Chapter 525: [Bonus Chapter] Truth (2-Last) / THE END.
Feeling Nancy’s body weighing down on him, Cal was surprised. He looked at her with puzzlement before he realized what was happening hence he just smiled and hugged her.
"It’s okay, I am here. It was not a dream." Cal whispered which just made Nancy cry even more.
Thinking about it, it was not strange to see her behave like this. After all, she had lived two lives, from which both were akin to hell. In one, she and her whole family were killed while in the second she had been trapped inside a body that was not even hers!
And this all happened with the belief that the only one she really loved from the bottom of her heart will never appear in her life ever again! Yet, through some miraculous reason, she not only met him again but also inside a completely new world where they even spent the best night together they ever had!
If all this was not akin to a heaven-blessed dream, then what was?
However, Cal knew way too well no matter how good it seemed to be that it was not a dream nor an illusion; this was reality, and from the way Nancy began to calm down after feeling him caressing her back gently, he knew she was realizing this fact too.
The two remained on the ground in each other’s embrace for minutes straight and only when Nancy showed signs of calming down did Cal place a finger below her chin and raised her gaze.
"Better?" Cal asked passionately to which Nancy nodded.
Cal smiled and stood up slowly, helping Nancy up also as her legs seemed to be still weak for obvious reasons.
"How are you feeling?" once he helped her to sit down on the bed, Cal picked up both of their clothes from the ground, and while he put his on he handed Nancy hers.
Although still in disbelief that everything that was happening was real, Nancy thanked Cal’s kindness before she replied with a rosy and scarcely embarrassed face;
"Except for being a little... weak... I feel good."
"That is good." Cal nodded as he tied his robe and was ready to give a recovery pill to Nancy when she suddenly looked at him, her small lips opening and closing almost as if she was hesitant to talk.
[She seems to wish to tell you something.]
Cal furrowed his brows for a second before he decided to sit down beside the still naked beauty and place a hand on her smooth and perfect thigh. That action, of course, earned a small shudder from Nancy which lasted for at least five seconds.
"You can always tell me anything, you know that, right?"
Nancy looked into Cal’s serious but soft eyes, and as if she was shy to look into his eyes she averted her gaze before taking a deep breath and starting to speak;
"Cal, although I know this will be weird, my death at that time was not an accident nor because your father wished to put a leash on you. I died because..."
"Because I had to die."
Cal frowned upon hearing that, confused deeply. What did she mean she had to die? Was there a reason, a way bigger reason than he had initially thought?
Although puzzled, Cal still remained silent and waited for Nancy to continue.
Taking a deep breath, Nancy raised her hand and softly touched it. Instantly, a silver light enveloped it and under the shocked gaze of Cal, a silver bracelet appeared on her slim wrist!
It was the same bracelet he had, the Power Obtainer!
"But... how? How do you even have something like that?" Cal asked to which Nancy just sighed and shook his head.
"Until now, I was completely oblivious about its existence, but when you separated my soul from Liza’s and transferred me into my new body, almost like unlocking a hidden and sealed part within my mind, memories I couldn’t remember resurfaced."
Then, after taking a deep breath, she glanced at Cal and said, "It seemed my father and yours, both of them were a part of a large group, one that possessed power no one ever could have imagined."
"Group?" Cal’s frown deepened even more before his eyes widened and asked, "Are you talking about the Realm Walkers? The ones traveling between worlds?"
"They are calling themselves as such, yes, but their real name is The Gifted. According to them, they had been living ever since the cosmos, and all the universes were created, and they are doing experiments on candidates that seem special. Though, I don’t know the why."
Cal slowly became even more confused and in the end, he asked, "Even if all this is true, how do you know so much about all this? No, a better question should be how was I able to kill my father if he was also a Gifted? And why did you leave just that small note behind or how is it that this bracelet on my wrist is the exact same one I got from you? All these things just make no sense!"
"The answers for those are simple," Nancy replied and shortly after continued, "First of all, when you have found my body that night, it was not dead; I was not dead. It was all just an act they set up that worked perfectly because of the special pill they made me eat, making it impossible for others to detect my heartbeat!"
"But your... The body was covered in wounds and you were even bleeding!"
"That is also the side effect of the pill. It works just like a pain killer so when they cut my skin to make it look like I had been killed, I felt nothing. In fact, at that time I was in deep slumber so that is also a reason why I didn’t feel a thing."
Then, she continued, "That note, however, I wrote because I hoped that you will find him and also me, but it seemed I was just too naive to believe that."
"Wait... So it means you were... well aware of everything that happened with you? You knew what will happen and even cooperated with their ’experiments’ willingly?" Cal asked with a deep frown, feeling a hint of anger for Nancy not telling him something so important.
However, she shook her head and said, "No, I was only told I have to help them make a few records for which they will give me a hefty amount of money. I wanted to surprise you, but I couldn’t as... as..."
Seeing that she was about to cry, Cal sighed and asked, ’And what about the bracelet? It still doesn’t explain how I ended up here in this world also."
Wiping the tears away from the corner of her eyes, Nancy sniffed softly and said, "Initially, they said I should always keep it with me, but about two or three months before I was ’killed’, they told me it no longer mattered so because it looked beautiful I decided to give it to you as a gift."
[They manipulated her to give it to you. It seemed they eyed you also from the very start as a candidate.]
Cal nodded as he thought this was the most plausible explanation before he asked, "And what about my father? If he really was as you said, a Gifted, I shouldn’t have been able to kill him."
"Because you didn’t kill him." Nancy shook her head and after a deep inhale she said, "Or at least the one you ad killed was not him but someone else in disguise as the moment I woke up after my ’death’, I found myself in this massive facility with both my and your father wearing black uniforms, doing their experiments on thousands of other candidates!"
’So that fucker is still alive?’ anger and hatred seeped out immediately from Cal’s gaze which he quickly withdrew in fear he will accidentally hurt or scare Nancy.
"Also..." after saying all that, Nancy looked at Cal’s bracelet, and in a low voice, she said, "I know that someone is stuck inside your bracelet and I think I know how to free her. However, if we do it, 90% of your bracelet’s power will vanish as she is like a... battery, a source of energy for it."
"...Huh?"
[...What?]
Both Nova and Cal were stupefied by this sudden revelation, but seeing that Nancy was really telling him the truth, without hesitation nodded, "Sure, tell me what we have to do. After all, I have promised her I will give her freedom back."
Nancy although surprised that Cal didn’t ask her how she knew his bracelet had someone sealed inside, seeing his serious expression blushed a little and nodded.
"Then here is what you have to do..."

A thousand years later...
Sitting at the edge of a large mountain peak that stood hundreds of miles above the world, surrounded by nothing but white clouds, a handsome young man gazed at the westering sun, his eyes calm and collected.
In his hand, which looked as pale and pure as ice, a small silver bracelet rested, glistening with a silver glow from time to time whenever the beautiful rays of lights of the descending sun fell on it.
His long silver hair danced gently in the approaching evening breeze while the sleeves of his golden robe fluttered quietly, giving him a somewhat divine aura.
Time passed in silence. The young man just sat motionlessly in one place and stared into the horizon, completely lost in his thoughts when suddenly an eternal figure, one that was so beautiful that words could hardly describe it appeared seemingly out of nowhere, remaining standing just a single foot away from him.
"Just how long are you planning to hold onto that useless trash, Cal?"
The calm look on Cal’s face seemed to rescind and turn into a small smile when he heard the voice of the young woman, and without shifting his gaze away from the scenery that presented itself before him, he spoke;
"Maybe it has become useless trash, but it is more of a relic for me. Something that keeps me remembering what I... What we all have gone through in the past. Throwing it away would be akin to erasing my memories from that time."
After saying those words, Cal finally broke his gaze away from the scenery in front of him, and looking at the young woman beside him, he asked, "Don’t you think the same, Nova?"
The young woman, with long white hair, rolled her beautiful azure blue eyes as a response before she crossed her arms just below her full bosom and raised a brow, "I don’t think this is the right time for you to ask questions like that. Your wife is currently struggling to give birth to your fifth child and yet, here you are, weighing on things that don’t even matter any longer."
Cal pondered silently, and after a few seconds he nodded and stood up.
"You are right. Ever since we have closed the Realm Portal the Gifted didn’t decide to bother this world any longer. Maybe they have gotten bored with us, that’s why."
"Yeah, possibly. That is why it is pointless to keep that thing with you, it is better to forget about it. Just throw that thing away already and go back to Nancy, or don’t blame me if she decides to beat you up afterward for not being there when the child is born. After all, you are the father, it’s your responsibility for being there." Nova said, her eyes narrowed at Cal rather scarily.
Despite the scary eyes and warning words from Nova, Cal just smiled and after glancing at the bracelet he sighed softly and placed it into his pocket.
"You right, we should not make her wait any longer." Cal said calmly, and with a gentle wave of his sleeve, he vanished into thin air, leaving behind nothing but his lingering presence.
The End.
