Chapter 1018: Chapter 523: Extra: Last Night, What Was That? (Part 2)

"What kind of person I am is none of your business, but even someone like me won’t let my daughter suffer one bit!!"

With tear-stained eyes, Alice turned and ran out of the room.

She ran all the way back to her room, tightly covering her mouth to stop herself from sobbing.

She leaned weakly against the door panel, her tears like a flood breaking its banks...

"Daddy..."

She called out helplessly to her father, longing desperately for him to be by her side at this moment, to comfort and care for her.

She’s spoiled, arrogant, and unreasonable—what does it have to do with him?

What right does he have to judge her? What right?

Even if she truly has nothing, she will not hand over custody of her daughter to him, because he doesn’t love the child at all; he’s merely doing it out of obligation...

Though she, Alice, may have many flaws he mentioned, she at least knows she isn’t wrong about one thing, and that is loving her own child...

So he better not think about taking the child away!!

Keith Antony saw Alice running back to her room in tears.

"Boss, Miss Alice seems very upset... isn’t this too cruel to her?"

As Keith Antony said this, Chester Robinson was having breakfast, still calmly slicing the food on his plate, replying lightly, "I have my own discretion."

Keith Antony murmured softly, "Actually, Miss Alice has been by your side taking care of you while you were in a coma... I’ve seen how much she’s changed in the past two years; she’s not the same pampered, stuck-up princess she used to be."

"You seem to enjoy speaking up for her lately." Chester Robinson said indifferently, placing the food into his mouth, chewing elegantly.

Keith Antony quickly lowered his head, fearful, "I wouldn’t dare, I just speak the truth. Actually, Miss Alice doesn’t have any major faults, just a bit of a missy’s temper, but in front of you, she’s always behaved obediently..."

Chester Robinson’s tone remained indifferent, "Does her personality still need you to tell me?"

Keith Antony lowered his head even further.

Chester Robinson spoke softly, "Meeting with a bit of setback and immediately crying, does she think the world revolves around her forever?"

His words were clearly reproachful, yet inexplicably contained a different emotion.

Keith Antony dared not speak further.

Chester Robinson continued his breakfast, and after a while, ordered Keith Antony, "Go upstairs and check on her."

"Yes."

On the second floor.

Alice was helping Rachel, who had just woken up, get dressed.

Rachel was always the most lively in the mornings, bouncing up and down on Alice’s bed at the moment...

Apart from her red-rimmed eyes, Alice’s emotions showed no signs of distress.

Aunt PA stood by the bed assisting Alice, saying, "Miss, you should go downstairs and have breakfast with Mr. Chester; I’ll dress Rachel..."

Alice replied calmly, "I’m not hungry." As she spoke, she lifted Rachel onto her lap and dressed her in pants.

Aunt PA furrowed her brow with worry, "Miss, did you have an argument with Mr. Chester? You’ve never been so distant before."

"Aunt PA, this time my brother is only staying for a night or two, he’ll leave in a couple of days."

"Isn’t he back to help you?" Aunt PA asked, puzzled.

Alice responded lightly, "I’ve told you, since dad passed away there’s been some disputes, and we’re no longer siblings. In the future, he’ll walk his sunny road, and I’ll walk my lonely path; we’re indifferent to each other." Alice always used this excuse to brush off the household staff, explaining Chester’s disinterest in the Robinson family.

"Miss, you and Mr. Chester were so close before, and he was very fond of you. How could it be that a mere dispute led to this indifference?" Aunt PA expressed her concern.

"Don’t say anything more, Aunt PA. Take Rachel to wash up, and I’ll change clothes to take her for breakfast."

"Alright!"

As Aunt PA carried Rachel off to freshen up, Keith Antony arrived.

Alice opened the door and saw it was Keith Antony, smiling slightly.

Keith Antony said, "Miss Alice, the boss wants me to call you downstairs to have breakfast."

Alice smiled and shook her head, "You’re tricking me again." He’s unlikely to dine at the same table with her, as he dislikes her.

Keith Antony chuckled along, "The boss asked me to check on you."

Alice took a deep breath, "I’m fine." She doesn’t need his crocodile ’fake compassion.’

Keith Antony noticed Alice’s eyes were still swollen, but her emotions had been adjusted so well that no trace of distress was visible.

She had learned to be strong.

Keith Antony sighed lightly, "Miss Alice, the boss still cares about you... I told him you had matters in France, and he immediately flew over from T City, even when he’s got a lot of ’QCS’ and hospital matters to handle."

Alice scoffed, "He’s eager to use this opportunity to threaten me, huh?"

Keith Antony shook his head in confusion, indicating he didn’t understand.

Alice’s smile turned cold, "He said he would help me, as long as I hand over Rachel’s custody, then he can help preserve the Robinson family estate."

Keith Antony’s eyes widened in shock.

Alice squinted her eyes, dripping with sarcasm, "Do you still think he cares about me now?"

Keith Antony wasn’t sure what to say, falling silent.

Alice said, "Sorry, Assistant Antony, I need to change clothes and prepare to go to the law firm, let’s not discuss this further."

"Okay."

When Alice went to the law firm, she took Rachel with her.

Clearly, she worried Chester would take Rachel away when she was out; even though Chester wouldn’t do that.

In legal terms, Chester has no relationship with Rachel, he has no right to take her away, Chester knows this well, and has never forcibly taken Rachel.

He’s been waiting for the chance for Alice to voluntarily surrender custody of the child, and this time offered the best opportunity.

"Boss, heading back to New York now?"

Carrying this seat, Keith Antony cautiously inquired from the passenger seat to Chester Robinson in the back seat.

Chester Robinson was resting his eyes, "Yes."

"Not waiting for Miss Alice to make her decision?"
