Chapter 179: The Final Toll Before Dawn
Weapons are like money; no one knows the meaning of enough.
But for Zane, one was enough. Because he could bring any weapons and merge them into one.
Just like he did just now.
He merged the two Phoenix Cages, the Vellum Razor and the Bedrock Piston and created one weapon.
Which was in his hands right now.
And the first thing he noticed was not its appearance but its weight.
"This is not heavy at all."
He swung it right and left and felt no resistance.
Its length was that of a sword, perfect for a weapon.
Moreover, he could certainly see what the merge did.
The handle of the weapon was metallic and on the head of the weapon were two things.
One side was shaped like a blade of axe and behind the axe was a square shaped metallic board.
The weapon was on the side of red and that only gave it the look of something used to shedding blood.
A small bell was attached to the square side of the weapon and now the bell had a clapper as well.
But for the clapper, it was a red feather.
And that was the only thing Zane could find about the phoenix’s feathers.
The clapper and the color.
[[ Reference Art for the weapon. ]]
But to know more, he waited for the system’s confirmation.
And the confirmation came.
[ Merge Successfull! ]
[ Do you want to see the result? ]
Yes.
Another window appeared with the details.
[ Name: TBD ]
[ Tier: Convergence Tier—A ]
[ Details: Its blade can cut through flesh like clothes. The portion behind the blade can destroy armors. The drawbacks of Vellum Razor and the Bedrock Piston got erased by each other. The Phoenix feathers gave the weapon its light weight and the ability to alter its size. The user can increase or decrease its length and weight on his will. Whenever the user lands a critical blow the bell will ring declaring the user’s victory. ]
[ Note: The weapon might not work against very strong opponents. ]
What’s with the name?
[ You wanted to name it. So... ]
You can do this now?
[ Convergence increased after all. ]
Zane smiled.
Nice. Alright then.
Zane stared at the weapon.
He would name it appropriately. Not like Xavier.
He watched the weapon closely and many things took his attention.
But he went to the part in the details that caught his eyes the most.
The last portion.
I like the bell part. I think I know what to call it.
Zane held it in his right hand and revealed the name.
The Last Toll.
[ Name Registered! ]
The system sealed the name and as it happened, the weapon vibrated on Zane’s hand.
Is it alive?
[ It may be. ]
You can’t tell?
[ Not really. ]
Zane stared at the weapon and then he gave up.
Whatever, I think it liked the name. That’s all that matters.
The system said nothing and Zane admired the Last Toll.
Wait. While we are naming. Let’s name one more thing.
[ What? ]
Zane smiled.
My Legion.
[ About time. ]
Zane went into thinking again but this time, he didn’t use too many minutes.
I know what to name. Xavier helped me with that.
The system didn’t ask anything and Zane wasn’t waiting for it anyway.
He straight out revealed the name of his Legion.
The Fallen Filths.
[ Ding! ]
[ Name Registered! ]
The system made the announcement.
Zane nodded.
He was satisfied with things for now.
It was Xavier who called Zane a fallen filth when he had thrown him towards the Emberlord.
Zane remembered that and he really liked the phrase.
The system remained silent and Zane focused on the other work he had come to do in the bathroom.
To take a bath.
But before that, he needed to store his weapon.
So he stored it inside his ring.
But he stopped at the last second.
It’s the best time to test its size.
The corner of his lips curled up as he stared at the weapon with intent.
Become small. Small. Small.
He constantly repeated the same thing as he believed that was how it worked.
And he was right.
SHUP!
The weapon shrinked.
Shrinked enough to fit inside his pocket.
The same size as a baton.
Wait. Baton?
Zane frowned and then he shivered.
I don’t want to do anything with batons anymore.
He suddenly remembered the thief and what he wanted to do with the baton.
He reverted his weapon to its original size and stored it inside his ring.
Now his hands were free.
He removed his clothes and emptied the bucket he filled in the bathtub.
Then he filled another bucket and poured its water on the tub again.
There were taps around the bathtub but he didn’t know the system. His brain only thought of filling the bathtub with buckets one by one. Not by opening the taps that were around the tub to fill it faster.
He didn’t want to break or damage Xavier’s bathroom.
Eventually, he filled the bathtub to the top and finally went inside it.
"Hah! I can spend my whole life here."
He closed his eyes and like Hena, he would also take his time cleaning himself.
But the next second, he remembered he had a deadline for finding the relic so his mood of relaxation vanished.
After thirty minutes, Zane came out of the bathroom.
He wore the same clothes as before, the one he got from the Cathedral.
Though, he sure didn’t know why the Cathedral gave black clothes. They should have given yellow or orange considering they prayed to the sun.
Must be another one of their discrimination.
Zane shook his head and went to the basement again.
He looked around and everyone was having a good time.
They were also eating some sandwiches.
Draxus and Hena were distributing them.
So they brought food while I was away. Good thinking. Because of the Wardens and weapons, I forgot about the food.
"Take one too." Draxus came to him.
Zane refused.
"No."
Draxus shrugged and went to the others.
CLAP!
Zane clapped his hands.
All heads turned to him.
Zane went behind the table again, standing in front of all of them.
"Everyone, I am afraid the good times are over."
He placed his palms on the table and leaned forward.
"We will now find Horum."
