Chapter 293: 295 Her Life and Death Tribulation (1)_1
The troop leader resentfully glanced at Che Huan, her eyes red as she discontentedly nibbled on Che Huan’s finger.
Che Huan looked apologetically at the troop leader and gently stroked its head.
The troop leader sulkily glanced in Huo Jinnan’s direction.
Huo Jinnan, holding a cigarette in hand, watched the troop leader. Thinking back to the recent "darling", the color of his eyes became even more dark and obscure, like something taken out of a cold storage.
The troop leader shrank its neck, shivering a bit as the temperature in the room seemed to have dropped all of a sudden.
It looked innocently at Che Huan, about to burrow into her arms in search of warmth, when suddenly it heard a knock on the door and stared towards the doorway with wide eyes.
Che Huan walked over to open the door and saw Che Zhiqiang. She wanted to call out "Dad," but thinking of his silence over the past few days, she found she couldn’t utter the word.
Che Zhiqiang looked exhausted, "Huanhuan, may I come in?"
Che Huan glanced back in Huo Jinnan’s direction and stepped aside.
Che Zhiqiang, seeing the silhouette of a man on the balcony, felt a chill, "Huanhuan, I came today just to ask you to let your grandmother go. She’s old..."
"Just because someone is old, they can smear others wantonly?"
Before Che Huan could speak, Huo Jinnan turned and looked towards Che Zhiqiang, ended the call, and walked this way, his voice as cold as devoid of any warmth.
Che Zhiqiang, not knowing who Huo Jinnan was, thought that even Gu Jizhou couldn’t contend with him, and feeling the aura emanating from the other man gave him an illusion of being crushed and out of breath, "Sir, my mother has greatly offended..."
"Offended?" Huo Jinnan took a drag of his cigarette, sat down on the bed’s edge, and lifted his gaze towards Che Zhiqiang. The dark gleam in his eyes lay in wait, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Che Zhiqiang didn’t know how to continue, looking at Che Huan, his mind filled with questions. How could it be that Che Huan and Gu Jizhou hadn’t married? How could there be nothing in the records!
Che Huan brushed aside her fringe and looked towards Che Zhiqiang and Huo Jinnan, "You guys talk, I’ll go find Nuannuan."
She hugged the troop leader’s neck.
Huo Jinnan glanced in Che Huan’s direction, his gaze falling on the troop leader.
The troop leader opened its eyes wide, looking at Huo Jinnan innocently.
It had never been looked at by its owner with such a gaze, completely lost and bewildered.
It wagged its tail at Huo Jinnan and followed her out of the guest room amidst her owner’s icy stare, heading towards room 302.
Che Zhiqiang wanted to call out to Che Huan to stay, but seeing Huo Jinnan’s countenance, he swallowed his words back down.
After Che Huan left, Huo Jinnan swept a glance at Che Zhiqiang, "Go close the door."
Che Zhiqiang shut the door and walked towards Huo Jinnan.
Huo Jinnan lit another cigarette, "Sit over there. I don’t like people getting too close to me."
Che Zhiqiang’s face went through a moment of awkwardness. Observing Huo Jinnan’s demeanor, naturally commanding, he didn’t dare to offend easily and sat at a far distance from Huo Jinnan, looking in his direction, feeling a complete lack of equal footing. How was he to proceed with the upcoming conversation?
Huo Jinnan picked up the ashtray beside him, gently tapped it, disregarding Che Zhiqiang’s anxious demeanor, and said in a low and cold voice, "I can release your mother. Being old, it’s indeed tough for her in there. However, it will depend on your sincerity."
A flicker of hope ignited in Che Zhiqiang’s heart, "Of course, I come here sincerely to ask the gentleman."
Huo Jinnan lifted his gaze, glanced at Che Zhiqiang, "If that’s the case, then tell me why Wen Ru chose to marry you back then?"
Why?
Che Zhiqiang’s complexion changed for a moment, and he quickly fell silent.
