Chapter 141: Death Reserved A Seat

In a world that’s become a desert, people are thirsty for comrades; the taste of bread broken amongst comrades made them accept the values of war.

According to Leon, Kairon was now Diablo’s comrade.

To prove his loyalty, Kairon was ordered to cut off his right hand and not scream while doing so.

And to be alive and become a golden knight, Kairon did it as well.

He severed his right hand.

It fell lifeless on the ground.

Blood gushed from the self made wound and Leon moved forward.

He was impressed but before the Resonance Binding, he looked at Diablo and...

"Heal your comrade first."

Ordered something weird.

Kairon and Coin both stared at Leon with confused expressions but Leon said nothing.

Diablo heard the order and brought his thumb to his mouth.

He bit it with his teeth as a drop of blood formed on the tip of his thumb.

Then he jerked his thumb at Kairon, making the blood drop fly towards the Enforcer.

Kairon didn’t move as it might anger Leon. Also, the pain was there so he didn’t feel like moving as well.

Even after doing all this, if he died, then perhaps that was all he was worth.

The drop of blood fell on Kairon’s wound and all eyes focused on it.

Kairon waited for the pain or for exploding but nothing like that happened.

In fact, he felt the pain lessening.

He casted a surprised gaze at Diablo and just before he could say thank you, his and Coin’s eyes widened.

From the hollow wound, flesh began to squirm and in front of their eyes, a new hand began forming.

Little by little.

Just one drop of Diablo’s blood managed to do such a miracle and Coin couldn’t help but ask:

"Who is he?"

Leon smiled.

He patted Diablo’s shoulder.

"He is my ace. My brother. My friend."

"He can summon flames, he can slice people with one hand and his blood can heal. That is unheard of. How can one person do such things?" Coin asked again.

Leon laughed.

Diablo showed no expressions.

Leon walked towards Coin.

"Don’t pry too much about him, Emberlord."

He leaned closer to Coin’s ears and whispered:

"He doesn’t like that."

The Emberlord sighed.

"Fine. Move now."

Leon pulled his head back.

Kairon also watched Diablo and seeing him, he wondered whether Diablo could heal himself too.

If one drop of his blood could heal others then he could heal himself of any wounds because he was filled with his own blood from head to toe. Or does it work only on others?

Kairon wanted to know the details but since Leon warned Coin to not pry too much, he wouldn’t do it either.

But if anything, both Coin and Kairon got to know why Diablo was considered to become a Sigiled for Leon.

After two more minutes, Kairon’s right hand came back.

He moved it in all the directions, he punched the air.

"This is great." He said out loud.

He watched his old hand and shivered with weirdness. He was watching his own right hand lying on the floor.

Leon clapped.

"Alright then. Let’s do the Binding."

Kairon nodded.

Leon took out his dagger and again swiped it on both of his palms.

He then gave it to Kairon and Kairon did the same.

Both Leon’s and Kairon’s palms were now bleeding and the Emberlord used his finger nail to do the same with his palms.

Then he erected the dome around the office again and the promises began.

First Kairon and Leon kept each other’s palms on the palms of the person in front of them.

They exerted their soul resonance and Kairon spoke first:

"I will not share what I saw or heard today about Leon Bronzers and the Emberlord Coin Noir to anyone in my life. I will take it to my grave."

Leon nodded and it was his turn.

"When I become a Crown, I will make the Enforcer Kairon..."

"Vulture."

"I will make the Enforcer Kairon Vulture a Golden Knight of my family."

Their palms glowed green and words formed on their tongues and vanished.

They let go of the palms and after Leon, Kairon placed his palms on the Emberlord’s.

"I will not share what I saw or heard today about Leon Bronzers and the Emberlord Coin Noir to anyone in my life. I will take it to my grave."

Kairon repeated the same promise to Coin as well and since Coin didn’t have to give anything to Kairon, the Enforcer let go of the palms.

But before he could do it, the Emberlord held the palms and spoke:

"When I will get my hands on Zane Atlas, I will hand him and his sister both to Kairon Vulture for one whole day."

Their palms glowed green as well.

Words formed and vanished on their tongues and Kairon finally let go of Coin’s palms.

Kairon watched the Emberlord with strange eyes and Coin smiled.

"Don’t worry about it. You cut your hand for our secret. I can at least make one promise to you."

Kairon nodded.

But he didn’t bow.

Not anymore. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

The Emberlord had lost the post of a preacher of God in Kairon’s eyes when he gave in to his greed.

And since he wasn’t an Emberlord, there was no reason for Kairon to bow anymore.

"You are one lucky man, Kairon. You almost died today." Leon said.

Kairon gave a slow nod.

"Yeah. My luck is working today."

The Enforcer let out a tired sigh.

His luck really saved him today. He almost died like Varikh and the Priest.

Kairon felt grateful for it.

But what he didn’t know was the thing that saved him wasn’t his luck.

It was the heirloom in his pocket.

Death would have been the luckiest outcome for the man today.

But the heirloom on his pocket, it made sure Kairon stayed alive.

And if the heirloom wanted someone to stay alive, it meant only one thing...

Death was placing a seat for them beside itself.
