his deathbed.
Dragons, after all, are not symbols of civilization."
Yang Yu smiled without speaking, yet Sol Rott seemed to truly hear Yang Yu’s voice, as Yang Yu had already resolved the questions arising from his explanation.
"Who are you really! (Luka Language)"
"Just an ordinary mortal.
No matter how strong I am, I remain nothing more than an ordinary Human.
I am no different from anyone else, merely a naturally born Human.
We are born differently; this is the gift brought to us by Luka.
However, we are born no different, surviving only as ordinary Humans in this world.
Understanding this point helps me comprehend why they despised the goddess back then, believing she was a target that must be defeated.
I have said everything I can say and now await your choice.
(Luka Language)
Sol Rott gazed at Yang Yu, almost seeing in him the comrades with whom he had shared countless years, the officers and leaders who bonded with them, numerous figures overlapping with Yang Yu’s form, transforming him back into myriad, spanning the river of history.
They have not been remembered for a long time, yet they still exist in every corner of the historical river.
Sol Rott’s eyes filled with tears, recalling what he was truly fighting for and why his comrades back then bravely went to their deaths.
Facing such a person, there was no longer any need for hesitation.
Sol Rott decided to trust this young man before him, to believe in everything that existed in the past:
"I am willing to accept your invitation to become part of the force to defeat the Evil Dragon!"
Yang Yu said nothing, once again summoning the notes documenting the Luka Civilization and handing them to Sol Rott for safekeeping.
Sol Rott cradled the diary, silently weeping.
Mourning the fallen Luka Civilization, hoping that one day the fragmented Humans would cast aside their arrogance and unite once more.
