Chapter 46: I’d Drop THAT Body... For You

[KATYA]

Kata woke up to a pair of angry eyes glaring daggers at him.

He wasn’t sure how long he had passed out, but the memory of what he had done came back to him along with the shame of what he had become within the Moskowsky household.

It horrified him to the core, and as he stared at the pair of eyes, he knew he was fucked.

"You’re awake. Good," Katya heard as he tried to close his eyes and pretend that the whole day hadn’t happened, like he hadn’t made a fool of himself in front of Sergei Moskowsky.

He looked at Anya, who was standing at the corner, her eyes blank, like she couldn’t believe she had been roped into this shit. This was the kind of disappointment that Katya would definitely pay for at a later time.

And Katya felt his heart shatter with so many questions.

Was he going to be killed this time?

Was this the end of the road for him?

He was doing a good job spiraling until the pair of angry eyes hovered over him, demanding his attention. This person was not ready to let him breathe even a little.

And Katya knew there was never going to be a way out of this.

"Yes, yes. It is me, Romanov. First, I am glad you are alive, because then I get to kill you myself for being stupid. Secondly, WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?!!!" the angry eyes screeched at Katya.

The omega tried to sit up, but he was trapped.

This was the result of his choices, and worriedly, he turned to look at Anya, who was just staring, her expression still the same.

"Eyes on me, Romanov. I am the one on top of you," the angry eyes insisted, and Katya couldn’t help but let out an exaggerated sigh.

He turned to his side and saw a pair of familiar warm eyes looking at him with sadness and pity.

But he could also see the anger in them.

The disappointment that came from what Katya had done, and honestly, Katya couldn’t even blame them.

"Andre... help me," Katya mouthed to his warm eyes, who was seated like every normal person.

"Nuh-uh. Look at me. Not him. He will encourage your stupidity, I won’t," the angry eyes above him said, and Katya knew he was never going to get out of this with ease. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"Svet... not... not now," Katya said as he looked to the side at Anya.

And Katya was sure she was trying to figure out if he was useful enough to keep the contract or if they could just go and repossess that heart and make things better for themselves while they found someone else to play marriage games with.

"That’s Svetlana to you, and don’t even think of giving me the going-to-work argument. Moskowsky holdings can do without you for a day.

"Fuck, they were doing fine before they forced you into their shit," Svetlana, or as her friends called her, Svet, said, not even bothering to turn to look at Anya.

Katya was stressed.

Hell, he had every right to be.

Svetlana was a walking mess of anger issues and tempers that couldn’t be tamed by anything.

She was crazy in every sense, and if they were to count the number of times that Svet had played Russian roulette on herself with the Moskowsky guards, they would all be locked up in a mental hospital just for associating with this bundle of crazy.

"Svet... she can hear you," Andre said, smiling apologetically at Anya, while Katya was a nervous wreck beneath Svetlana.

The crazy girl had hovered over him on his bed, and it wasn’t exactly the kind of shit that a Moskowsky would appreciate.

Perhaps that was why Anya was here.

Though Katya knew that once his friends were gone, he would be in deep trouble.

"What is she going to do anyway? Lock Romanov up again? Scare the shit out of an omega who didn’t even get the chance to grieve his baby? Please. We are all going to die, even the Moskowsky’s eventually will.

"...so spare me, besides, I don’t mind dying first, as long as I get to take that barbaric bastard with me," Svetlana raged on like she was so done with the Moskowsky bullshit and the way they were costing her friends a chance at happiness.

Anya flinched momentarily at her statement.

And Katya...

He saw it.

The way the cold woman had fisted her hands, and her mask had slipped off just for a moment.

But then, just like he had seen it, it was gone.

And Svetlana was still running her mouth.

Still raving about how the Moskowskys were the most inconsiderate of all creation and how Sergei was no better than the stupid son who had disturbed the first thing about life and sanity.

Someone needed to shut Svetlana up.

Quick.

"Svet, calm down... you’re going to get us in trouble," Andre tried to argue as he tried to pull Svetlana from over Katya, to give the omega some space, but Svetlana was adamant about her position.

If Katya didn’t know any better, he would’ve assumed that his crazy friend was trying to keep him blocked from seeing Anya’s cold face or even seeing whatever reaction in Anya’s face.

And Katya facepalmed at the madness he had for friends.

Oh, he was definitely in trouble now.

Who had even let them in as his friends in?

Didn’t the guards know these two were unhinged together?

If not Andre... then Svetlana perhaps?

"Romanov didn’t answer me, Andre," Svetlana pointed out casually, as if she hadn’t already raised the chaos meter in the room by a thousand and one percent.

Or even that there was now a very high chance that what would probably be trapped in this house for the longest time.

"Katya... did... Did he force himself on you? Was that why you were bleeding? Why you tried to..." Andre asked in disgust, unable to complete the sentence.

He knew his friend had suffered so much, but today was hectic.

Today had to have pushed Katya over the edge, because Katya had never been suicidal.

Katya had never been that defeated.

Only the Moskowskys had triggered him to do that, and Svet was right to be skeptical.

Svet had always been the one who fought for them.

"Andre, no," Katya said a bit sharply.

Anya raised a brow at that.

It was like she wasn’t expecting Katya, of all the people, to defend Sergei.

Katya’s defense clearly didn’t sit well with Svetlana, because she knew the kind of pain that Katya was going through right now.

"You’re defending him already? What the fuck, Romanov?" Svetlana said, angry, still not getting off from Katya.

"I’m not... I just... I panicked, okay. I thought he was going to kill me, and I panicked. I didn’t intend to pop that many pills. I swear I just wanted two to steady myself... but Sergei... he was so close, and I couldn’t think.

"So, I... I popped them all. He didn’t touch me, I promise. He didn’t," Katya said.

Andre visibly sighed.

Svetlana, on the other hand, was glad, but didn’t appreciate her friend being cornered.

"Should I kill him for you?" Svet offered sincerely, and a fit of coughs erupted in the room.

Still, Anya had remained stoic.

"Besides, I doubt he’d ever look at me like that," Katya added quietly.

And Anya...

"The guest room down the hall has enough space for three people," Anya said, before she left the room.
