Chapter 164: The Door Opened Inward

While we stop to think, we often miss our opportunity.

The Wardens fought among themselves about who would share Zane’s information and when it was decided, it was already too late.

Gorim called Leon but instead of excitement, the other side replied with annoyance.

Leon had already known about it.

Before Gorim could make the call, some other Warden used the time and informed Leon about Zane.

The rewards and credit would be taken by that Warden and the best part, no one knew who it was.

Naturally, Gorim was angry as with veins popping on his neck, he roared:

"Which bastard shared the information!?"

But if the man who was smart enough to share the information before others, he would also be smart enough to know when to stay silent.

All the wardens looked at each other with suspicion and not one person had the face of a guilty person.

"Heh." Bilder laughed.

He shook his head and stored the crystal back under his armor.

"There is no point now. It will remain a secret forever. Unless we keep an eye on everyone present here which is not possible. The man who did it would wait for us to give up and then he would go to take his rewards."

Gorim’s jaw tightened.

He clenched his fist but stopped as couldn’t afford to break the crystal.

Eventually, he also let it go.

He stored the crystal under his armor and went inside the mansion.

"Let’s clean this. It’s already afternoon."

The other wardens nodded and entered the mansion as well.

They began the cleaning and restoring to the best of their abilities.

Between the five hundred wardens and Zane Atlas, only two men won.

Zane and that one man who would reap the benefits of sharing the information.

———

While the wardens were busy restoring the mansion, Zane walked with Xavier, Hena, Draxus and Jammy to the Fang Carts.

That was the name of the shop selling weapons.

Hena told them about it.

It was near the Citadel.

It was risky to go there but she said that was the best place to buy weapons from in the Veyndral city.

Jammy also agreed with that so with no other choice, Zane chose the shop.

He wanted the best weapons after all.

They had covered their faces again but this time not their full face.

They only covered their mouths.

Xavier had given them another scarves and Hena trimmed them with her sword.

They walked normally on the side of the road and as they were busy talking, Jammy shared something valuable.

"I found out that there is no rise in corruption in Grey Bloom. Now we can be sure that Horum was lying."

"How did you find that out?"

"I asked around when I went to buy a lighter."

Zane nodded.

Now he knew which direction they should think about.

But the weapons came first.

And before the weapons, something else came first.

The others were busy talking and Zane used this time to check out the changes his system had.

How did the convergence increased?

He asked the first question and the system wasted no time.

[ I am not entirely sure but it could be because of that space you visited. You saw the slab and since Conflux came out of it, may be that’s why your convergence increased. ]

Zane frowned.

Why do you talk in third person? You always say Conflux. Not I. Are you and Conflux different?

The system gave no answer.

Zane gulped.

Now I have one more worry to think about.

He shook his head.

Why have you vanished inside that space after a while?

[ Because of the sudden increase in Convergence and Vessel status. Do you feel any changes? ]

Zane examined his fist.

He opened and closed them and nodded.

I think so. I feel... more ready now. But forget that, what were those images? Do you have any ideas? The sun sat on a throne. The three eyed monster. The baby. The moons. All of them were glaring at me.

[ If you went to that space because of your key, then do you remember what its original name was? ]

Zane thought about it and then his brows shot up.

The Memory Key.

[ Yes. Maybe those images were nothing but memories? ]

But whose?

[ I don’t know. ]

Zane stroked his chin.

He recalled the three eyed monster.

The third eye was vertical in the center of its forehead and Zane shivered remembering how all three eyes gawked at him.

Alright. Forget it. Show me the information about this ring.

The system obliged and a window appeared in front of Zane.

[ Name: Key Of Oblivion ]

[ Tier: Convergence Tier — A (Current) ]

[ Type: Tool/Catalyst/Object ]

[ Properties:- 4 ]

[ 1. Inventory: Can contain anything inside it. ]

[ 2. Infiltration: Can open any locks in a second. The locks that are magically protected would take time to be opened. ]

[ 3. Last Resort: It can act on its own to make the user appear inside itself and see the stored memories. This property acts when the user has nowhere to go but still tries to open a door. ]

[ 4. Owned Space: The user can store things inside and after the merge, the space is alive. ]

[[ Warning from Conflux: Don’t use it often until you can handle the locks it will open. ]]

Zane finished reading.

Not only the third property was clear now, another property had been added.

Its tier rose to A from D. But forget that, I have a theory now.

The system said nothing and Zane presented his idea.

When I was trapped, I opened the mansion’s door. I was going to hide inside it but I knew there was no point in that. I would have been caught anyway. So this also means that at that time, I had nowhere to go but I still opened the door to go inside.

[ And that’s why you arrived in that space. ]

Yes, but since I have merged the key with the Flame ring, the key became the owner of the space inside the Flame ring and when I opened the door...

Zane paused.

He gulped and with full surety, he finished saying:

I was sucked inside the ring.
