Wen Nuan helped Che Huan carry a piece of luggage and hailed a taxi.
Once in the cab, the destination given, Wen Nuan affectionately looped her arm through Che Huan’s, asking why she had suddenly taken off for ten days.
Che Huan smiled without a word, neither of them noticing the car speeding up more and more.
The taxi driver struggled to keep control, his face growing pale, as he pressed hard on the brakes to no avail, and couldn’t help but curse, "Damn it, it’s like the brakes have failed!"
