Chapter 1364: Chapter 685: Trapped Woman (Part 2)
The surrounding spiders were either crushed directly by the meatball or knocked into the depths of the pit by its swinging arms.
Lin Beichen looked down briefly and felt chills all over his body.
If he faced such a creature continuously, he feared his mental endurance might collapse. He still couldn’t understand; even if Ghost Refining Technique required such inhumane acts as cannibalism, how could it create such a monster? And how many innocent tragic fates were hidden behind this creature?
If he didn’t see wrong, this meatball had twelve arms, which means at least six people had already fallen victim to it. Thinking that more innocent lives had died at the hands of those cultivating the Evil Technique, Lin Beichen gritted his teeth in hatred towards the users of such techniques.
Though the spider silk was slender, its density was quite high. The layered spider silk web was originally capable of bearing substantial weight.
However, the corrosive venom was overwhelmingly fierce; any spider silk it touched quickly split apart, and it couldn’t be controlled.
Worse still, the venom was in liquid form, highly fluid. Lin Beichen watched helplessly as the venom spread from one end of the spider silk to the other, his heart filled with urgency.
Without a perfect plan, his entire self would likely be corroded by the venom just like the spider silk.
Lin Beichen knew well that this spider silk couldn’t bear much weight. At this rate, he was bound to fall into the pit.
In desperation, he executed the Daoist Body Technique—Rain Swift Thirteen Techniques. With a push of his hands, a shake of his arms, and lightly raising his heels, his whole body instantly hovered in mid-air.
Then, he rotated 360 degrees in the air and swiftly moved forward. Due to the rapid speed and immense power, water ripples layered one after another, appearing from a distance like surging waterfalls.
With lightning speed, Lin Beichen reached the opposite shore, leaving the danger behind.
Having finally reached the opposite shore, Lin Beichen felt relieved internally. He was secretly thankful for overcoming the peril and profoundly sighed, "Before, sitting on a plane, I never thought the sky was so terrifying. It seems standing on solid ground is indeed safer."
After gathering his emotions, Lin Beichen began pondering the next move, knowing well that staying here was unwise.
Though he safely reached the opposite shore this time, no one could guarantee what might happen next. Therefore, quickly leaving Cloud Heaven Temple was the best strategy.
"Among thirty-six stratagems, fleeing tops the list, but where should I go now?" Lin Beichen thought to himself, "Right, I can return via the secret passage!" Thus, he swiftly turned and dashed towards the direction of the passage.
The passage wasn’t too long or short; Lin Beichen moved quickly within. Before long, he spotted a light ahead.
Indeed, where there is light, there is the direction of the exit! Lin Beichen’s heart rejoiced, muttering to himself, "Finally about to leave this ghost place!"
However, just as he was about to exit the passage, he noticed what seemed like a silhouette within the light. His heart skipped a beat, could it be another monster? Like the previous meatball? But the passage was the only exit; he couldn’t possibly retreat.
Lin Beichen took a deep breath and summoned his courage to move forward. Whether it was a mule or a horse, he would only know by leading it out for a walk. He silently resolved to bravely face whatever lay ahead.
Lin Beichen didn’t think further, hurried forward, quickly reaching the passage’s exit. As he gradually got closer, he realized the figure was actually a man, and judging by his features, he seemed to be a foreigner. He had deep eyes, his notable sapphire blue irises particularly eye-catching, and his thick beard was unforgettable.
Though he was a foreigner, he wore a Tang suit, and this combination looked quite unique, making Lin Beichen ponder, "If this foreigner can’t speak Chinese, how do I communicate?"
He was contemplating how to converse with the foreigner when, unexpectedly, the oddly-dressed foreigner made a sudden leap forward, launching a fierce attack against Lin Beichen.
Seeing the foreigner strike first, Lin Beichen thought that the time for formal Chinese etiquette and Daoist modesty was over. Thus, he immediately employed the Daoist Body Technique to resist the foreigner’s attack.
The foreigner’s skills were quite impressive, initiating with a series of powerful assaults. But unfortunately, he seemed clueless about defense and leveraging power.
Lin Beichen speculated that the foreigner probably had some interest in China and Chinese martial arts, but his knowledge seemed superficial. Only after a few moves could one discern his actual level.
The foreigner’s attacks appeared overwhelmingly fierce, seemingly challenging to withstand. But, in actuality, he was bluffing, while Lin Beichen handled him easily, barely needing to exert two-tenths of his power.
The Daoist spirit emphasizes "The laws of heaven and earth, the Dao follows nature," guiding all to embrace nature and truth.
Lin Beichen deeply understood this, knowing he should exploit external forces to his advantage.
Thus, when the foreigner launched his ferocious attacks, he merely retreated swiftly to defend.
As they battled to the passage’s center, Lin Beichen suddenly executed a backflip, grabbing a handful of stones and flinging them at the foreigner.
The foreigner apparently didn’t realize the stones’ potency, simply blocking them randomly with his forearms.
Little did he know, each stone corresponded to a specific acupoint on his body.
Under Lin Beichen’s relentless pressure, the foreigner was gradually forced towards the passage’s exit.
Eventually, with a sweeping leg kick, Lin Beichen successfully subdued the foreigner.
"Speak up, who sent you to trouble me?" Lin Beichen pointed at the foreigner lying on the ground, questioning repeatedly, "What is your motive for obstructing me? Who is the mastermind?"
At this moment, the oddly dressed foreigner was in pain, unable to move, but only glared at Lin Beichen with a grim face and eyes full of hatred, unwilling to speak.
"What, you still refuse to talk?" Lin Beichen demanded, "Or is it you can’t speak Chinese at all? Let me tell you, you’ve witnessed my prowess. If you don’t reveal the truth, I’ll make you taste genuine Chinese kung fu!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a gunshot rang out. The foreigner, who lay motionless moments ago, was shot dead.
Upon hearing the gunshot, Lin Beichen quickly retreated back into the passage. He knew clearly somebody sent a sniper to eliminate witnesses.
"I hadn’t yet gotten any answers before he was killed." Lin Beichen sighed silently in his heart, "These people are ruthless."
At the moment, Lin Beichen couldn’t afford to think too much. Facing such a dangerous situation, he could only retreat to the previous side room.
Returning to the side room, Lin Beichen felt mixed emotions. He realized outside was far from just a lone sniper; possibly, there was a group lying in ambush, waiting for him to come out.
"What should I do next?" Lin Beichen pondered anxiously.
Suddenly, a barrage of gunfire erupted, bullets raining towards Lin Beichen. Luckily, his quick reflexes allowed him to hide behind a large water tank, avoiding the deadly hail.
But merely hiding wasn’t a long-term solution. Just then, Lin Beichen had an idea, murmuring softly, "Can you help me?"
A bone-chilling gust swept across, making Lin Beichen shiver. Shortly after, a mournful voice resonated, "We can assist you, but you must help us too."
It turns out from the moment Lin Beichen entered the side room, he had activated the Celestial Eye. At this point, he could see the ghosts within the room and communicate with them.
