Chapter 194: Chapter 195: Mentioning My Name Should Help
Ever since that day, the relationship between Thea Lynch and Ian Preston seemed to have gotten closer.
Whenever they had time, the two would have dinner together after work.
The atmosphere between them felt different, and even when they occasionally ate at home together, the elders thought something was amiss.
But no one dared to ask.
Everyone tacitly pretended they didn’t know anything, acting as if they hadn’t noticed a thing.
Until the end of the year, Thea Lynch gradually got busier, working overtime almost every day, while Ian Preston was on business trips, almost not being in Coronet for the entire January.
Due to the time difference, their chances to talk on the phone daily were limited.
Just after lunch break ended, Thea Lynch rubbed her eyes, planning to head to the lab.
Diana Dawson knocked on the office door, then peeked her head in from outside: "Foreman Lynch, the vice president notified that there will be a meeting at three in the second conference room."
"Got it."
Thea Lynch changed her clothes and tucked her cell phone into her inner pocket. Just as she left the office, she ran into Foreman Chandler and several others returning from outside.
Thea Lynch walked with them towards the lab, "Did you get the notice for the three o’clock meeting?"
Foreman Chandler nodded, took the clothes handed by his assistant and put them on, saying as he walked, "I heard old Warren mention it while playing cards just now."
Upon hearing this, Thea Lynch raised an eyebrow, "You’re getting along well with Foreman Warren now, huh?"
Foreman Leigh chimed in from the side, "Isn’t that right. Before, they were the ones who argued the most, and now they’re glued together every day."
"Not at all." Foreman Chandler denied, "I’m just exchanging card tactics with him. I still find him unpleasant."
Thea Lynch laughed, "This meeting is probably related to the second department’s project. Didn’t Foreman Warren tell you?"
"Well, he kind of mentioned it."
As they entered the lab, they continued talking while busy, "Their second department intends to study some robot, I guess they need our first department’s help."
"Last time old Gao supported their project quite a lot, I almost suspected he was the father of their second department."
"Last time old Gao probed us, and in the end we did not agree to this. But didn’t you sell them the previous batch of robots? I think this time the project is officially starting."
Foreman Chandler said, looking at Thea Lynch across from him, "Foreman Lynch, what do you think?"
Thea Lynch had no particular opinion, "Still the same words, the first department can’t spare the effort to collaborate with them at the moment."
Foreman Chandler nodded, "Let them mess around on their own."
Three o’clock, second conference room.
Thea Lynch yawned, feeling a bit sleepy.
She hadn’t taken a nap these days, and staying in the air-conditioned room for too long made her feel drowsy. Diana Dawson brought her a thermos cup.
"Here’s the freshly brewed tea. The coffee you usually have is out today."
Thea Lynch nodded, "Thanks, you go ahead and get busy."
She unscrewed the thermos cup, blowing on it for quite a while before taking a small sip.
Foreman Chandler enviously commented aside, "Young girls really are thoughtful. Look at my assistant, look at what he made for me."
Thea Lynch laughed and put down the thermos cup, "If you say so, why not have HR switch you to a female assistant, and you can send Leo over to me."
"No way."
Leo was Foreman Chandler’s treasured assistant; he wouldn’t give him up.
"But I must say, I’ve noticed Leo frequently running over to you lately. More precisely, it’s Diana he’s visiting. This guy..."
Thea Lynch raised an eyebrow, "Really? I hadn’t noticed."
"...They’re flirting right under your nose, and you don’t even see it?"
"I really haven’t noticed. Is there a company rule against office romance?"
"It doesn’t seem to be explicitly stated. But indeed, there’s no such situation in the research department."
As they chatted about the assistant issue, the vice president and Foreman Warren walked in together from outside.
Foreman Warren looked around, "Hey, you guys arrived quite early."
Most people had already gathered.
Foreman Chandler complained, "It’s a three o’clock meeting, and you’re just arriving at two minutes past three."
The vice president worried they might start arguing, waved his hand to signal everyone to take their seats, "Alright, alright, quiet down."
Foreman Chandler straightened up, finally closing his mouth.
"Our Stratus gained quite a lot from the exhibit two months ago. I’d like to thank Foreman Lynch again for her contributions."
Not far away, Thea Lynch calmly blew on her tea, unfazed as she sipped it.
Seeing this, the vice president coughed lightly and continued, "The standout feature of this exhibit was FK’s robot."
"Since returning from the exhibit, Foreman Warren has been researching this robot, summarizing its strengths and weaknesses, planning to design and develop a dynamic bionic robot."
The vice president raised his chin, signaling Foreman Warren to introduce it himself.
Foreman Warren was well-prepared, showing everyone the demonstration video.
Foreman Chandler watched and chuckled, especially when he saw the timeline Foreman Warren presented; he couldn’t help but quietly comment to Thea Lynch:
"He’s really dreaming big."
"At first glance, it looks quite impressive, but relying on current technology to actually achieve it...well, I bet it’ll take ages."
"This is what they call, ’The dream is robust, but reality is frail.’
"I remember the foreign Wexhaven spent over forty years on development without success, a whole generation’s effort is there, and old Warren still dares to say all this."
Thea Lynch smirked without speaking, tactically sipping her tea.
Foreman Chandler thought his voice was low, but Foreman Warren heard him clearly.
The two quickly started arguing again, standing on opposite sides, entering debate mode.
Thea Lynch originally didn’t want to chime in, but as they argued more fiercely, she had no choice but to tap the table to start, "The demonstration video is nicely done."
Once her voice came out, they immediately quieted down, waiting to hear her opinion.
Thea Lynch twisted the top of the thermos cup, "Compared to last time, I support your ideas and thoughts more this time. Technology changing life, okay."
Foreman Warren’s eyes lit up.
"But..."
Upon hearing these words, Foreman Warren’s mouth twitched, "But what?"
"But our department won’t participate, our focus isn’t here. This is a major project, and results can’t be seen in the short term."
Thea Lynch understood the purpose of inviting her and Foreman Chandler to the meeting today.
So before they could speak, she directly refused.
Foreman Chandler laughed and patted Foreman Warren’s shoulder, "You guys go ahead, hopefully we’ll see your bionic robot in our lifetime."
Foreman Warren: "..."
Foreman Warren shook off his hand, looked towards Thea Lynch, "At the exhibit last time, didn’t you also really like FK’s robot? I feel you have ideas in this area too."
"Indeed." Thea Lynch acknowledged, "But at the moment, I don’t have the energy."
"However, if you need investment, I can certainly help."
"..."
"You want to invest?" Foreman Warren asked uncertainly.
"Not me." Thea Lynch took out Ian Preston’s business card from her pocket and placed it on the table, "You’d better reach out to him. Mentioning my name might help."
