Chapter 160: The Sun That Sat On A Throne
Disappear for a while. Let the people miss you. This is what the sun does with the sunset. When you reappear, you are much loved.
But unlike the sun, Zane wouldn’t be loved if he reappeared.
Three hundred wardens, in one mansion, weren’t able to find one skinny frail boy.
As if he vanished in thin air.
Among them, there was only one question.
"Where the fuck did he go?"
Ironically, the person they were looking for, had the same question as well.
"Where the hell am I?"
Zane wasn’t in the mansion.
He had really thought of running around and hiding in the mansion until the walls vanished. That was his plan. It was bad, yes. But that’s all he had.
But this current situation wasn’t something he had even imagined.
The moment he had opened the door of the mansion with his ring, instead of the house, he entered something else.
He was somewhere.
He was floating.
He might have saved himself from the Wardens but how would he survive the unknown?
I am still in my senses. I can feel myself. Is this space?
Darkness enveloped him from all sides.
If not for no floor beneath his feet, he would have thought he was in a room with no lights.
He was in the air, he could breathe, his heart worked properly.
He wasn’t in danger. Or was he?
He had no idea and that seemed scarier than the Wardens.
He knew the Wardens wanted to capture him but right now he didn’t know anything.
He gulped and staring at the empty space, he turned to the only thing that could have an answer to this.
Conflux?
His system.
Don’t tell me something is suppressing you here too?
[ No. ]
Zane sighed in relief.
At least he wasn’t alone.
He didn’t use his mouth to talk as he couldn’t risk making his presence known if someone was waiting in the darkness.
What is this place?
[ I have an idea. ]
Idea? You are also not sure about it?
[ Yes. This isn’t done by me. It’s either someone used their skill on you and called you here or your Key Of Oblivion finally showed its true nature. Remember that third property of your key that you couldn’t read? Maybe you are here because of it. ]
Zane recalled the properties of the Key of his parents and it really contained something unreadable.
It’s because of that? I also opened Hena’s mansion with it. Nothing happened at that time.
[ Maybe it only works when you are alone? ]
Then what is this place?
The system and Zane both speculated various things but they soon realized talking would do them no good.
I have to get out of here.
Zane looked around once more and again met with darkness.
He extended his hands but they touched nothing.
Is this endless? I don’t even see a door! I don’t want to die like this. In an unknown place.
Zane’s heart picked up pace.
His imagination ran wild.
Darkness never affected him but it was the darkness of Dwarkam. Pure darkness would shake any soul if it didn’t know where it was.
[ Calm down. If someone wanted you dead here, you would already be. ]
Zane paused.
The system made sense but not entirely.
If I am not about to be dead, then why am I here?
[ Find that out. I can’t do it for you. ]
Zane bit his lip.
He had to do something.
Conflux couldn’t come out of his body and do things for him.
He had focused entirely on survival and for someone like him, the unknown was the scariest entity.
Nevertheless, he would try.
If he stayed in one place, he would never get out of it.
He raised his leg.
Nothing happened.
He sighed in relief and even if he was floating, he took one step forward.
But as he did...
SHRILL!
Zane fell down.
He descended at an insane speed and before he could panic...
"Anghhhhh!"
A shout rang out.
But it wasn’t Zane.
Someone else shouted.
And that someone was around him.
Images flashed around the darkness.
And not still images.
They were moving.
Zane’s eyes fixated on them as while falling, he watched them closely.
Three men and one woman were inside a huge room.
And they were stabbing a man.
A middle aged golden bearded man.
The man wore an embroidered robe with gems as he watched the four people stabbing him with shocked expressions.
He was the one who screamed.
Before Zane could see more, the scene changed.
A blue sky appeared.
A normal sky.
It almost looked peaceful.
But the next second, it found a hole in it.
Zane used his brain and came to a conclusion that the hole was the rift.
A rift tore the sky and something peeked out of it.
Soon, it came out fully.
Zane’s eyes widened.
It was the slab.
He saw the slab descending from the rift.
Before it could stab Dwarkam, the scene changed once more.
And this time, Zane was forced to close his eyes.
The brightness was too much.
He raised his hands in front of his eyes, and narrowly opened them.
Seeing the scene, he realized why the sudden brightness.
The video now showed the sun.
The bright round sun.
It looked normal but after a few seconds, the round sun, it opened its eyes.
It shot a glare at Zane, forcing the boy to almost suffer a heart attack.
Then the sun growed limbs.
Two hands and two legs.
And before Zane knew it, the sun lost its round shape and became a creature made purely of fire sitting on an equally fiery throne, looking down at Zane.
The gutterborn gulped and the scene changed once more.
A moon appeared.
One moon.
Not two.
Not Maaya and Riveth that hung in Dwarkam.
Zane watched it and his brows shot up as the moon moved.
It wiggled and in front of his eyes, it divided itself into two parts.
A smaller moon appeared out of the original moon.
Now two moons decorated the sky.
What is this?
Zane felt he watched something forbidden and before he could make sense of it, he fell deeper and the scene changed once more.
A throne appeared.
A throne made of mangled inhuman corpses.
On top of it, sat a creature.
A creature with a wide jaw.
Rows of sharp fangs.
Black skin.
Skinny long hands.
Three Eyes.
Zane shivered.
And if that wasn’t enough, his soul screamed in fear as all three eyes, all three of them...
Fell on Zane.
