Chapter 54: Yang Jin’s Gift

Shen Yu blurted out without a second thought, "This hospital has problems."

He expected the old man to explode in anger or trigger some horrifying punishment. Instead, the old security guard nodded in satisfaction.

"The second question," the guard continued. "If reporters came here to investigate, what would you tell them?"

Shen Yu snorted.

"I’d tell them this place abuses its patients. Those electric headbands, the forced confessions, the endless mistreatment... the list is too long."

Once again, he deliberately answered in the most provocative way possible, waiting for the old man to lose his temper.

Instead, the guard smiled even wider.

"Good."

He raised a finger.

"Last question."

"The hospital gate is right outside. Don’t you want to leave?"

"Of course I do."

Shen Yu nodded vigorously.

"I’d run out of here this instant if I could."

Surely that answer would provoke the guard. After all, this man was supposed to be protecting Qing Shan Psychiatric Hospital.

Instead—

Pat.

The white-bearded guard simply patted Shen Yu on the shoulder with an approving smile before lifting the heavy package and placing it into his arms.

"Excellent."

"It seems your treatment has been very effective."

"Take it."

"This is a very important delivery."

Shen Yu walked out of the security booth carrying the package, completely bewildered.

"...Huh?"

His mouth hung open as he stood frozen outside.

What just happened?

The livestream exploded.

"What?!"

"Yuji said all that and still passed?"

"I don’t understand this dungeon anymore."

"Is that security guard secretly helping them?"

"What the hell?"

"Yuji insulted the hospital the entire time and still passed?"

"I don’t get it."

"Wait... if Yuji completed the quest while controlling Shen Yu’s body... who actually gets the reward?"

"With Yuji’s personality, he’s definitely planning to keep the package for himself."

"It’s over. This quest belongs to Yuji now."

"Looks like this quest belongs to Yuji now."

"In the end, Shen Yu couldn’t do anything..."

The barrage flooded the screen with confusion.

Even outside the dungeon, Ho Yang frowned in confusion.

"What is happening? Didn’t Yuji already clear the quest?"

Only Lu Xian slowly shook her head.

"No..."

"Something isn’t right."

"I have a feeling Yang Jin planned far more than we’ve realized."

Before she could finish speaking—

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Shen Yu’s body suddenly turned toward the hospital’s front gate, only a few meters away.

Ho Yang’s face changed.

"Not good..."

"He’s trying to escape!"

"That idiot!"

"He isn’t escaping—he’s trying to kill Shen Yu!"

The audience immediately understood Yuji’s intentions.

"He’s trying to force Shen Yu into the dungeon’s death condition!"

"He’s still trying to kill him!"

"What a monster..."

Yuji’s sinister smile spread across Shen Yu’s face.

"I don’t believe it."

"This time I’ll escape the psychiatric hospital."

"I refuse to believe that will trigger a death condition."

"Shen Yu, you’re nothing more than a disposable pawn."

"Small fries exist to become stepping stones."

"You and your strange little nurse won’t interfere with me anymore."

Floating nearby, Shen Yu’s soul merely looked at Yuji and smiled.

Yuji frowned.

"What are you laughing at?"

"You’re dead."

"You’re definitely dead."

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Shen Yu’s body sprinted toward the enormous iron gate.

Although it was locked, Yuji climbed through the narrow gaps and scaled the tall bars with surprising agility.

Throughout the entire escape, the white-bearded security guard simply watched from inside the booth.

He made no attempt to stop him.

"You bastard!"

"You actually dare oppose me?"

Yuji laughed as he landed outside the gate and dashed down the fog-covered mountain road.

The farther he ran, the more vicious his grin became.

"Finally..."

"I’ve escaped."

But then—

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The mountain trail suddenly rippled.

The gray mist dissolved.

The forest vanished.

The misty mountain path suddenly twisted.

The dirt road transformed into spotless white floor tiles.

The gloomy sky became a brightly lit hospital ceiling.

In the blink of an eye...

Yuji found himself standing once again inside the first-floor lobby of Qing Shan Psychiatric Hospital.

His pupils shrank.

"...What?"

Tap. Tap. Tap.

A familiar pair of high heels echoed through the corridor.

Yang Jin walked toward him with elegant steps, a faint teasing smile resting on her beautiful face.

"You completed the task."

"Very good."

"I truly didn’t misjudge you."

Yuji’s pupils shrank violently.

"W-Why?"

"After everything..."

"Why did you still help him complete the mission?"

"Don’t come any closer!"

"Stay back!"

Instinctively, he tried to retreat.

Suddenly, a violent pain exploded inside his head.

"Damn..."

"Damn it!"

He shot a hateful glare toward Yang Jin.

The beautiful head nurse merely smiled at him with quiet amusement.

She was smiling.

Not warmly.

Mockingly.

A chill ran down his spine.

His vision blurred.

His body swayed.

The possession was ending.

An overwhelming sense of dread suddenly filled Yuji’s heart.

His vision blurred.

Shen Yu’s body trembled before collapsing forward.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Yang Jin hurried over and caught him in her arms before he hit the floor.

A moment later—

Yuji’s soul was forcibly expelled.

Shen Yu’s consciousness returned to his body.

He slowly opened his eyes, rubbing the back of his aching head before realizing he was resting comfortably against Yang Jin’s soft embrace.

A smile spread across his face.

"Jin..."

"You’re incredible."

"You completely played Yuji."

Yang Jin maintained her usual cold expression.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

"Where’s the package?"

Shen Yu chuckled before handing her the package he had quietly hidden behind his back.

Instead of signing for it immediately, Yang Jin looked at him for a moment before raising a finger.

"Take the package."

"And come with me."

A familiar notification sounded inside Shen Yu’s mind.

Ding!

Yang Jin’s Affection +10

Current Affection: 87

Yang Jin stared at the package without immediately signing for it. Instead, she waved her hand toward Shen Yu.

"Bring it with you."

"Okay."

The two walked through the hallway and arrived at the staircase. They climbed several flights until Yang Jin suddenly stopped. Without warning, she took the package from Shen Yu’s hands and replaced it with a cold vial of reagent.

In the darkness, Shen Yu could feel her eyes fixed on him.

Her gaze carried both scrutiny and an unmistakable warmth.

"Shen Yu..."

"Why don’t you stay here?"

"Huh?"

The sudden question caught him completely off guard.

"If you stay, I can guarantee that no one will ever hurt you."

"I’ll even find a way to make you a male ghost nurse."

"Then... we can stay together forever."

"Jing... you..."

Shen Yu stood there speechless.

In the darkness, Yang Jin seemed like a completely different person. This was a side of her she had never shown before. Shen Yu couldn’t tell whether it was because her affection had reached 87, or if she had always hidden these feelings deep inside.

"You’ll stay... won’t you?"

"Please..."

Before he could answer, something soft pushed him gently against the wall.

Yang Jin wrapped both arms tightly around his waist.

He could feel Yang Jin’s hands tightly hugging his waist, holding him very tightly. Her long, smooth legs tangled around his, twisting like a snake.

She held him as though she was afraid he would disappear.

Her forehead rested against his chest as she remained silent for several long moments. A wave of warm, humid breaths came as Yang Jin face lay against Shen Yu’s chest, moving upwards, her hot breath finally covering in Shen Yu’s lips in the darkness, and Shen Yu could only feel the others heated initiative.

"Please stay."

The buttons of the hospital gown were eagerly undone by soft little hands, and the nurse’s cap fell to the ground.

"Shen Yu... you’re different from everyone else."

"If you stay..."

"I won’t be lonely anymore."

Her voice trembled with longing. Urgent kisses and crazed heat waves continuously struck in Shen Yu’s nerves, and Shen Yu almost lost control.

For a brief moment, Shen Yu almost lost himself.

Slowly, he took a deep breath and gently held her shoulders.

"Jing..."

"I like you too."

"That’s exactly why I can’t lie to you."

"I’m going to leave Qing Shan Psychiatric Hospital."
