Chapter 253: 255 Either/Or (2)_1
"Huanhuan!"
Bi Fu called out, wanting to chase after her, but Wen Hua held her back and looked at Wen Nuan, "You and your mom go back home and wait for a bit, I’ll go check it out."
Wen Hua got into the car and had just left the residential area when he saw Che Huan had already gotten into a taxi. He hurriedly followed.
Che Huan, with her mind set on the little one, clasped her hands tightly together, trembling slightly, completely unaware that her uncle’s car was following right behind.
She wanted to call Huo Jinnan, but, thinking of Li Li’s words, she decided against it. It wasn’t too late to call him after she had exchanged herself for the little one!
Once she made up her mind, she kept urging the taxi driver, "Sir, please go faster!"
"Miss, I can’t go any faster, there are speed limits all along this road."
"..."
Che Huan fell silent, sitting in the passenger seat, continuously checking the time on her phone.
She had never felt time pass so agonizingly slow before, her heart felt as if it were roasting over a fire!
As they were finally nearing the destination, Che Huan took a deep breath and said to the taxi driver, "Sir, could you please call this number in a moment, and tell them my name is Che Huan and that Huo Minhan is here. I’m sure he will reward you handsomely!"
The taxi driver, noticing how Che Huan was shaking badly and that something was off with her tone, asked, "Miss, is everything all right? What are you doing here at this abandoned factory alone?"
"Sir, please, just remember to make the call, thank you!"
Che Huan took out her wallet, gave all her money to the taxi driver, and after seeing that the driver had taken note of the number, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly got out of the car, and walked toward the abandoned factory not far away.
As she walked, she called Li Li, "I’m here, how do I find you?"
Li Li gave her directions over the phone.
After turning a few corners, Che Huan saw an old rusty iron door, pushed it open, and went in, where she saw Li Li and the little one with a cloth bag tied around his mouth.
The little one’s hands and feet were bound, his forehead was swollen, his face smeared with dirt and bloodstains.
Upon seeing Che Huan, his large eyes looked at her, wanting to speak, but only managed a muffled "mmm mmm mmm" sound, kicking and struggling in a filthy corner.
Seeing the little one’s condition, Che Huan felt an excruciating pain in her heart and turned to Li Li, "Whatever you have against me, take it out on me and let the child go!"
Li Li looked at Che Huan fiercely, "You didn’t call the police, did you?"
Che Huan nodded, "No, I didn’t."
"You didn’t call Huo Jinnan?"
"No, I didn’t."
Li Li, eyes as if trying to bore a hole through Che Huan, demanded, "Throw me your phone!"
Che Huan threw her phone to Li Li as instructed.
Li Li, while keeping her eyes on Che Huan, picked up the phone to check it. There had been no calls made recently, and she didn’t look like she was lying. "Come over here!"
Che Huan smiled at the little one and slowly walked over, letting Li Li tie her up, "Can you let Huo Minhan go now?"
"Let him go?"
Li Li laughed coldly, "You’re so naive to think that!"
Che Huan looked at Li Li, "The little guy’s mother is Gu Yunqing, aren’t you afraid of offending both the Gu Family and the Huo Family?"
Li Li stared at Che Huan for a while without saying a word.
Che Huan smiled broadly, "If I’m not mistaken, the last time you framed me, you were following Gu Yunqing’s orders!"
Li Li’s eyes glinted with malice as she stared at Che Huan. How could she still manage to smile at this moment? Did she really think Huo Jinnan would turn against the Gu Family for her sake?
The people who wanted her dead were not just limited to Li Li!
