Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Voting
"So, you’re saying this grilled Hangzhou pepper is different too?" Lowell asked as he picked up a skewer.
He took a bite, and the cheese inside stretched into threads.
"Although I personally don’t find Hangzhou pepper spicy, I can’t exclude the guests who can’t eat any spicy food," Ye Fei explained. "So, adding cheese can neutralize that little bit of spiciness in the pepper. Even people who don’t eat spicy food should be able to accept it."
"With the vegetables paired together, and eating the ingredients while they’re hot, even with cheese, it doesn’t feel greasy," Lowell nodded in agreement.
The five judges shared and finished all the remaining skewers on Ye Fei’s grill.
What was left were the ingredients that hadn’t been grilled yet.
The five of them regretfully retracted their gazes, as it wouldn’t be appropriate to have Ye Fei continue grilling.
The staff came up and placed the contestants’ ticket boxes in a prominent position on the stage, taking away the snack carts.
Gu Changfeng said, "Now, each of us has a food coupon. The coupon in our hands is equivalent to 10 tickets. We will put our respective coupons on the contestants’ ticket boxes."
Luo Jialin took out her food coupon first and said, "I’ll give my coupon to Zeng Jieyun. Her wheel cakes perfectly fit the snack theme and are a common sight in night markets, yet she added her own creative touch."
Luo Jialin placed her coupon on Zeng Jieyun’s ticket box.
Ye Huasong said, "I give these 10 votes to Fei Xiaomo. Not only does she fit today’s competition theme, but what’s more commendable is her consideration for the diners throughout. She thought about the convenience of eating snacks, the customers’ tastes, and even how the environment today might affect their appetite."
"Because of the time, location, and more importantly, seeing from the diners’ perspective to make changes for them," Ye Huasong placed his coupon on Ye Fei’s box.
Guo Wenbo directly put his coupon on Li Zhexuan’s box, "I cast my vote for Li Zhexuan. Fried chicken is a very common snack, and the simpler it is, the harder it is to make it well."
"Li Zhexuan’s fried chicken excellently retained the meat juices of the chicken," Guo Wenbo said while pulling apart the chicken leg, the visible juices dripping down his fingers.
Watching this, the audience couldn’t help but swallow.
"Moreover, before frying, Li Zhexuan did an extra step by pricking the chicken with a needle. This made the meat softer and created small gaps within it. In these gaps, he sprinkled a small amount of chopped celery before dipping in flour to fry. When eating, you can see small amounts of green within the chicken, not just on the surface."
"The unique aroma of celery blended with the chicken unexpectedly harmonizes, and such meticulous thought deserves my vote."
When it was Gu Changfeng’s turn, he put his coupon on Ye Fei’s box.
"I vote for Fei Xiaomo," Gu Changfeng said, taking a piece of chicken leg meat, cutting it to reveal the layers inside, "The perilla leaves are crispy, the chicken leg meat is tender, and in between the layers are bits of dried plum, each layer offers unexpected flavors and textures."
Finally, Gu Changfeng looked at Lowell, "Lowell, how about you?"
Lowell smiled and said, "I also give my vote to Fei Xiaomo."
