Memorials become relics if they do not stir our modern conscience.
But Zane had no time to worry about conscience as the relic was needed.
Everyone was done eating so Zane finally struck the main topic.
"The Relic."
Everyone sat up straight.
The Priest stepped closer to the table.
Zane saw that and before anyone could stop him, he spoke:
"We will start from the Cameron forest. I went there to hunt for some food but was chased by a snake. We might find some clue of the relic there."
Jammy shook his head.
Tesla sighed.
Xavier stood from his chair.
"Then let's go there right now."
Zane nodded.
"Yes. Let's go."
He also left the chair and everyone else did the same.
Zane carried Milo in his arms and walked towards the door.
He spared no glance to the Priest or the food.
He would have asked for some food to be packed for their journey but decided against it.
He had already taken enough from them. Anymore and they would begin showing their colors.
Zane left the diner but the people behind him were slow.
They took small steps, burping and laughing.
Only Xavier and some others were energetic.
That's what the food does.
Zane couldn't even be angry at them as he too wanted to simply lie down and relax, but his position didn't allow that.
So he let them move at their pace and came out of the building.
Milo was in his arms.
Xavier, Tesla, Hena, and Draxus were with Zane.
Draxus was the name of Hena's bodyguard.
Jammy was also there but he was coming with the rest of the people.
All of them stood at the exit of the building as they looked around.
No one said anything to each other as Zane was in constant thought.
But he stopped thinking as he saw someone walking.
He knew the man.
Leon Bronzers.
The red haired Halocrat who gave an indirect threat to Zane back at the Cathedral.
He had his attendee with him.
Zane hid Milo as Leon walked past him.
The Halocrat threw a smile in his way and carried on walking wherever he was going.
Though, he gave Zane the smile but a scowl to the girl standing beside Tesla.
Hena.
Everyone saw it and Zane looked at her.
"You are not really liked by them. Why?"
He directly asked the question that bothered him.
Hena was a Halocrat and yet, she received the same looks and hospitality like Zane.
Hena ran her finger through her short hair.
Zane's breath quickened.
He had never seen any girl in his life. Not more than a few minutes. And certainly not pretty ones.
Nevertheless, he came back to the question at hand.
"It's a long story." Hena replied.
Zane nodded. "Let's save it for another day. I don't have that much time."
He refused right away, averted his eyes from her and Hena didn't seem to mind.
After a few minutes, everyone else also joined Zane.
Seeing all of them gathered, Zane finally took the first step.
Everyone followed.
No one spoke anything to Zane as the man appeared busy with his own mind.
But the people behind him were chatting all the way and Milo was also playing with Tesla while carried by Zane.
Soon, all of them reached the exit of the Cathedral and it was the same one from where Zane had entered.
Only Hena, Draxus and Zane experienced this gate as everyone else had entered from different doors meant for those who weren't in the Halocrats' batch.
Though, no one could actually see the exit.
It was simply more ground and sky.
Zane only found it because of the arrow that was placed on the ground, depicting the exit.
If not for that, he would be wandering like an orphan.
Giving one last look behind him, he finally stepped forward.
He vanished in thin air.
Everyone raised their brows and some even shouted but Draxus told them the truth.
They calmed down and one by one, everyone passed through the door.
Xavier was the first one to jump out as he didn't want to leave Zane alone. The man was hated now. Anything could happen.
Everyone else followed him and in no time, Zane's entire team was at the exit of the Citadel.
Zane roamed his eyes at everyone.
Everyone is here?
[ Yes. ]
Zane nodded and faced ahead.
"Let's go then."
He started walking.
Everyone walked behind him.
Even Xavier.
Zane was in the front alone.
Milo in his arms.
As soon as they left the Citadel area and arrived among people, all heads moved at him.
No one could avert their eyes.
They were seeing a horde of people roaming in the streets behind one man.
They had only seen something like that when the Wardens were patrolling. When the Enforcers and the Discipline Sentinels cleared the streets at the arrival of a Crown.
Zane batted no eye to them and turned left.
But at this action of his, everyone frowned.
They told Xavier about it and Xavier nodded.
He went beside Zane.
"The Cameron forest is on the right, Zane."
"I know."
Xavier's frown deepened.
"Then why are you going to the opposite side?"
"Because we are not going to the forest."
Xavier raised his brows.
He looked at the people behind Zane.
They were also confused but Jammy was smiling.
Xavier didn't understand so he directly asked Zane.
"Why are we not going there? We have to find the relic, right?"
"Yes." Zane replied.
"You are not making sense at all. If you don't go to the forest then how the hell will you find the relic?"
Zane sighed.
"Who told you we will find the relic in the forest?"
Xavier held Zane's shoulder.
"Are you alright? It was you who said we will find that in the Cameron forest!"
Zane smiled.
"Correct."
"So?"
"What?"
Xavier clenched his hair.
"Then why the hell are you going in the opposite direction if you dropped the original relic in the Cameron forest?!"
Zane stopped walking.
He turned to Xavier and grinned.
"I never went to Cameron forest in my whole life."
