Chapter 1288: Chapter 1287: Growth (Forgot to Upload)

The trial didn’t see much progress, just as the legal advisor said. Serra’s lawyer was very professional, dismissing some of the prosecutor’s points.

However, the judge did not make an immediate verdict, and the prosecutor claimed that there was more evidence to submit. So the judge decided another trial was necessary to allow the prosecutor to present additional materials, postponing the result to the next session.

As soon as it ended, Lynch found Serra, and the two embraced briefly.

Serra exuded the air of a lady of wealth from head to toe. Money is truly damn miraculous, how many years has it been?

If Lynch hadn’t known what their family used to be like or what Serra used to be like, he might not have suspected that the woman in front of him was once just an ordinary housewife who revolved around family and the kitchen!

You can’t tell those things from her; you can only see the "height" in her eyes, an expression of indifference towards the entire world, the entire society.

Such emotions often appear in the upper echelons of Federation society. It’s a characteristic that grows more pronounced with increasing wealth.

While some families are still deciding whether to move to a cramped Middle Class neighborhood and compromise with family members, or to move to a bigger house in a slightly lower-grade neighborhood, rich people simply need to write a check, and all their worries disappear!

Rich people are like magicians, their checkbooks are their magic books!

With money, life has no troubles, and humanity’s so-called highlights can be found in these people.

They like to do charity.

Serra does it too; she engages in charity with the celebrities and wealthy women she knows.

Because of Lynch’s connections, many charitable galas and charity auctions send her invitations, and she happily spends a bit of not-so-significant money to earn a good reputation for herself.

She has enough time to read books, which was impossible in the past when she had to immerse herself in domestic chores every day. But now she has the time.

A stable reading schedule, expansive social networking within society’s upper crust, and increased focus on maintaining her figure have enhanced her spirit — she’s a lady of wealth!

And this is the superb role of money!

"Do you need my help?", Lynch asked.

To him, resolving this matter was a simple task. Just a phone call, or directly bringing in a super-luxurious lawyer team, dragging the case out for twenty years.

For most ordinary people, this is simply impossible as they can’t afford the cost, but for Lynch... he stands there for a minute, and voilà, the litigation money is already earned.

Serra shook her head, "My lawyer tells me it’s hard for us to lose, and the litigation is a very interesting process; this is my first time standing in the defendant’s seat."

Serra expressed her feeling of accepting and experiencing new things, and her tone made Lynch feel that she indeed had no problems.

"Your boyfriend isn’t here?"

Serra paused for a moment, "You mean Koman?" After Lynch confirmed it, Serra shrugged, "He’s busy with the company’s listing process recently..."

The business franchising model of You’Er Mei has drawn the Federation’s capital towards the ’tiered franchising’ game model.

Making money using clients’ money while having clients thank you — this is filled with deadly allure for capitalists.

Along with current You’Er Mei’s direct-sale and franchise stores exceeding three hundred in total, most primary and secondary tier cities have You’Er Mei’s presence, and Bupen’s three major high-end firms have provided positive evaluations.

With these assessments coupled with some reasonable operations and transactions, a public listing is just a matter of time.

Koman is more suited to handle such matters; he’s a man, and the Federation is a male-dominated society. Moreover, in some venues and social processes, men are more convenient.

Things like sexual bribery, it’s not appropriate for Serra to handle, so she left it to Koman.

As long as most of the company’s shares and power are in Serra’s hands, Koman has no way to harm the company’s interests.

However, Lynch sensed some of Serra’s disdain for Koman from her words.

Serra herself seemed to realize this.

She thought for a moment and eventually decided to explain, as she is Lynch’s mother.

No matter how she’s changed now, she hopes to portray a positive image in Lynch’s eyes, not as a wanton woman.

"Life is full of stages. I thought my life was full of brilliance in the first sixteen years, until I graduated high school."

"In the subsequent eighteen years, I used a body full of scars to prove that I had tried hard, but destiny did not favor me. I had to accept everything that came my way."

"Then, because of you, dear, our lives changed."

Serra raised her hand to touch Lynch’s cheek, "Koman was a choice during one stage of my life. I have always been improving myself. From my current perspective... he and I are growing apart!"

"Of course, maybe we’ll break up, but even after a breakup, we’ll still be friends and colleagues."

"You don’t have to worry about me; I’ll take good care of myself!"

Serra is a woman who strives hard. After she got wealthy, she didn’t quickly indulge in material desires like some who suddenly got rich.

She studied, actively participated in high society, worked hard to maintain her figure, and restrained her desires. It was as if she was making up for the time lost in the past eighteen years.

Anyway, she is a hard-working and independent woman, which again proves the greatness of money. It can transform anyone into an unimaginable form!

In fact, looking at it from another perspective, Serra adapted and integrated into her current life faster and better than Nell. If Serra were a man, maybe she could have taken a different path.

"Whatever makes you happy!" Lynch gave Serra full understanding, "Just remember that it’s we who choose how we live, not life that chooses us!"

This is also Lynch’s reflection on life; when people have the power to choose their life, they can say no to fate.

After chatting briefly, mother and son parted ways. Serra had to go back to attend social gatherings and describe to her sisters the feeling of standing in the defendant’s position and defying Federation law.

Meanwhile, Lynch was preparing to go home. Just as he was watching Serra leave, he had just gotten into the car and hadn’t started it when someone knocked on his car window.

Austin, sitting in front, didn’t react; he was confident it was a safe person. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so close to Lynch.

Lynch rolled down the car window, "Anything?"

The person outside hesitated for a moment, seeing Lynch didn’t seem inclined to open the door. He then revealed his identity as a senior FBI investigator.

After checking the man’s credentials, Lynch still asked the same question, "Anything?"

Mr. Senior Investigator looked like he had digestive issues, a bit constipated, so Lynch finally let him into another vehicle.

It was clear he wanted to discuss some matters privately with Lynch, and the convoy returned to Lynch’s Half Mountain villa.

After being away for days, returning had his whole mood greatly relaxed.

The maid had already prepared everything for Lynch, and he and the senior investigator directly went to a side hall.

People of this level now no longer had the privilege to enter Lynch’s study.

"Anything?"

Still the same line.

The senior investigator nodded, "Mr. Lynch, some female coaches in Serra Ms.’s You’Er Mei fitness company have a bit of connection with Paradise Island..."

Lynch was somewhat surprised after hearing this. He picked up a cigarette and offered one to Mr. Senior Investigator.

Mr. Senior Investigator was very tactful in taking out a lighter, bent over and stretched to light the cigarette for Lynch, who was sitting on the sofa. Lynch took a puff and looked at him, "Continue."

The senior investigator didn’t smoke himself. He held the cigarette in his hand and continued, "The Federation Government is very dissatisfied with the existence of Paradise Island. We have been gathering evidence hoping to solve the issue of Paradise Island’s jurisdiction."

Lynch flicked off some ashes, "So what does this have to do with You’Er Mei?"

The senior investigator paused in silence, then explained, "We hope to use some small means to legally control some female fitness coaches involved with Paradise Island. This is currently a relatively accessible line we have."

Lynch thought for a moment after hearing this, "You don’t need to explain to me. This is your work. I will support your work!"

Having received confirmation from Lynch, the senior investigator breathed a sigh of relief. He then stated that the case related to You’Er Mei would soon be concluded and then departed.

Lynch understood the problem with Paradise Island was indeed quite troublesome. The initial investors of Paradise Island were either famous Federation capitalists or politicians hiding behind the scenes.

Once when chatting with Mr. Wardrick, he mentioned Paradise Island affairs; it was very likely that the creation of Paradise Island was a collective masterpiece of some people!

Otherwise, why didn’t the Federation Government prevent its emergence early, but waited until it appeared and became a fait accompli before thinking of crushing Paradise Island’s developers instead of those investors?

It’s simple, everything was prepared, they didn’t need investors anymore, so they needed a reasonable, lawful, justified way to get rid of that person.

Of course, this was just Lynch’s view, not necessarily the fact. However, anyway, this matter had little to do with him, even though he was an investor.

After the senior investigator left, Lynch began handling some work.

During his time outside, some work requiring signatures was left until now. As the maid helped bring some documents, Lynch noticed her ring.

A very ordinary-looking ring that seemed to be made of silver.

No master’s crafted style, no diamonds or gems, nor did it appear to be from a top brand’s craftsmanship, like a half-authentic ring from a roadside antique shop that costs twenty bucks!

More importantly, it was worn on the finger representing the married status.

"You didn’t tell me you were married."

Lynch set down the documents in his hand, somewhat surprised, "You should have told me so I could give you some gifts."

The maid was a bit shy but also somewhat blissful, "Mr. Lynch, thank you very much, we bought a house, and after that, my boyfriend finished his work in his old hometown and found a plumber job here."

"We got married last month..."
