Chapter 264: Dad’s Bad Reputation (1)_1

Wen Ru looked at Wen Hua, "Brother, Huanhuan’s dog Tuanzhang is quite endearing."

Wen Hua nodded, glanced in the direction of Che Huan and Tuanzhang, and did not reveal the truth.

Tuanzhang leaned against Che Huan and proudly shook its tail.

Wen Nuan, who was watching from the side, said, "What are you being so smug about? Keep it up and I’m taking you to breed tomorrow!"

Tuanzhang barked at Wen Nuan.

Wen Nuan didn’t dare to provoke Tuanzhang too much, so she stood aside, just glowering at Tuanzhang. Then thinking of the male god, truly a pet raised by a male god, it was so cool and so tsundere towards Gu Jizhou just now!

Che Huan sat nearby watching Tuanzhang, her smile just beginning to fade, when she heard her phone ring.

Seeing "A Huo Jinnan" on the display, she quickly picked up the phone and stood up to leave the hospital room.

She hesitated between hanging up and answering, and accidentally touched the screen, unintentionally connecting the call, through which came the man’s low and mellow voice.

"Have you arrived at Li City?"

Hearing Huo Jinnan’s voice, Che Huan hummed in agreement, bit her lower lip, unsure of what to say, and finally managed, "Thank you for saving me that day."

"Just that?"

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, watching the rings of smoke rise, his voice eerily persuasive.

"What would Mr. Huo like, then?"

Che Huan asked quietly, glancing around and noticing Tuanzhang, who had at some point come out and was standing beside her.

Huo Jinnan didn’t reply for a long time, the indifference and distance in her tone making him frown lightly.

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up first."

"Don’t you dare hang up!"

Che Huan had just spoken out when the man’s powerful voice came through the phone, making her fingers stiffen on the device, uncertain of what to say, "Is the little one alright?"

"Just a scratch. Why don’t you ask about me?"

Huo Jinnan took a draw on his cigarette, his fingers playing with it in a sensual, graceful way.

"..."

Che Huan didn’t reply, and when the name "Huo Minhan" appeared in her mind, her heart felt like it had been gouged out, aching dully.

"I’ve got some work to do; I’ll call you back later tonight."

Seeing Huo Bei entering the room, Huo Jinnan glanced over, not waiting for Che Huan to hang up, and said in his low, mellow voice, "I’ll hang up first."

Che Huan looked down at her toes and hung up the phone, standing lost in thought in the corridor.

What did this now count as?

A flirtation?

It wasn’t until someone came over, looking warily at Tuanzhang beside her, that Che Huan came back to her senses and led Tuanzhang back into the hospital room.

Huo Bei looked towards Huo Jinnan, "Sir, there was an item missing at the scene."

Huo Jinnan stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, "What?"

Huo Bei spoke softly, "Li Li’s mobile phone is missing." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Just as he finished speaking, the door creaked open.

The little buddy, dressed in pajamas and with messy hair, stood at the doorway, saw Huo Bei, stepped back, and gently knocked.

"Come in."

Huo Jinnan glanced at the little buddy, then fixed his gaze on Huo Bei, "Go and check it out. Find it as soon as possible."

"Yes, sir," Huo Bei said, exiting and gently closing the door to the study.

The little one looked back, rubbed his hair, walked to the desk, barely tall enough to see over the top, unable to see Huo Jinnan’s face at all!

He moved his chair, which he normally used for practicing calligraphy, beside him, sat on it, and wobbled as he adjusted it higher and higher.

Not until it couldn’t be raised any further and the height difference between the two was minimized did he look at Huo Jinnan, "Dad, there’s something I’d like to check with you."

Huo Jinnan didn’t look at the little buddy, opened his laptop, and while reviewing emails, he spoke, "Go ahead."
