Chapter 1320: Chapter 65: Lofty Mountains and Ridges (Part 9)
Time seemed to completely freeze in that instant.
People stared, utterly entranced, at the White Mecha standing before Anubis, the tip of the ion light saber in its hand still embedded in the canopy of Anubis’s cockpit. Its charge had only taken the blink of an eye, yet in that instant, the Mecha skills it displayed had already made those Jiepeng Level 9 Mecha Warriors who tried to stop it look laughably idiotic.
Those Jiepeng Mecha Warriors each used a single Advanced Skill, while this Mech Knight unleashed five moves at once. No prior setup, yet he struck first though moving later. Among the five moves, some were kicks, some were punches, some were fierce, some were soft; taken separately, each might only be stunning, but combined, they gave off an unparalleled domineering force.
The five Jiepeng Mecha were knocked flying, tumbling back in utter disgrace as they crashed into the Jiepeng Mecha Group.
Right now, the ion light saber of the White Mecha was resting on the already-cracked canopy. As long as he gave a gentle thrust, that Commander would be cleaved in two.
As if afraid of hurting their own, the surrounding Jiepeng Mecha all halted. The Red Mecha Group in the heavy encirclement also stopped, bunching up together.
Fighters were weaving through the sky, and the Transport Ships were slowly descending amid a dead silence.
"You lost." Fatty’s voice was thick with smug satisfaction.
"No, you lost." Vego’s cold voice sounded on Fatty’s left.
Fatty froze, and the ion light saber in his hand twisted. The already shattered canopy was pried open, revealing a Jiepeng Captain staring blankly ahead.
"Surrender," Vego glanced at the Transport Ships slowly descending from the sky, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Relax, I’m not going to kill you now. Besides, other than you, no one else’s life is worth my entire Armored Division. Those Transport Ships can land; my troops and I need transportation."
"How did you know I would use this tactic?" Fatty’s voice was filled with unwillingness and despair.
"These past few days, you’ve already tried several times to sneak attack and kill me. It’s just that every time you saw the timing was off, you pulled back early enough that your intent didn’t really show," Vego said calmly. "I know I’ve got almost no chance of beating you head-on, so I figured it was better to be cautious in everything. After all, I’m a Commander, and you’re nothing but a brute who charges at the front lines."
"Why are you hunting me down?" Fatty struggled to say. "You were willing to drag your entire unit into a dead end just to kill me, so why do you want to leave now?"
"I have my reasons for killing you," Vego’s icy voice carried a hideous undertone. "As for why I want to leave, there are three reasons. First, you’re already in my hands. I can take your life anytime I want; once a Mecha loses its speed, it’s a fish in a barrel. Second, I think these Mecha of yours and your Mechanical Control skills are extremely important to the Western Alliance. Also, I’ve read your file—I know you have a unit under you called the bandit army. This might be my chance to atone for my mistakes. Third..."
Vego looked at the falling Chuckna Mecha raining down from the sky and said bluntly, "The Second Armored Division may be my unit, but this battle was entirely my own decision. As their Commander, I’m actually very afraid they’ll mutiny. After all, everyone only has one life. These three days, the psychological pressure on them has been enormous. If I kill you now, we’ll definitely be annihilated. No one wants that."
The ion light saber in the hand of the White Mecha fell to the ground.
With a sizzle, the cockpit opened, and the bare-chested Fatty jumped out with his hands raised. The moment he landed he spun in place, shouting in panic, "I surrender, I surrender, don’t kill me. Even if you kill me, you won’t get away. I’ve got a lot of military secrets, I still have fleets and armored units. As long as you don’t kill me, all of that is yours."
After carefully confirming Fatty’s identity, and seeing him firmly subdued by several Jiepeng Soldiers who had rushed up, Vego opened the cockpit of the Spirit Cat Mecha and leaped out.
He strode up to Fatty, whose arms were wrenched behind his back, and suddenly slapped him hard across the face.
All the regret, all the anger, all the negative emotions that had coiled inside him like venomous snakes over these days burst forth at that moment like a breached flood, impossible to contain.
The entire world fell deathly silent.
The frontline command post, the Allied Command Center, and all the civilians in front of their televisions stared blankly at Fatty’s swollen, trembling, terrified face—with a hint of ingratiating flattery on it.
Suddenly, a voice cried out in tears.
"Don’t kill my dad, don’t hit my dad..."
The canopy of a Mecha popped open, and a cute little boy stumbled out, squeezing through the forest of Mecha legs to rush in front of Fatty. He broke into loud, heart‑wrenching sobs.
