Chapter 214: Between the Heavens and the Stars
[FROLO]
[FLASHBACK, Two years ago, Aslava Hospital, private wing]
Anyone who walked in at the moment could only ever see a husband doting on his hurting husband. Could only see a desperate husband wishing his omega a quick recovery so they could go home.
It was a beautiful sight from a distance.
Heartwarming even.
Yet Katya had to hold it all down. Keep himself steady as his husband ripped his already shattered heart to pieces without caring what this would mean for both of them.
"No... You ... You can’t," Katya whimpered in defeat.
His eyes were already swollen from crying too much before and sleeping too long.
He was crying again.
Because of the same man.
Because of the man who broke his promise and didn’t even seem bothered.
"They will believe me. I’m Yaroslav Gamov. I have the money; you don’t. My influence could tear you and your family down. Your dearest mother will probably be dead by the time the first article comes out.

"Your father will hate you for not being faithful and costing him his mate. Then you will be left completely and utterly alone. No man will want you. Anyone who will still want you even then will only want a piece of what Yaroslav Gamov had.
"... Not because they will love you. No one wants an omega who can’t bear children. So, think about it, honey. I’m doing this for your own good, hmm?" Yaroslav said smoothly.
Katya was shutting down, and Yaroslav was watching with false amusement clear in his eyes. Like this was the one thing he knew would shatter Katya the most.
He had no mercy on the omega, kept ranting even after Katya’s eyes closed involuntarily, even after the beeping got so loud that footsteps could be heard coming in their direction.
Yaroslav didn’t stop, only leaning his head against Katya’s in what could be seen as a loving gesture, holding Katya’s hands as he pressed the button to call for the nurses.
"If you die, Milan and I will get married. She will give me beautiful children. So, die. But if you don’t, I’ll continue sleeping with her," Yaroslav said sinisterly.
Katya’s eyes opened weakly to stare into the eyes that were so close. The eyes that had always held love and warmth for him. Now there was nothing in them.
Just resentment.
And Katya wondered how long this had built up.
"You’re awake. Good. Because you managed to get the nurses heading in this direction, and I don’t want them to think I did whatever the fuck is happening to you. You will be a good husband.
"Say nothing. Do nothing. And most importantly, you will kiss me. You must kiss me, before I change my mind," Yaroslav commanded like Katya were his subordinate.
Katya, too weak to even move, still struggled to push him away one more time.
"You’ll never win against me, honey. Never," Yaroslav said, slamming his lips forcefully against Katya’s. He didn’t care that the monitors were going off. Or even that Katya had given in to the darkness and fallen unconscious again.
He didn’t stop.
Not even when the doors opened.
Not when the nurses rushed in.
He didn’t see who had walked in with the nurses. Just assumed it was another doctor whose silence he could buy. Wasn’t that hard anyway. He was Yaroslav Gamov after all, right?
But could he really?
Well, he would have to think about that later, because the next thing he saw after the nurses was darkness, as the sound of his bones crushing against the concrete wall.
"You shouldn’t have touched him," a voice said.
And then...
A dark chuckle followed.
His father had arrived.
"No one touches him... and lives," Sergei said before he began punching Yaroslav’s face against the wall. He pulled his gun out and began hitting Yaroslav with the handle, as if that would make this any easier.

It didn’t.
Because his father had taught him to respect bonds. To never lay a hand on his beloved. And if he were to sever a bond so intimate, Sergei had always told him to talk shit out. Because relationships either worked or didn’t work.
But hurting someone he was in a relationship with was a line that his father would never forgive.
He had been taught that for years.
So Yaro understood his father’s disappointment.
"F... Father ... Wait," Yaroslav pleaded, but Sergei wasn’t listening.
He was irrational. Too fueled by rage to even think. He beat Yaroslav up like a man who had caught his worst enemy. And Yaro took it, because at least now he would feel some painlike his omega was feeling.
"Hey. Hey, look at me," Sergei growled as he snapped his son’s head, gripping his jaw tightly and forcefully turning Yaroslav’s face to him.
Yaroslav winced in so much pain. He had been beaten black and blue by someone he called father, and yet that didn’t seem enough for Sergei.
And when Yaroslav fell unconscious, unable to keep up with his father’s relentless punches, his body slumping on the floor, his father shot him awake.
The gunshot tore through the room as Sergei fired into his son’s thigh. It was a flesh wound, but the shot didn’t stay quiet.
It was loud. Too loud.
Everyone heard it. Everyone who was in the room saw it.
And Yaroslav knew then that his father was disappointed in him.
"Wake the fuck up and listen to me, Yaroslav," Sergei said cruelly, pressing his thumb into the bullet wound.
"What... What the fuck, father!!" Yaroslav cried out in pain. It was too much for him to bear. Too much for anyone to even bear watching.
Hospitals were not places for such brutality, and yet no one in their right mind would ever be able to stop Sergei anywhere. Much less here when he was still raging like a beast.
"You’re awake. Good. Now, I need you to listen very carefully to me, Yaroslav," Sergei said, and Yaroslav forced himself to look at his father.
It was a sight that no one had anticipated at all.
Yaroslav, all bloody.
Sergei, all bloody.
Nothing made sense. At least for most in the room.
"You fucking shot me!" Yaroslav groaned angrily.
"Yes," Sergei said coldly, unapologetically.
"The fuck for?!" Yaroslav screeched.

"You’re never to touch or see him again. Or I’ll put a bullet in you for every hour he’s been in here," Sergei warned calmly, his knuckles bleeding from punching his son one too many times.
"He’s my husband," Yaroslav tried to argue, but he was too weak.
Too beat up.
He looked like he had been run over, like someone had mugged him, and yet it had been his own father.
The man who was sworn to love and protect him.
But frankly, even he knew that it would never be enough if his father knew what he had done to Katya over the years with Milan.
"Don’t test my patience, kid. Here’s a preview of what you’ll deal with if you see him again," Sergei warned one last time, before he shot Yaroslav’s ear, tearing the skin crisply.
"Fuckk!!" Yaroslav cried out, holding his ear desperately while his father still pressed on the wound on his thigh.
"I won’t say it again, Yaro. Stay away from him, or I will riddle you with bullets myself," Sergei added.
"Consider this a warning," Sergei said before he took out his knife and cut the ear clean. Then, he handed the ear to his son, pressing it in the beta’s palm.
Before Yaroslav could get over his shock, Sergei slammed the beta’s head one more time against the wall, knocking him unconscious and leaving him bleeding.
The next thing Yaro remembered was waking up at a different hospital with Anya coming in carrying divorce papers.
