Chapter 1016: Chapter 522: Extra: He Looked Down on Her That Much (2)
"I thought the conversation wasn’t over yet."
"I’m not in the mood right now." Alice’s voice gradually choked.
Chester extinguished his cigarette, got up, and walked toward her.
She could hear his footsteps, still familiar like the "big brother" she used to know, but the aura of arrogance and indifference he exuded made him seem so unfamiliar.
He stopped in front of her, slightly lowered his head, and looked directly at her.
She was most afraid of being stared at like this when she felt wronged, so her pretense of strength crumbled instantly, and tears started to fall.
Yet, she cared about appearances, always maintaining that pride in front of him, and couldn’t let him see her crying.
She turned her head to the side, trying her best to suppress the choke in her throat, refusing to sob aloud.
He looked at her, inexplicably irritated, "Why are you crying?"
She retained her usual arrogance, sniffed, and said, "I’m not crying."
He turned her face back, clearly seeing tears slowly slipping from the corner of her eyes down her cheeks.
She rarely cried... because no one dared to make her cry in the past.
Her status in the Robinson family was unassailable. Before he "returned" to the Robinsons, she was dearly loved by David Robinson. Even after he returned, David’s love for her did not diminish, and he gave her extreme affection as well...
She was always a cherished treasure, held dearly and protected from any harm, even by him. In the past, he didn’t dare make her cry easily, except for those few times she was heartbroken over Howard Geoffrey. He seldom saw her in tears.
He wiped away the tears from the corner of her eyes with his hand, his thin lips letting out, "Useless."
Yet she still cried, the tears spilling even more copiously.
"It’s not like we haven’t done it before, did I hurt you just now?"
Angry and ashamed, she pushed him away and ran out of the room.
He reached out in time to catch her fleeing body, saying lightly, "Not staying to have a talk?"
With her back to him, she said, "You only know how to bully me."
"If I were really bullying you, would you still be standing in front of me talking?" Releasing her, Chester walked to the room’s wine cabinet and poured a drink for both of them.
Alice turned around, quietly watching him.
He walked toward her with two glasses of red wine. The sight of his bronzed, muscular chest made her cheeks flush, causing her to avert her eyes.
Handing her a glass of wine, he said, "Your favorite Cabernet Sauvignon."
Alice didn’t accept the wine, turning her face aside.
In the past, when she was angry, she’d ignore him, waiting for him to coax her.
However, Chester’s eyes only darkened now.
Alice sensed the coldness in his gaze, slowly turning to look at him.
Chester glanced at her, then at the wine in his hand.
Alice hesitated for a long time, but eventually took the wine he offered.
Chester clinked glasses with her and took a sip, then looked at her.
Already feeling bothered, she had to face him now. Out of spite, she downed her glass of wine in one gulp.
She was someone whose face quickly flushed after drinking. As the wine slid down her throat, her cheeks turned rosy.
He watched her cheeks turn red and smiled.
In the past, he loved sharing a drink with her. After a glass, her flushed face looked adorable.
Alice loved red wine, but her tolerance wasn’t strong. After this glass, she already felt somewhat dizzy.
His arm encircled her waist, close and intimate like before. He led her toward the bed.
Seeing the bed triggered memories of his earlier wildness. Her legs still felt a bit weak, and she feared approaching the bed, stopping about a meter away. She looked up at him, "Can we talk now?"
"Wait."
He moved to lift her.
But she pushed him away strongly, staying far from him after the earlier lesson. "Don’t even think about it..."
He looked at her tense, guarded stance with amusement, saying, "What do you take me for? I only meant to tuck you in... used a lot of energy just now, did you think I still want to..."
"Drop dead." Alice cursed outright.
He continued to smile, sitting leisurely on the bed’s edge, watching her.
Alice finally lost her patience, "Are you going to say it or not, what will it take for you to help me?" She admitted, she couldn’t keep up the tough front with him, especially used to relying on him.
Chester removed his towel and got into bed.
Alice angrily walked over but was unexpectedly pulled into his arms.
Her nose bumped against his firm chest, making her cry out in pain. She punched his chest, "Bastard."
Chester pulled her onto the bed, embracing her from behind, "There’s nothing like sleeping with company. Stay with me tonight!"
"I don’t want to."
"Rachel’s being looked after by the maids."
"Still, no."
He acted as if he didn’t hear her refusals, holding her firmly by the slender waist, closing his eyes.
"Geoff..."
She unconsciously called him by the affectionate name she used in the past.
"Hm." He responded drowsily, clearly still tired from the earlier exertion.
"You still haven’t told me what it’ll take for you to help me?"
"We’ll talk tomorrow."
"Hey..."
She tried to pry his arm off her waist, but even in his sleep, he held her tightly, giving her no chance to escape.
In the end, she stopped struggling, the previous exhaustion combined with the current tiredness lulling her into slumber as well.
The next day.
Alice slept soundly through the night without waking once.
In the past two years, such a good night’s sleep was rare for her. Thus when she woke up, she stretched comfortably, feeling very content.
However, once fully awake, she realized this was not her room.
Suddenly recalling the events of last night, she quickly glanced around.
A tall figure in front of the bathroom caught her eye.
He also appeared to have just woken up, fastening his shirt buttons as he walked into the bathroom.
Unable to call out to him in time, she hurriedly got out of bed and waited for him outside the bathroom door.
Soon, he stepped out of the bathroom.
Her petite figure immediately blocked his path.
He smelled pleasantly clean, having just showered with his masculine body wash.
