Chapter 1371: Chapter 689: Puppet Arts

Lin Beichen knew in his heart that there was a gap in strength between him and the opponent. He said these words more to bolster his own courage. In fact, he wasn’t confident and didn’t know if he could really defeat them.

At that moment, those few people started to shout strangely, muttering and chanting incomprehensible spells. This gave Lin Beichen a headache; he hated such sly plots.

"What the heck are you guys up to? If you’re going to fight, then fight. Don’t be wishy-washy, and don’t use some sinister trickery to deal with me. If you have what it takes, face me one-on-one!" Lin Beichen shouted impatiently.

However, those people completely ignored him and continued their muttering.

Suddenly, Lin Beichen sensed something unusual. He turned around sharply to see that in the dark corner, the lids of a dozen coffins were opening slowly.

With a loud crash, Lin Beichen was startled and involuntarily took several steps back. He hadn’t noticed at all before that there were so many coffins hidden in the dark corners.

"It’s this trick again." Lin Beichen secretly cursed. Not long ago, he had already experienced the power of this trick and didn’t expect to encounter it again today. Judging by today’s setup, it seemed even stronger than last time.

After all, this time there were not just one missionary but more than a dozen of them casting spells together. Their combined strength naturally made the power even more terrifying than before.

"Are you kidding me? The same old trick, don’t you guys have anything new? Can’t you come up with something fresh?" Lin Beichen couldn’t help but complain.

Those few people smiled faintly, and one of them said, "Rest assured, we have many tricks waiting for you. But even this is enough to handle you. Enjoy yourself slowly!"

Lin Beichen checked the time. He knew it wasn’t the moment for a head-on clash. Being deep underground, the power of the Celestial Thunder couldn’t penetrate this far. So he had to buy some time and then find a way to save people.

"Okay, I can’t fight them head-on. I need to think of another way. After all, I’m alone here. I have to delay and then seek help." Lin Beichen quietly calculated in his mind.

At this moment, he had to maintain a calm mind and respond to all changes by remaining unchanged. However, what Lin Beichen didn’t expect was that the corpses crawling out of the coffins were so fast.

Before he could react, those corpses had already rushed to his side. They lunged at Lin Beichen with twisted movements as if to devour him alive.

Fortunately, Lin Beichen was agile; otherwise, he would have been doomed already. One of the corpses lunged at him, but he slapped it away.

"Do you really think you little minions can catch me? You’re a thousand years too early!" Lin Beichen snorted coldly, using the momentum to step onto an iron chain, leaping onto the Copper Cauldron.

He surveyed the surroundings and said to those missionaries, "Aren’t you missionaries ashamed? You’re not just disgusting, but utterly hypocritical. I’ve never seen anything as nauseating as you—you’re just a bunch of hypocrites!"

Lin Beichen knew that right now he had no other way to escape. Unless he could make them panic and mess up their formation, he wouldn’t be able to get out, let alone rescue anyone.

His gaze fell on the little girl, and he felt a pang of sorrow. He knew he couldn’t stand by and watch her die. He had to find a way to rescue her.

"Child, don’t worry, I will definitely get you out. Just stay there and don’t move. Once I’m done with these people, I’ll take you out," Lin Beichen silently vowed in his heart.

Facing the combined assault of these corpses and the missionaries’ support, Lin Beichen found it somewhat difficult to cope. He knew he couldn’t afford to be careless, or the consequences would be unimaginable.

At this moment, Lin Beichen was resolved to die if necessary. He thought, "It’s victory or death. Even if I die, I’ll die a glorious death!"

For the sake of this world and these innocent people, Lin Beichen had put in tremendous effort. He was a hero worthy of people’s admiration, yet in his own view, that wasn’t what he truly wanted.

What he truly longed for was peace and prosperity, for the people to live in peace and work happily. But seeing these missionaries in front of him, Lin Beichen couldn’t suppress his anger.

This country became like this because of scum like them. Only by eliminating these scoundrels can the country restore its former vitality and vigor.

Hearing Lin Beichen’s words, those blond-haired, blue-eyed missionaries instantly became furious! They glared at Lin Beichen, their eyes filled with murderous intent.

However, they weren’t the type to stand by idly while being insulted. The leading missionary stepped forward, pointing at Lin Beichen’s nose, and shouted, "Young man, do you think you’re the smartest person in the world?"

The missionary’s Mandarin was more fluent than many locals, which suggested he had been preaching here for many years. Lin Beichen coldly stared at him, saying nothing.

Yet, the missionary was far from finished. He continued, "There’s a saying in your country, ’headstrong and opinionated.’ I guess it refers to people like you, thinking you’re invincible when in fact you’re just a useless failure!"

After speaking, those few missionaries exchanged glances and burst into laughter. Lin Beichen paid no attention to their words, instead finding their actions oddly unusual.
