Chapter 971: Chapter 971: Holding Hands!

"I’m just a junior assistant, how could I trouble you to personally see me off, President Lin," Rui Changhuai said.

"Please don’t say that," President Lin was actually startled by this.

Then he sighed, "Changlin is such a big company and still operates so cautiously. And you, Mr. Rui, working at President Zhao’s side, are just as cautious. Truly a role model for people like us—there’s so much we should learn from you."

Rui Changhuai exchanged a few more polite words with President Lin.

Manager Tang added, "President Lin, then I’ll go back... and talk to Li Xiaoyun about this."

"Alright," President Lin said.

He wasn’t worried that Li Xiaoyun would turn it down.

This was a pie falling from the sky kind of good fortune.

If Li Xiaoyun really wanted to take over Manager Tang’s position, there was no way she’d refuse.

"Hurry back and sort this out. Let Li Xiaoyun get familiar with the details of this cooperation and contact Mr. Rui as soon as possible," President Lin instructed.

"Yes," Manager Tang answered, then left together with Rui Changhuai.

President Lin watched them go, until they disappeared from sight.

Only then did President Lin sigh, "Changlin really lives up to its name!"

Just a few words from Rui Changhuai and he’d already been coaxed into compliance, and now he was still admiring how strict a giant like Changlin was.

Truly admirable and worth learning from.

All of a sudden President Lin felt like he’d been injected with chicken blood, thinking that this whole morning’s conversation had been incredibly enlightening.

He rushed back to his office and started hammering away at the keyboard.

He’d decided to learn from Changlin, and impose the same strict standards throughout Ruishi.

Start with new company regulations!

Rui Changhuai had absolutely no idea that with just a few coaxing lines to President Lin, he was about to plunge Ruishi’s employees into an endless-darkness work environment.

Nor did he expect that, fired up by today’s chicken blood, President Lin would end up remaking Ruishi, actually pushing it another step forward.

Meanwhile, Rui Changhuai and Manager Tang stepped into the elevator together.

Manager Tang pressed the button for the floor where the business department was.

Seeing that, Rui Changhuai asked, "Manager Tang, are you heading back to the business department?"

"Yes," Manager Tang said. "This is something I’d better tell Li Xiaoyun as soon as possible so she can be mentally prepared."

She was actually hoping Li Xiaoyun would take it on.

Even though the gossip she’d face was obviously going to multiply.

The upside was much bigger.

But if Li Xiaoyun really cared so much about the gossip that she wasn’t willing to accept, Manager Tang wouldn’t force her.

In that case, the manager position would probably have nothing to do with Li Xiaoyun.

At least, President Lin wouldn’t get past that hurdle.

As Manager Tang was thinking this, she heard Rui Changhuai say, "Manager Tang, would it be convenient for me to go with you and take a look? I can get to know Miss Li, which will be helpful for our future cooperation."

When Manager Tang heard this, she thought to herself that this time, Li Xiaoyun probably wouldn’t even get the chance to refuse.

"Of course," Manager Tang would never say no.

When the elevator stopped, Manager Tang said, "Mr. Rui, this way please."

Manager Tang led Rui Changhuai to the business department.

"Let’s go straight to my office," Manager Tang said.

"Sure," Rui Changhuai nodded.

So Manager Tang took Rui Changhuai to her office first.

Then she dialed the landline on Li Xiaoyun’s desk: "Xiao Yun, come to my office for a minute."

"Okay," Li Xiaoyun replied, and got up to leave.

In the office, the other colleagues had just seen Rui Changhuai walking in with Manager Tang.

But not everyone recognized Rui Changhuai.

Wang Honglin said, "The guy who just walked in with Manager Tang, why does he look so familiar to me?"

Zhou Yunyun didn’t like talking to Zheng Xuelin and that little pack of lackeys around him, so she sent a WeChat message to Lin Lingli: "Did you see? I think he looks familiar too."

Lin Lingli: "You’re not the only one, I think he looks familiar as well."

In the whole office, only Zheng Xuelin knew that this man was Rui Changhuai, Zhao Dingli’s assistant.

Even at Changlin, he was someone just one step below the boss and above the masses.

For the sake of this cooperation, Zheng Xuelin had gone to Changlin many times to see Vice President Lu.

So of course he’d seen Rui Changhuai.

Even though they’d never spoken, he’d run into him a few times in passing and so on.

Zheng Xuelin’s face went cold, his brows knotted tightly.

Why would Rui Changhuai personally come over, and even go into Manager Tang’s office?

Could it be about that cooperation?

But if it was about the cooperation with Changlin, why hadn’t Manager Tang called him to the office, and instead called in Li Xiaoyun?

Li Xiaoyun reached Manager Tang’s office door, knocked twice, and heard Manager Tang tell her to come in.

After Li Xiaoyun entered, she saw Rui Changhuai as well.

Li Xiaoyun didn’t know Rui Changhuai, and she’d never really had any chance to interact with him before.

She just felt that Rui Changhuai looked pretty familiar.

Same with Zhou Yunyun and the others—the reason they found him familiar was because whenever Zhao Dingli appeared on camera or was reported on, most of the time Rui Changhuai was right by his side.

So they had all actually seen Rui Changhuai before; they just didn’t immediately place him.

"Manager Tang," Li Xiaoyun called, "and this is...?"

Since Manager Tang had called her in now, it had to have something to do with Rui Changhuai.

Manager Tang smiled and said, "This is President Zhao of Changlin’s assistant, Rui Changhuai—Mr. Rui."

President Zhao?

Zhao Dingli?

Li Xiaoyun’s eyes widened slightly for a brief moment.

Rui Changhuai immediately knew that Li Xiaoyun definitely knew their president!

He just didn’t know under what circumstances their president had gotten to know Li Xiaoyun.

He really couldn’t figure it out.

Ordinarily, Zhao Dingli hardly had any opportunity to meet women.

It wasn’t that women didn’t come looking for him.

It was that Zhao Dingli never gave those women a chance.

He went straight home after work.

When he left his nest, it was to go to the office.

Who would ever get a chance to approach him?

But Li Xiaoyun’s reaction lasted only an instant; she quickly returned to normal.

"Mr. Rui," Li Xiaoyun hurriedly greeted, and shook hands with Rui Changhuai.

As soon as he let go, Rui Changhuai regretted it.

They were just following workplace habit—meeting, shaking hands, saying hello.

Especially for a first meeting.

He’d done the same just now in President Lin’s office with President Lin and Manager Tang.

But if their president found out, this wouldn’t be a social handshake anymore.

It would be a man and a woman holding hands!

Rui Changhuai knew Zhao Dingli far too well.

He didn’t need to wait for anything to actually happen to know that this is exactly how Zhao Dingli would see it.

Rui Changhuai decided he absolutely couldn’t tell Zhao Dingli about this when he got back.

And he hoped Li Xiaoyun wouldn’t mention it either.

He wondered if begging Li Xiaoyun later to keep it confidential would work?

"Xiao Yun, sit," Manager Tang said with a smile.

Once the three of them were seated, Li Xiaoyun asked, "Manager Tang, you called me in because...?"

Especially since it had something to do with Changlin.

Lately, with all the cooperation matters with Changlin, anything even remotely related to them had become especially sensitive.

Li Xiaoyun’s intuition told her this had to be about the cooperation.
