Chapter 582: Chapter 387: Helium Balloon

The next day.

After a day of training,

Wang Ye arrived at their product development lab.

At this moment.

Many designers were still verifying calculations based on Wang Ye’s suggestions from the previous day,

Most of them had dark circles under their eyes, clearly lacking sleep.

Upon seeing Wang Ye enter, they immediately flocked to him, starting to ask questions about the problems they encountered,

Li Weimin, standing nearby, observed the scene and further confirmed the fact that Wang Ye possessed a super brain.

Wang Ye’s efficiency in answering questions was very high; he resolved all the issues within half an hour, and then he found the engineer responsible for developing the helium balloon to see the current design of the helium balloon.

The engineer immediately handed over the current design drawings to Wang Ye.

Wang Ye glanced at them and couldn’t help but frown.

This design was even worse than he anticipated.

It seems he has more than just improvements to make.

The entire design probably needs to be redone.

Originally, Red Bull’s stratosphere project also used a helium balloon to ascend, but that project’s helium balloon reached eighty meters, fully expanded to six thousand cubic meters, filled with helium providing great lift, taking Felix’s space capsule to a height of 39,000 meters.

Now, Wang Ye needs to challenge greater heights than the stratosphere project,

While they don’t have an exact plan for the height yet,

it’s expected to be above 40,000 meters.

The difficulty of ascending and parachuting will be greater than the stratosphere project.

Although today’s technological level is much higher than back then, this is definitely a significant challenge for engineers, because if the helium balloon is not designed rigorously and the materials are not durable, it could break at any time. Although it won’t necessarily pose a life-threatening risk, the challenge process will surely be broadcast live globally,

If the helium balloon breaks during the challenge, Anta’s investment in billions might go down the drain, and the quality of Anta’s products will be questioned, facing countless criticisms, including the potential dismissal and job loss for these engineers.

Now the design created by this engineer looks far worse than the helium balloon of the original stratosphere plan, as the material and structural concept are not mature, and it’s still following Red Bull’s old path.

If they want to surpass the stratosphere project,

they must innovate,

Wang Ye pondered for a moment,

Took a pen,

And began to write down his thoughts on the paper.

First of all, to rise above 40,000 meters, the helium balloon’s limit height cannot just be 40,000 meters, as there needs to be prevention of various unforeseen occurrences.

As Wang Ye’s pencil swiftly moved across the paper,

beautiful handwriting appeared on the paper.

Comparable to professional students who have practiced calligraphy for years.

The reason why he has this calligraphy skill,

Is because when designing bicycles, Wang Ye recorded Painting Skill into the system,

Calligraphy and Painting are inseparable, as Wang Ye learned painting, his calligraphy level also slowly improved.

Wang Ye had already conducted precise calculations in his mind, so he directly wrote the basic parameters on the first line of the white paper.

Helium volume: about 60,000 cubic meters.

Balloon diameter: 120 meters (after inflation)

Total weight ≤ 3.5 tons (including crew cabin)

The designer next to him couldn’t help but speak up after seeing these basic parameters: "Won’t these parameters be too high...? Perhaps our material isn’t that strong? If we use these parameters, the helium balloon might break during ascent."

"Relax, it will suffice." Wang Ye casually replied without detailed explanation.

Soon, Wang Ye continued painting the design diagram, his pencil like a machine sketching orderly circles and straight lines on the white paper, the people around looked on in amazement, in just a few blinks, Wang Ye had drawn a giant three-dimensional helium balloon sketch on the paper,

With such Power, even seasoned designers with decades of experience might find it hard to achieve this, where did Wang Ye learn these peculiar Skills?

After completing the sketch, Wang Ye proceeded to label the various parts of the helium balloon.

The outermost layer of the helium balloon uses 0.02mm ultra-thin polyethylene + graphene coating material, enhancing UV resistance by 300%. The middle layer utilizes aramid fiber woven mesh material, with tensile strength ≥ 500 MPa. The innermost layer employs nano-alumina coated material, reducing helium permeability to 0.1L/m²·day.

Structurally, it uses a pumpkin-shaped segmented structure with a total of 128 segments, looking dense mainly to lower stress concentration and prevent tearing, internally strengthened with longitudinal cable net utilizing the carbon fiber rope technology of the Long March 5 fairing. And lateral tear-resistant banding with 1.2-meter intervals between each, increasing pressure resistance strength of the balloon.

Facing adverse environments like low temperature and strong UV, Wang Ye pondered for a long time, adding several coatings to the outermost layer of the balloon that could withstand low temperature and UV, but these coatings aren’t easily obtainable, so Wang Ye has to create them himself using Reconstruction of All Things Ability.

Facing stratospheric horizontal jet streams reaching 60 meters per second, Wang Ye adopted dune-like curvilinear drag reduction design, thereby avoiding most jet streams, preventing the helium balloon from being blown away during ascent or causing instability when the challenger is about to challenge, leading to failure of the challenge.
