Chapter 191: Hello, My Alien, We Are Each Other’s Mystery

[SERGEI]

Sergei stared at his Solnyshka in the hallway. He wasn’t sure what to say for the first time in a long time. Because the one person he was running away from was here now.

He couldn’t run.

Not if he wanted to anyway.

And not without being any more ridiculous than he already was, standing there with a package in one hand, his coat on the other like a runaway boss.

Was that what he was right now?

"Someone please kill me," Sergei groaned when he saw the knowing smile on Katya’s face.

He was never going to survive any of this.

He was doomed.

It was that simple.

"H... Hi," the big bad alpha who terrified the masses said hoarsely, his shoulder slumped in defeat like a man who had just realized running away was never going to do him any good.

Perhaps there would be a better way out of this.

But what else was there when his Solnyshka was staring at him, amusement all over his face like the alpha couldn’t get any more ridiculous.

"You ate lunch," Katya said as he walked toward Sergei.

The alpha stared, eyes wide open. You would think that Katya Romanov was the most dangerous person to him. Well, was it that hard to assume at this point anyway?

Sergei wanted to disappear.

Behind him, the alpha heard the clicking sound of a camera. His darn secretary was having a blast, too.

As if that wasn’t enough, Rahim walked by with a knowing smile on her face like the alpha embarrassment had been their source of entertainment.

The door to Anya’s office opened, and Sergei could already hear the mockery coming.

Yeah, he would never get out of this.

"I..." Sergei tried off like he finally malfunctioned.

"Come with me?" Katya offered, taking the alpha’s coat from his right arm and extending his hand to the alpha, who was just standing there awkwardly.

Sergei didn’t say a word.

Just stared as Katya pulled him gently by his hand and walked them both to his office. It didn’t help that Rahim was smirking at the door like she knew what the alpha had done.

Head down, Sergei followed Katya like a puppy. It was a strange sight to everyone on the executive floor, but one they would never forget, judging by the snickers that Sergei heard the moment the door to Katya’s office shut behind them.

"Did you open it?" Katya asked with a smile on his face as he stared at the malfunctioned alpha.

"What?" Sergei asked.

Katya stared at him softly.

"It was nice... The update," Katya said while Sergei looked at him like he was hoping the ground could open and swallow him whole.

He had managed to make a fool of himself in front of his thousands of employees. This was madness.

"We should do that more often," Katya added when the big bad alpha didn’t say anything else.

And in that moment, Sergei’s eyes brightened like he had been given the best of ideas.

"You might want to stay away from the forum for a while. Try using your phone for the updates?" Katya suggested.

Sergei chuckled softly. He was all giddy being this close to his crush and in the one office that had restrained citrus.

Didn’t matter, though.

Sergei knew Katya’s scent by heart.

He could even smell it now, despite the latch that was on Katya.

"Phone?" Sergei asked if he wanted to be sure.

"Yes. Not emails though... You know how to send texts, right?" Katya teased, and Sergei ran a hand down his face in embarrassment again. He was never going to forget this day.

Well, at least he had his crush telling him they could chat frequently. That was quite the turn of events for a day that should have been ruined for Sergei.

"How frequently?" Sergei asked like he was already making a mental note of the times he was allowed to reach out to Katya.

"As often as you want to. Anytime too. I won’t mind," Katya said, and Sergei stiffened.

Anytime.

As often as he wanted to.

He was getting unrestricted access to Katya.

Gods, that was the most dangerous thing that had ever come out of those full, plump lips other than the day he had told Sergei he trusted Sergei.

This was something else altogether, and Sergei had to will himself to function again. He had to think fast because damn, this was something else altogether.

"Are you sure? I mean... You have a boyfriend now..." Sergei said he was trying to be a proper man. He really was, but fuck, it was starting to be a bit hard for him so close to Katya.

The omega was sailing in very dangerous waters, and all he had was a soft smile on his face that had Sergei feeling like the room was burning.

Gods, Sergei was fucked.

"Yes. But you’re my friend. He knows that," Katya stated calmly.

Sergei broke into a fit of coughs for a whole minute.

"You okay?" Katya sked worriedly as he grabbed the water bottle on his desk and gave it to Sergei, who was too shocked to even take it.

"I’m sorry, WHAT??" Sergei screeched like he had just discovered the twelve ways into hell and how he had screwed up in all those directions.

What the hell was Katya Romanov doing to him?

Hell, why the fuck was Katya Romanov doing this to him?

"Did I read it all wrong? I... I thought you were having lunch with me because we’re friends. And well, I had to tell Alek why ALL my lunches were blocked and busy," Katya said, like he was telling Sergei that the color of the sky was blue.

Oh, but he definitely didn’t know what he was doing to this man.

Eighteen months ago, Katya Romanov would have been shaking worse than a leaf on a windy day if he had a meeting with Sergei. Yet now he was here, trusting seeing in his space and worse, calling the man his fine life was just that simple.

Had there been a few memos lost along the way?

Had Sergei been too busy trying to die to even think of what could have happened along the way?

"We’re friends?" Sergei asked, his voice low, the disbelief and distrust in that statement something that he wasn’t sure made any sense.

Sergei Moskowsky never had friends.

Acquaintances, sure.

People who became family, sure.

But friends?

That was such a new concept that it had Sergei’s mind spiraling worse than the admission that Katya had blocked his lunches because he was always eating lunch with Sergei.

It was a simple admission that Sergei was already thinking of proposing to Katya on both knees.

Maybe his Solnyshka would love a diamond ring?

Gold maybe?

The entire world at his feet?

Sergei would give it all for this omega, without question.

Did Katya know how much he was affecting this man with his simple, mundane words?

Oh, but Sergei couldn’t think straight.

Maybe the ground should have opened and swallowed him a whole ten minutes ago and saved him from his heart beating like it was trying to break out of his chest for feeling too much.

This wasn’t rational.

But fuck.

"Don’t worry, Alek doesn’t mind. I told him I trust you, so he trusts you too," Katya added quietly before he looked at Sergei, the sincerity in them having Sergei ready to give his life for his omega.

Oh, Katya Romanov was playing with fire.

Did he know, though?
