Logan wasn’t sure himself why he had decided to turn back to save him.
Yet, remembering the simplicity and sincerity of this somewhat strange member of the Demon Race, he made up his mind to save his life, perhaps to appease a ripple in his own heart. Not saving the foolish lad would leave him an inexplicable unease.
“Young Master Logan…”
Although she had been scolded, Lexi still looked at them with a touch of moved gratitude. Despite the scolding, she understood that they truly cared about her.
Logan didn’t know what to say to this foolish lad anymore; now wasn’t the time for lessons, what was important was dealing with these demons.
Devon Taylor saw the two of them and a cruel light flashed in his eyes.
...
“Well, well, I didn’t expect you to show up. It seems you are the culprits who killed my kin. Since you’ve fallen into the trap trying to save such a dimwit, you’re simply courting death!”
After speaking, he signaled the other demons, and they charged forward in a mass attack.
Logan managed his Array while retorting with defiance.
“Whether it’s seeking death or not, who will fall is yet to be determined!”
Maya Leaf also released her Beast Pet to do battle with the demons.
The moment they touched the Array, all demons felt disbelief.
“Strange, what kind of Array is this? It can completely trap a person inside!”
“A maze? What is happening in front of me? How did I walk into a maze?”
Thus, the few demons who hadn’t advanced saw the ones caught in the Array behave as if they were drugged.
They spun around on the spot as if they encountered something terrifying and then unleashed their demonic power in every direction. However, they couldn’t land a single blow on Logan and couldn’t harm the man and the woman at all.
Devon Taylor was so angry his teeth itched.
His power was clearly above everyone else’s. After a surge of demonic power, many demons came back to their senses.
“Idiots, what are you all doing? Getting trapped by an Array, he’s just an Array Master!”
In everyone’s mind, an Array as a supportive role was never expected to be wielded so diversely by this man.
Because of their lack of experience and understanding, they fell into a deep pitfall.
Logan let out a cold laugh.
“You think it’s over just like that? No, this is just the beginning. I will show you the nightmare that an Array can be!”
He then used the move he had used previously, amplifying it with a Spirit Gathering Array.

A vast amount of Spiritual Energy gathered, a substantial and imposing force. The demons stood rooted to the spot, one by one, seemingly unable to react.
But Logan wasn’t going to give them the chance to react. He launched an attack directly at them.
“Aah!”
In just a moment, there was nothing but cries of agony. The demons had no energy to resist and fell in droves to the onslaught of the Spirit Gathering Array.
After Logan created an opening in the encirclement, the two of them combined their efforts to get Lexi out.
They ran with Lexi in tow. Logan knew the reason they could temporarily defeat the demons was entirely due to the Spirit Gathering Array, but Spiritual Energy was not inexhaustible.
To venture deeper into the enemy’s stronghold would be foolish. As long as they rescued Lexi and accomplished their goal, there was no need to continue the skirmish there.
The two of them ran until they found a concealed cave and hid inside.
“Brother Logan, it’s too dangerous outside, let’s hide here for now.”
Logan nodded, then stood up to survey the surroundings, not objecting to the idea.
“This place is good, concealed, not easily discovered.”
Both of them breathed a sigh of relief and helped Lexi to sit down together.
“Lexi, how are you feeling? Are you okay?”
Lexi nodded weakly, but his pale lips and ashen face clearly indicated he was not fine.
Logan’s face grew stern.
“Don’t force yourself, I have Elixirs here. Take them to recuperate and stop the bleeding first.”
Lexi did not refuse, only looking at them with eyes full of gratitude.
“Thank you, thank you all, Young Master Logan, Miss Leaf, it’s all thanks to you, otherwise my life would have been lost at the headquarters today. I never expected you to come to my rescue; I’ve dragged you down.”
“Don’t talk too much, rest up now, we still need to hit the road in a moment.”
Lexi Carr then stopped the conversation and swallowed an Elixir to begin recuperating.
The three of them had just rested for a while when their Beast Pet sensed the approach of the Demon Race.
“These cursed beasts are coming so fast!”
Logan spat out in disgust and promptly got up.
“We can’t stay here any longer, let’s leave quickly!”
The other two had no objections. Logan and Maya Leaf together helped Lexi Carr up, and once again, they had to flee for their lives. They didn’t know for how long they had been escaping until they found a concealed location.
“I’ve set up a Barrier outside, the Demon Race shouldn’t be able to reach us here.”
“Lexi, your wound has opened up again. Wait a moment, and I will help you stop the bleeding.”
He had originally planned to use an Elixir, but with none left, he had to resort to Herbal Medicine. In fact, he was capable of making Elixirs, it was just unfortunate that there was no Furnace Cauldron available here.
“Without the Furnace Cauldron here, we can’t make Elixirs. You’ll have to endure for now. I’ll first use Herbal Medicine to stop the bleeding. It might hurt a bit, so bear with it.”
Lexi Carr, weak but cooperative, nodded his head. However, when the Herbal Medicine was applied, he still grimaced in pain.
“Ah…”
Logan sighed deeply, unable to hide his frustration.
“Why did you insist on going back to headquarters and push yourself to this state?”
Lexi Carr didn’t speak; he didn’t even have the energy to talk right now.
Even though Herbal Medicine had been applied, its efficacy was limited, and Lexi Carr still showed no signs of improvement.
Maya Leaf knew nothing about making Elixirs and couldn’t be of any help.
After a while, feeling his life force ebbing away, Lexi Carr bitterly smiled and weakly tried to console the other two.
“Young Master Logan, Miss Leaf, thank you for your kindness, but you needn’t waste your energy on me anymore. I can feel that my body is giving out; it seems my time is up. Meeting you two friends has made me very happy. To die is to die without regrets.”
“Please just go, don’t bother with me anymore, and don’t waste the Herbal Medicine. Preserving your own strength is the most important.”
Maya Leaf’s eyes reddened with emotion, as if tears were about to spill out, but she forced them back. Meanwhile, Logan, his mind in turmoil, glared fiercely at him.
“What nonsense are you spouting? You’re not going to die! I say you won’t die, and you won’t!”
“Rest assured. As long as there’s a breath left in you, I will be determined to save you!”
His gaze seemed to pierce the distance, as though he had already made a decision; he planned to search for rarer Herbal Medicine.
If he couldn’t make Elixirs, he would have to compensate with the nature of the Herbal Medicine.
“I’m going to look for rarer Herbal Medicine, Miss Leaf. Please take care of things here for the time being.”
Maya Leaf seemed to want to say something but ultimately didn’t speak, simply saying,
“Safe travels. Whether you find it or not, your safety is most important.”
Logan nodded and without saying more, quickly departed.
Maya Leaf watched his retreating figure for a long time without turning her gaze away.
In the search, he accidentally entered an Illusionary Realm, where images flickered before his eyes.
“What do you desire? Wealth, women, power, money?”
Voices floated around him, with the illusions taking solid forms before his eyes, the scenes shifting rapidly, exposing the deepest vices of human nature.
But Logan knew there was no such thing as a free lunch, and manna didn’t fall from heaven.
Even if it did, he would carefully discern whether these so-called benefits came with any traps. Otherwise, one misstep could annihilate him in this devouring Cultivation world.
One temptation after another passed him by, yet he remained unmoved, steadfast in his moral integrity.
The Illusionary Realm seemed unable to believe such a man existed, and the seducing voice sounded again in his ears.
“I get it now; you must want power, to become the most powerful in the world.”
The Illusionary Realm seemed to have pierced Logan’s true desires, laughing heartily. To Logan’s ears, the laughter was hardly pleasant, and he scowled in response without replying.
