Chapter 22: Flame Conjuration Sorcery Spell

"Oh? There are so many new faces attending this class. Haha, does the school tournament make your body shiver? I guess that’s to be expected."

’Wha—finally a guy who didn’t mention the long name and said it is a tournament!’

The burly man who was almost the height of a normal giant chuckled. His chalky white beard covered half of his face, leaving someone in thought about what his lip reactions were.

His tone and demeanor were strict yet warm. The aura he carries can suppress even the prideful ego that attended his class, which became full.

"Well, for starters, I’ll introduce myself. My name is Meister Bold, a Circle Three Sorcerer. Well, let’s not waste any more time. The tournament is coming up soon, and you guys must be eager to learn as much knowledge as you can get."

Using the direction of his statement, the others agreed wholeheartedly.

They immediately can’t afford to lag now that the tournament is coming right up. They had to attend classes that would strengthen themselves, and Cillian, who shared the same agenda, was doing the same thing.

"Okay, everyone should know Elemental Acquisition, right? Well, let me briefly explain to anyone who doesn’t know it. The acquisition involves someone’s elemental aptitude. Just because you’re better at this particular spell in this element doesn’t mean that it is your elemental aptitude. You must know what type of element you are adept at and focus on training in it."

That brief explanation is done, and it clearly implies that if controlling and conjuring fire was hard for somebody attending the class, they can rightfully leave, and no one will bat an eye.

On the contrary, they can learn the spell that will be discussed, but because their elemental acquisition isn’t suited for this, Meister understood that they’ll only be wasting their time.

Instead of focusing on something they weren’t adept at with little to no time left, they should reconsider their choices and use the ample time to do something productive that could benefit them.

Still, no one left. Either they were showing how stupid they were or already knew what they came for, no one would know for sure.

"Well, that doesn’t mean anyone can’t learn the spell they weren’t adept at. As long as it is moderate and doesn’t go beyond the threshold of abusing yourself, you’ll be fine... sort of?"

Meister chuckled.

"Anyways, let’s get right to the topic."

Clapping his hand, the items lying on his front desk soon flew up in the air, hovering just right on his chest. Meister looked at his students as he began his discussion.

"Right the moment the Age of Sorcery commences, there are now two ways of conjuring a spell. The first one is to concoct the right ingredients for the specific spells. Remember, this is not simply the use of certain reactions like how combustion works. There are certain mystery works in place and certain mystical ingredients."

Meister hovered a piece of black, smooth-edged, spear-shaped leaf in the air while a red powder emanated a sour aura. Then, the jar that stored a hazy grey gas inside opened its lid. Once it did, the leaf and the powder mixed inside the jar, and it began to stir.

The stirring took at least a minute until the hazy gray gas turned red, appearing to have changed its property, forming a new result. Once the result showed, Meister hovered it near him, not letting the students even give them a chance to walk, and accidentally touched the jar.

"You might or not know, but this is free knowledge."

Meister gave the students ample time to reassess the jar.

"This is an improvised Fire Bomb. Mixing the Black Spear Leaf, Red Sparkle, and gas properties that contained Mist Aura, one can make a Fire Bomb."

Meister gestured a stance as if he was throwing a ball in a pitch.

"By throwing, flames spewed out just like a spell conjured. Just be very careful, though, it’s very sensitive. One wrong move, you’ll be exploding and burning with it at the same time. Some might rescue you, but I wouldn’t bet my life on that,"

’It’s simply a hand grenade! How... fascinating.’

Cillian thought inwardly as he couldn’t help but marvel at the makeshift bomb in front.

Meister, upon seeing some students, mostly new ones, wearing astonished faces, added.

"Oh right, even though this is free knowledge, that doesn’t mean the ingredients needed for such bombs are easy to gather. Especially the Mist Aura, where only a handful of locations have this ingredient located. Well, fortunately, we’re not going to focus on that. I’m just sharing common knowledge with everyone here."

He paused as he dismissed the bomb inside a sealed container where he was sure that it would be safe. Just to be extra careful, he added another layer of protective container, sealing it completely.

"Moving on, the next method, something that everyone here should learn, is to be able to conjure a spell. In that, you’ll need to be aware of the basic things about Mana."

Meister snapped his fingers. "In this class, you’ll be able to learn three spells. [Fireball], [Red Showers], and [Flare]. I know most of you are aiming for Red Showers, but we’ll first do things one step at a time. I’ll teach you these three."

In this world, Spells are not free and will just gracefully fall into someone’s lap.

It already had a thousand years of history and has been developed, even at this age, to be able to conjure a more potent previous version of the spell. Most high-tier spells are under the possession of the Families and higher influential people.

Each Sorcerer had potential spells in their arsenal, but most of them are considered a hidden card that could be used when a person is in a dire state.

Even so, commoners and students alike who didn’t receive proper knowledge spells when they were children are willing to learn a handful of them, especially the Red Showers that Meister mentioned.

It’s not the most destructive spell of them all, but it can bring a certain amount of damage. It’s a very complicated type of fire spell that the academy is willing to teach.

...But Cillian wasn’t aiming for that.

All the classes he was willing to attend contained basic types of spells on each common element. For the fire spell, he is willing to learn the Fireball.

For the wind is Gale, for earth spell is Stone Ball, and for water is the spell called Water Wall.

One thing they have in common is that they are the most basic spell in an element, with most sorcerers having access to it.

Right after, Meister discussed how the spell worked.

The positioning of his arm and the right signs, the stance of a person channeling the spell, how it casts and directs to an enemy, and how one’s focus affects the result of the spell the person created. Everything was simple yet so difficult.

Thankfully, the recommended spell he was willing to teach was only a tier-one spell. Even a non-circle sorcerer will be able to pull it off.

Then, he goes into practical mode.

Meister opened his palm in all five as he channeled his mana to create a small ball of fire. He could’ve done so by creating a "circle," but he dismissed the idea since most of the students here didn’t have a circle yet.

He was giving the students an insight into how spell works in the previous age. With the right posture and intent focus, the small ball of fire slowly grew in size.

Soon, it became as big as the head of a normal person.

All Meister had done was to conjure it in a span of a few seconds, but everyone here knew it would take them longer to even conjure that same basic spell, even on the same magnitude at that.

’Cliché but okay!’

Cillian felt ecstatic.

As this world had access to mana, which became more potent when Runic Gates came, being a Sorcerer has been everyone’s dream. Being able to cast such spells and increase one’s knowledge of Sorcery is something to brag about.

And now, they can get to learn it for themselves.

Unfortunately, the body he dwells in only knows how to use a bow. It wasn’t even that great, but at least there is something.

In a sense, the knowledge of the previous Cillian regarding Sorcery is at the bottom.

Yet Cillian didn’t feel disheartened.

He felt thrilled to be able to learn them firsthand instead of gaining prior knowledge. He didn’t come to this world and reap the benefits that already lay on his path.

If he were, he might’ve already been the main character.

Feeling this is one step away from becoming what he likes and doing the things he was most happy about, Cillian listened to the practical discussion very intently.

Soon, Meister proceeded to move to the next spell, but he didn’t give a crap about it.

Learning something hard without mastering the basics is not going to be right in the long run, which Cillian understood better.

Now, he was already taking notes on what he had learned about the [Fireball] spell and waited patiently for Meister to discuss something that related to it, such as: what are the things someone had to take note of? How potent is it to the opponent?

Then, he was never disappointed as Meister tackled the topics that filled his mind with questions.

By the time the class ended, Cillian was in a really good mood and entered class after class.
