Chapter 335: Conflict (1)_1
Huo Jinxue glared resentfully and when her gaze fell upon Huo Jinbei, she suddenly burst into uncontrollable tears. "Third brother! Come here, why are you still sitting there!"
Huo Jinbei stood up, glanced at the old man and Huo Qichang’s direction, and seeing that they refused to say anything, a trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He walked over and sat beside Huo Jinxue, taking a tissue and gently wiping her tears with tender movements.
Huo Jinxue rubbed her red eyes and looked at Huo Jinbei, leaning on his shoulder. "Third brother..."
Huo Jinbei hugged Huo Jinxue, gently patting her back. "Don’t worry, Mom will be alright."
Huo Jinnan glanced at Huo Jinxue and Huo Jinbei, then raised his eyes to Huo Qichang, his gaze devoid of any warmth. "We need to talk."
Huo Qichang, seeing the attitude of his three children, helplessly collapsed onto a seat. "Can’t we wait until your mother is out of danger before we discuss anything?"
"Discuss later?" Huo Jinnan’s eyes, which had stayed on Huo Qichang, gradually frosted over.
Che Huan, noting the change in his expression and feeling the chill emanating from him, wanted to say something but didn’t know what, merely gripping the little one’s hand tightly, squeezing gently and feeling somewhat breathless.
What was it that could create such a deep rift between father and son? It seemed even deeper than the one between her and her mother!
For a long time, no one spoke. The entire hallway was so quiet that only the sound of breathing remained, the atmosphere chilling to an extreme.
Che Huan watched silently, sensing that there seemed to be some irreconcilable conflict within the Huo Family, which now was on the verge of eruption.
And their trip to get the marriage certificate today seemed to have become the fuse!
The little one pursed her small lips and looked at Che Huan. "Huanhuan."
Che Huan snapped back to reality and looked down at the little one. "What is it?"
The little one touched Che Huan’s soft hand. "Huanhuan, my grandma is such a good person; she won’t be in trouble, will she?"
Che Huan nodded her head. "That’s right, she won’t be in trouble. God will always protect the good."
The little one nodded, casting a glance in the direction of the old man, Huo Qichang, Huo Jinyun, and Gu Jizhou. "But why doesn’t God punish the bad people?"
Hearing the words "bad people," the old man’s hand shaking the cane trembled, his emotions complex as he gazed at the little one.
He had previously thought the little one was not Jinnan’s biological flesh and blood, but after what Jinnan said on his birthday, he had lain in bed thinking all night and suddenly realized - the child had been switched at birth!
As for how the switch happened, he had already sent Uncle Guan to investigate, but so far, no answers had been found.
Looking at the little one again, he thought about how his cherished great-grandchild had always been distant from him, and now to be called a bad person by her!
Indeed, last night had been an accident, it was unexpected that Xiaoqin would react so violently, leading to an acute rejection reaction.
These incidents had occurred several times over the years, yet besides that one time seven years ago, there had never been an instance as dangerous as today. Would Xiaoqin be able to pull through?
Taking a deep breath, he looked in Huo Qichang’s direction.
Huo Qichang sat there, his face filled with sorrow, his gaze fixated on the little one. He couldn’t believe that in his grandchild’s heart he was considered a bad person!
How could he be a bad person?
The little one pouted, noticing that Huo Qichang was staring at her. She coldly and indifferently shifted her gaze away and looked toward Huo Jinnan, calling out "Daddy."
Huo Jinnan looked down at the little one. "What is it?"
