[TESTAR’s Death Game Survival.]

The much-anticipated live broadcast.

[The individuals, products, and organizations appearing in this program are fictional and bear no relation to real entities.]

The show opened with that ominous disclaimer, setting the mood.

And then—

[Bae Sejin: “Where on earth... is this our dorm?”]

The members awakened one by one in the exact same venue as their previous dorm. Although eerily desolate, the set’s painstaking recreation of a top-tier idol dorm was itself a selling point.

–Oh

–Crazy, is that really the TESTAR dorm?

–So cool

–A horror variety show giving a dorm tour—seriously?

Since TESTAR had already moved out, there was no invasion-of-privacy risk, so fans’ curiosity skyrocketed. And this setup helped viewers immerse themselves as the members.

[Kim Rae bin: “...the lights won’t turn on.”]

–Ah, already scary

–Waking up somewhere else would freak me out

–Their reactions look genuinely terrified?

This was the plan of head writer Ryu Seo-rin.

‘A show like this needs to open by letting viewers fully inhabit the characters’ perspectives.’

True to her emphasis on narrative immersion, the editing did just that—clearly showing three members’ situations.

‘Here’s your cue to immerse yourselves.’

First, the lawyer Bae Sejin.

[Bae Sejin: “Your profession is Lawyer.”]

[Bae Sejin: “And your profession mission... ‘Convince at least three people to believe your profession and ability.’”]

Here Bae Sejin played the lead: viewers knew as much about the roster of professions as he did.

[Bae Sejin: “I’m a lawyer... and I know every possible profession.”]

[Seon Ah hyun: “!!”]

Viewers naturally decided whether to trust or doubt him.

–Why did Kim Rae bin say he’s a journalist? There’s no journalist on the list

–Feels off;

–How many people has he told? Mundae, then Ah hyun, now Geon woo?

└Ah hyun seems suspicious...

In that way, viewer suspicion was steered. Then, just as things might drag, the segment shifted to the second member’s perspective—the doctor Cha Yoo jin.

[Bae Sejin: “Guys!”]

Right after a dramatic meetup with the other dorm team at the entrance, the show recapped how four members there had proceeded, via Cha Yoo jin.

–Opening the entrance and finding the same dorm is terrifying... then boom this dorm’s bombed? Why is this so crazy

–They completely swapped out the dorm

–Yoo jin as a doctor—does that mean he’ll pulverize enemies so no patients get hurt?

└Haha, quarterback Yoo jin’s epic door-smashing

–How did /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ they even split teams like this? Group BaeMundae as one team and these four as another—that’s totally unbalanced, unreal exploration power lol

And Cha Yoo jin’s role had one more purpose.

–Curious how Yoo jin reacts when he meets a fake doctor lol

Yes. The producers gave viewers the last member’s true profession from the start.

[Park Mundae (Mortician) ← posing as Doctor]

...Even though his real profession was Mortician, Park Mundae was pretending to be a doctor. By revealing the real and the fake side by side, that relationship dynamics became clear. Of course, it was edited for humor.

–LOL

–That trolling is insane

Park Mundae cracked doctor jokes left and right, while the genuine doctor Cha Yoo jin just happened not to call him out—sending viewers into fits of laughter. It felt like a breath-of-fresh-air comic relief.

[Park Mundae: “I am a doctor, though.”]

[Ryu Geon woo: “Oh, I see.”]

[Cha Yoo jin ← “Didn’t hear that!”]

A floating subtitle “← Didn’t hear that!” drifting past Cha Yoo jin as he walked by the two was a perfect streak of levity in a tense show.

–LOL

–Wonder when Yoo jin will catch him lol

–Ha, he’s dodging it lol

‘Mundae is so cute!’

Meanwhile, a grad student who missed episodes 1–2 and was catching up on YouTube watched along. She hadn’t seen the live broadcast because she was stuck in the lab, striving to become a “pro-doc” rather than a “pro-solver”...

‘Next year I’ll pass my thesis defense and finally get a job!’

Her dream: use that salary to follow TESTAR on world tour and travel the globe. But for now, just spending her sweet weekend watching TESTAR content lifted her spirits. She flopped on her bed.

‘This genre...? I’ve never watched a variety show like this before.’

Thankfully the producers displayed the professions and exchanges in graphics, making it easier to follow. ...Though the two crimson sheep skulls were a little spooky.

[※When you use the entrance door device to “exchange cards”※]

[※Each person’s profession stays the same; only the sacrificial marker transfers※]

‘Ah, so the person the viewers vote out isn’t eliminated immediately—they pass the marker by card exchange.’

She nodded, understanding. The marker would bounce around with each exchange; the final holder would die.

Her burning question:

‘So what profession did the viewers choose?’

Hardly had she wondered when a cut appeared.

[Just a moment]

“...??”

[A special preview just for viewers!]

[The profession you voted for as the sacrifice is...]

“Whoa?”

Huge letters slammed onto the screen:

[Detective – 20,347 votes]

“Gah!”

The grad student was stunned.

‘Are they allowed to reveal that?’

More importantly—who was the detective?

“Well, Mundae’s Mortician, Yoo jin’s Doctor, Sejin’s Lawyer—so it must be one of the other four!”

[Detective Candidates: Ryu Geon woo, Seon Ah hyun, Lee Sejin, Kim Rae bin]

[Which one is the detective?]

At that moment, the producers even showed a four-split face shot of the candidates.

“...?”

The screen switched again.

[※Answer Announcement※]

“Oh?”

[Ryu Geon woo: “I see. Ah hyun is the detective.”]

[Ryu Geon woo: “And viewers voted for the detective.”]

“...??”

It was the mid-check moment: Geon woo reading his tablet.

[Detective: Seon Ah hyun / ※1st Place Vote※]

Then Geon woo’s profile file appeared in cross-cut.

“...!”

[Scholar]

[“The Scholar can learn which profession was chosen as the first sacrifice and who holds that profession.”]

[“However, the Scholar cannot reveal their own profession or ability.”]

That’s right—Scholar Ryu Geon woo. He’d known at mid-check that Ah hyun was the detective and that she’d been chosen as the first sacrifice.

[Ryu Geon woo: “Then Mundae, who exchanged cards with Ah hyun, is now the sacrifice.”]

And that the marker then passed to Park Mundae! Geon woo knew everything. Viewers went wild!

–No way

–Geon woo knows everything but can’t say a word LOL

–Now he absolutely has to save them in the final trial—will anyone trust him?

└He can’t explain how he knows, though lol

–Anyway, this is deduction—I deduce it must be me, I insist I’m right

└LOL

Viewers furiously munched popcorn at Geon woo’s struggle and hard carry. Then after mid-check:

[Park Mundae: “Yoo jin, did you find another gold coin?”]

[Cha Yoo jin: “Yep!”]

[Park Mundae: “Hmm... not much time left. Does it vanish if you don’t spend it?”]

[Cha Yoo jin: “Ugh...”]

Mundae’s sly comedy played out: he casually mined Yoo jin for a coin, predicting Yoo jin would say he’d lose it if unused, then coaxed an exchange offer from him.

[Cha Yoo jin: “So, hyung, exchange with me?”]

[Park Mundae: “Hmm... you’re definitely not the sacrifice?”]

[Cha Yoo jin: “Yes!”]

[Park Mundae: “...Alright. I trust you.”]

[LOL]

The fake doctor scammed the real doctor—passing him the sacrificial marker successfully!

–LOL

–Goodbye, Yoo jin!

–The mortician even scammed the genuine doctor

–Mundae actually used Yoo jin’s coin in the card exchange trick lol

But then:

[Exchange Closed]

[Current Profession Holding the Sacrificial Marker]

[※Scholar※]

–???

–What the heck

–Why is Geon woo the sacrifice?

It was revealed that the Scholar Ryu Geon woo was the final sacrifice, and the viewer comment section erupted anew.

–What the—

–Wait, who exchanged with Geon woo last?

└Bae Sejin

└...? But Bae Sejin is the Lawyer, what gives

└Yeah, he should’ve only exchanged with Geon woo...

Amid that chaos, the members entered full deduction mode, accusing each other to find the “Black Sheep” who passed the marker last. Viewers were deducing too.

–So is it Bae Sejin, since Geon woo exchanged with him last?

└No certainty. Maybe they just didn’t show some exchanges—TESTAR variety shows love twists

–But Mundae passed to Yoo jin, so why did it end up on Geon woo?

It was then—

[Bae Sejin: “Hold on! I have something to say first.”]

Just as the members encircled the altar to begin deducing, Bae Sejin revealed his profession and launched into his introduction.

–Yeah, lay it all out now

–Nice job on the mission lol

–Sejin’s lawyer mission really helps the deduction, good boy

Viewers, having seen this before, eased their tension to refocus. Then Lee Sejin crashed in:

[Lee Sejin: “That’s strange. I’m a lawyer, you know?”]

–Huh??

–Now I’m totally confused, TESTAR folks

–They’re scamming not only Mundae but Lee Sejin too

–Sejin lol

When viewers thought Lee Sejin was trolling, the serious face of Bae Sejin suddenly got a close-up. An interview cut followed:

[Bae Sejin: “When Lee Sejin said he was the lawyer...”]

[Bae Sejin: “That’s when I realized.”]

–?

–What did you realize?

–Sejin?

[Bae Sejin: “I might be mistaken about my own profession.”]

–??

[Bae Sejin: “I knew a bit about each profession’s traits. But...”]

A flashback showed Bae Sejin scrutinizing his profile document. The job-info section was highlighted:

–Clown: I mimic another’s profession

[Bae Sejin: “That’s me.”]

“...!”

[Bae Sejin: “Hearing Lee Sejin, I thought it would be overkill if my ability were Lawyer.”]

[Bae Sejin: “I think... I’ve been misremembering and really am the Clown.”]

[Bae Sejin: “Since it’s confusion, I automatically mimic the Lawyer.”]

On-site, clips showed Bae Sejin disputing Lee Sejin’s claim, insisting he was the Lawyer—only to discover the truth in narration overlay:

[Bae Sejin: “No proof, but yes. I do seem to be the Clown.”]

–O... M... G

–Argh!

Viewers were stunned.

–That’s the acting chops of a genius child actor lol

–Insane

–Is this guy nuts?? Bae Sejin must be losing it

Yet even amid chaos, Bae Sejin kept insisting on camera that he was an innocent Lawyer.

–So Lee Sejin is the real Lawyer?

└Viewers believe Bae Sejin’s conviction even as they watch him meltdown lol

└He’s gone mad

–Everyone knows but Bae Sejin looks so wronged

His performance carried the show forward with fresh momentum.

‘Who’s going to pull the rug out next?!’

Then at the climax of deduction, the criminal’s trick was finally revealed—it was Park Mundae all along.

[Park Mundae: “Yes. I lost. Rae bin, you were amazing.”]

The Mortician, who’d seemed all comedic trolling!

–This is insane...

–So that was the plan all along

–They lulled us into a false sense of security, then pulled off that atrocity

Exhausted viewers could no longer laugh.

–So Mundae’s exchange with Yoo jin was fake, too, to further scramble the marker route

└LOL, brilliant

–Then did Geon woo exchange with Bae Sejin to confuse things, and only later receive the marker from Mundae?

└Why would he make himself the sacrifice lol maybe he was just fooled

└How do you fake something so perfectly that you even do the two-card entrance trick? He must have been in on it...

Obsessed fans hammered out pages of theories.

Then:

[Narration: “I think it worked.”]

–??

–He got caught—what is he talking about?

An interview with Park Mundae played, then the scene froze. A film-rewind effect cut in, and the screen changed.

[◀◀◀]

[Start of filming, Park Mundae’s room]

In the rewinded footage, Park Mundae read his profile. He cocked his head.

[Park Mundae: “The criminal?”]

Then the viewers saw the Mortician back-story on his profile—previously hidden.

[“The Mortician is the criminal in this case.”]

–The criminal?

–Isn’t the criminal the Black Sheep who passed the marker last?

└That’s determined during the game—why state at the start that the Mortician is the criminal?

Viewers spiraled, and the cut shifted again to mid-check:

[“Your card is the Sacrificial Marker.”]

[“Current Lamb: Park Mundae”]

When Mundae realized Ah hyun had passed the marker to him, his tablet displayed another warning meant only for whoever held the marker at mid-check:

[Warning]

[“Anyone who makes an innocent person the sacrifice becomes the Black Sheep.”]

[“The Black Sheep may have to pay the price.”]

The interview voiceover overlapped:

[Park Mundae: “That’s when I realized.”]

[Park Mundae: “If you pass the marker like a hot potato, in the end the one who passed it—not the one who received it—can suffer.”]

[Park Mundae: “And one more thing.”]

As Mundae narrated, the camera showed him handing off the tablet.

The screen Mundae laughed at small.

[Park Mundae: “Ah—so the criminal and the Black Sheep are two different people.”]

Exactly. The person the security guard must shoot and the Black Sheep were originally separate.

[Park Mundae: “But if those two roles coincide in one person... only that person needs to die.”]

[Park Mundae: “Makes the deduction easy.”]

–Whoa

And so Park Mundae’s strategy began.

[Park Mundae: “I will become the Black Sheep.”]

A狂 utilitarian logic.

The grad student covered her mouth in shock.
